In the early '80s The Police rose to become the biggest band in the world on the strength of such tunes as Roxanne, Don't Stand So Close to Me and Every Breath You Take. But according to Dave Wakeling of The English Beat -- who toured extensively with the trio comprised of Sting (whose real name is Gordon Sumner), Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland – the band was kept on "an incredibly short leash" and "banned" from speaking their minds by none other than Stewart's manager brother, Miles Copeland III.
"Touring with The Police was an odd situation -- they were ruled by fear by Miles Copeland," Wakeling tells me. "They were not allowed to speak their minds. They were heavily contained, and we felt very sad for them really, because they did have ideas and opinions that they were banned from being able to say."

You know a Beats Antique song when you hear it. The group has a very unique dance fusion sound that would be tricky to even emulate. Normally, I hate using the term “fusion,” but it’s necessary to describe the musical concoction that Beats Antique manages to create. A smorgasbord of varying sounds – the group funnels all of their personal music palettes together resulting in an electronic tribal sound that is ridiculously catchy. Oh, and did I mention they have a full-time belly dancer in their ranks?
I was shocked to discover that the group only consists of three members: multi-instrumentalist David Satori, percussion extraordinaire Tommy Cappel, and sultry Zoe Jakes, a mesmerizing belly dancer. Satori boasts a degree in music performance and composition from the California Institute of the Arts. Cappel is a proud grad as well with a degree in studio drumming from the iconic Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Famed TV chef Julia Child worked as an international spy for the U.S. government during World War II, according to new reports.
Child reportedly served as a member of an international spy ring managed by an early version of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Government reports, expected to be released on Thursday, will list names and offer details from previously classified files identifying 24,000 military and civilian operative spies who formed the first CIA effort - the Office of Strategic Services (Oss) - according to CNN.com.
According to reports, Child's name will be listed alongside The Godfather actor Sterling Hayden, author Ernest Hemingway's son, John, and Miles Copeland, the father of The Police drummer Stewart Copeland.
The group studied military plans, created propaganda, infiltrated enemy ranks and stirred resistance among foreign troops under the leadership of President Franklin Roosevelt.
Information about Oss involvement was reportedly so guarded that relatives often couldn't confirm a family member's work with the group, forcing former agents to keep quiet until now.
Child reportedly shared the secret with Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg and Chicago White Sox catcher Moe Berg during her service with the agency.
Child died just days before her 92nd birthday in 2004, though her legacy will live on in the 2009 film Julie + Julia, starring actress Meryl Streep.
