Director and writer Alberto Daiber is the grandson of the German sci-fi
writer Albert Ludwig Daiber. He studied medicine at the Universidad
Católica de Chile in Santiago and specialized in psychiatry at the
Universidad de Chile. He combines medicine with his
great interest on the big screen and as host of some cultural shows on
tv :"La Cámara de los Comunes" (1988)and "Zona Franca" (1991). His
first job as director was Punto Rojo (1996) filmed on 16 mm. After that
he directed El roto: perjudícame cariño (2004) based on the novel of
Joaquín Edwards Bello; El Magnífico (2007)and Lecciones Privadas
(2009). Daiber is director, writer and producer of most of his films.
On them a particular way of filming with camera permanently moving is
noted. Also he has directed some
TV movies for the series "Cuentos Chilenos" of the National Television
of Chile: Donde estás, Constanza (2000), Gracia y el forastero (2000),
La chica del crillón (1999), El niño que enloqueció de amor (1998) and
Misa de réquiem (1997).
