Exclusive: TaleFlick Productions CEO Uri Singer has secured the film and television rights to God Mode, a Keenspot webcomic created by Chris Crosby.
Having debuted as an online comic, God Mode has attracted more than nine million readers and hundreds of millions of views. Set in 1995, it follows a feisty Asian-American teenage girlboss who (with the help of her motley crew of high school friends) creates a video game cheat code website that blows up in popularity at the dawn of the internet and becomes acquired by an out-of-touch billion-dollar conglomerate. The webcomic’s artists have included Ryan Kerns, Raven Perez, and Adrian Ramos. Recently, the God Mode franchise expanded into print with a prequel comic book series illustrated by artist Remy “Eisu” Mokhtar from a script by Mike Rosenzweig and Jason Swoboda.

Two months after the debut of musical rom-com “Marry Me,” starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson and Maluma, Bobby Crosby is getting another one of his Keenspot graphic novels adapted for the big screen. Israeli producer Uri Singer has secured the film and television rights to “Dreamless,” a Keenspot graphic novel by Crosby illustrated by Sarah Ellerton.
“Dreamless,” which was first a Keenspot webcomic in 2009 before being collected into a graphic novel, has been read by more than four million people worldwide. It is a romance about a girl from America and a boy from Japan, born on the same day in 1923. Since birth, they have somehow mind-swapped in their sleep, experiencing each other’s lives instead of dreaming. Then, their relationship is tested during World War II in young adulthood. The project is currently out to talent.

“Grubbs,” a Keenspot all-ages webcomic that draws inspiration from “Calvin & Hobbes” and “Dennis the Menace,” is slated for an animated TV series adaptation penned by M.J. Offen. Also the head writer of the Cartoon Network and HBO Max animated series “Jade Armor,” Offen serves as showrunner and is scripting the pilot, co-producing with Keenspot’s Chris Crosby, Bobby Crosby and “Grubbs” creator Max Weaver.
The announcement comes hot off the heels of the theatrical debut of “Marry Me,” which was based on the Keenspot graphic novel of the same name from creator Bobby Crosby. Benderspink is adapting Last Blood, based on Bobby Crosby's comicbook centered on a band of vampires protecting the Earth's last human survivors of a zombie apocalypse. "Last Blood" was co-created by siblings Bobby Crosby and Chris Crosby but Bobby penned the comicbook alone. Benderspink, headed by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink, has a variety of comicbook properties set up including "Power and Glory" and "Y: The Last Man" at New Line, "The Ghouly Boys" at Mandate and "Pet Robots" at Disney. It's also developing "Area 52," a sci-fi actioner based on the Image Comics series by Brian Haberlin.
