Warren Cosford
Warren Cosford's career as a manager, producer, promoter, director and
performer in the communications industry in both Canada and the United
States has spanned over fifty years.
Much of his career has been spent with CHUM Limited beginning as production manager and later program director of their Toronto radio stations. When the company expanded their television operations, Warren was asked to take a leadership position as co-executive producer, with Moses Znaimer, of CHUM's and CITY-TV's music programming and production strategies. This led to his appointment as Director of Special Projects for CHUM Limited, a position created to take advantage of his vision, talents and experience in programming, production, Canadian Talent Development, broadcast acquisitions and recruitment.
CHUM COO, Fred Sherratt said of Mr. Cosford at the time of his appointment...."Warren knows where everything is and gets things done".
Warren left CHUM in 1987 to pursue an ownership opportunity by launching a New York City area radio station and later became Vice president and General Manager of Middlesex Lambton Communications. He returned to CHUM in 1994 as Operations Manager of Canada's first duopoly....CKLW/CKLW-FM/CKWW/89X in Windsor.
Mr. Cosford has always had a high profile as a speaker at industry conventions and columnist in trade publications. He is generally credited with initiating the strategies, which led to the creation of FACTOR.... The Fund to Assist Canadian Talent on Record and with MP Ralph Ferguson created the initial strategies which lead to changing the formula for gasoline in Canada. He has also produced over 200 hours of documentary programming for radio chronicling Rock Music, most of which is still in syndication throughout the world, which has led to an international reputation amongst his peers. Warren's accomplishments have been acknowledged by many, including Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
Since 1997 he has been operating his own Media Consulting Company and, recently, taught for a semester as professor of communications studies at the University of Windsor. He also created what may be the first "Lecture via The Internet" with legendary producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, KISS, Alice Cooper, Nine Inch Nails et al) of Enigma Digital Dot Com, which was transmitted from Los Angeles to colleges and universities in both Canada and the United States.
Warren Cosford brings a pioneering spirit, a creative flair, a wealth of experience and a track record of accomplishment to any endeavor he chooses to associate himself with.
