Robin Wright received her third consecutive Best Drama Actress bid for playing devious First Lady Claire Underwood on Netflix's "House of Cards," and could very well be looking at her first win in the category. The veteran actress took home a Golden Globe for the show's first season, and her character has evolved into more of a driving force with each subsequent year. Just like leading man Kevin Spacey, Wright submitted "Chapter 32" for Emmy consideration. -Break- Click here to see the updated list of all 2015 Emmy episode submissions Synopsis Frank and Claire travel to Moscow to negotiate the release of an imprisoned U.S. citizen. Claire visits the young man, Michael Corrigan, in his cell as Frank tries to settle the terms of the peace treaty with Viktor Petrov. Claire informs Corrigan that Petrov will only release him if he gives a statement apologizing to Russia for his unlawful actions,...

Kevin Spacey has two Oscars (Supporting for "The Usual Suspects" in 1995, Lead for "American Beauty" in 1999) and a Tony ("Lost in Yonkers," 1991) but has lost all six of his previous Emmy races. This year he is a Best Drama Actor nominee for the third year running for playing conniving politico Frank Underwood on "House of Cards" (he has also reaped three additional bids as a producer of the Netflix hit). Earlier this year, Spacey won the Golden Globe and SAG award. Can his episode submission, "Chapter 32" win over Emmy voters? -Break- Click here to see the updated list of all 2015 Emmy episode submissions Synopsis Frank and Claire (Robin Wright) travel to Moscow to negotiate the release of an imprisoned Us citizen. House of Cards, Season 3, Episodes 1-6
Premiered on Friday, February 27th on Netflix Instant
After a whirlwind second season ending with Frank Underwood in office as the President of the United States and the fate of both Rachel Posner and Douglas Stamper unclear after the former’s attack of the latter, season three has a high-stakes tone to maintain. Fortunately, the first half of the season is very watchable, remaining appropriately dramatic without being transparent and avoiding the stumbling block many political dramas face of putting too much dependence on ridiculous standards of practice within the halls of power. With that being said, Fema has tweeted about the new season, stating, “Hey, Frank Underwood: We’re not on board with claiming your own emergencies. #HouseofCards” in regards to the character’s twist on the Stafford Act. However some drama-for-the-sake-of-drama is to be expected and so far in season three,...

Does foreshadowing count as clunky if it seems inelegant in hindsight? I don’t know how to feel about what — looking back on this episode — reads like a forced conversation about the novelist’s friend who committed suicide. In Scorpio, the character based on this friend died of AIDS. Why the change? “Because it’s fiction. Suicide is too selfish.”Upon arriving in Russia, we watch Claire and Frank enter their respective arenas: Claire goes into Michael Corrigan’s prison cell, Frank into Petrov’s office. Surely they anticipated it would be Frank with the harder task of getting Petrov on his side. But it is Claire, it turns out, who has the uphill struggle. Who would’ve thought Michael wouldn’t want to be released from prison? Nearly every scene in this episode takes place in a small, enclosed space: Air Force One, a prison cell, Petrov’s office.

Here's an interesting tidbit buried in a story over on Variety (thanks to DC reader Jinx for pointing it out)! Apparently there's a TV show in the works based upon the hellish antics of everyone's favorite Cenobites and their unlucky puzzle box.
After bankruptcy and the departure of its founder, Rhi Entertainment has rebranded as Sonar Entertainment and tapped Stewart Till as chief executive.
The move, announced Saturday at the MipTV market in Cannes, comes as Sonar tries to expand the scope of its production-distribution business beyond the made-fors that had been the forte of company founder Robert Halmi Sr.
Halmi exited Gotham-based Rhi in February. His son, Robert Halmi Jr., ankled as CEO last July, when Till was tapped as co-interim CEO along with Mike Corrigan and David Salzman.
"Rebranding as Sonar Entertainment represents a fresh start and a solid business strategy for growth and expansion," said Sonar chairman Gabriel de Alba.
