The Hitman's Wife’s Bodyguard is coming with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.
The Hitman's Bodyguard 2 is in the works, with the appropriately irreverent title of The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard. The first movie was a fun (and quite funny) and flawed action movie, one that felt like a blend of late night '80s/'90s action movies but with the added benefit of Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson engaging in rapid fire smartassery throughout. So with a title like The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard you should know that the wife in question is Salma Hayek's hilarious Sonia Kincaid, a character who certainly amped up every scene. Seriously, she was great.
Patrick Hughes returns as director. Reynolds, Jackson, and Hayek will be joined by Antonia Banderas, Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo, and Richard E. Grant.
Here's the official synopsis:

Michael Mann needs a new lead actor for his Enzo Ferrari film, as Christian Bale leaves the project...
Once upon a time, back in 2004, Christian Bale lost an awful lot of weight to take on the lead role in The Machinist. Straight afterwards, he had to bulk up to play Batman in 2005's Batman Begins. And since then, the actor has been willing to add or lose weight, depending on the role.
However, Michael Mann's upcoming biopic of Enzo Ferrari may have been a project too far.
Bale had been earmarked to play the car maker, for the movie that begins shooting this spring. Yet Deadline reports that Bale has had to back out, due to the short time frame that gives him to gain the weight required for the role.

Interview Ryan Lambie 5 Aug 2013 - 07:06
In our latest on-set roundtable interview, production designer Russell De Rozario talks about Kick-Ass 2, and borrowed Ferraris...
Nb: This interview contains quite a lot of spicy language
During our visit to the set of Kick-Ass 2 last autumn, we were lucky enough to meet some particularly famous faces, including Mark Millar, John Romita, Jr, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Grace-Moretz (the movie must surely win the record for the most double-barrelled names in one cast). But one of the most engaging and funny people we spoke to was undoubtedly production designer Russell De Rozario, whose anecdotes about making Kick-Ass 2 were often priceless.
The highlight? Easily De Rozario's story about the acquisition of a very expensive sports car for the villains' lair. "It's not as dodgy as it sounds," he said, as we guffawed incredulously. But, really, the whole interview's a lively...

Interview Ryan Lambie 31 Jul 2013 - 13:01
The writer and director of Kick-Ass 2 chats to us about its making, and getting a 15 certificate in the UK...
Nb: This interview contains a bit of swearing.
It’s after eight on an autumn evening at Pinewood Studios, and another hard day’s filming has just finished on the set of Kick-Ass 2. As the dozens of extras exit the sound stage, we take a look around at the oppulent space around us for the first time; this is the lair of Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s villain, and as you might expect from a young, slightly sociopathic comic book villain, it’s packed full of expensive cars, arcade machines, plush furniture, a bar, and somewhat incongruously (if you haven’t read Mark Millar’s source comic), there’s a gigantic water tank with a dead shark in it.
It was in this huge, extravagant...

Feature Ryan Lambie 29 Jul 2013 - 09:39
During the shoot of Kick-Ass 2 last year, we were lucky enough to visit the set of the forthcoming movie. Here’s what happened...
Nb: This article contains strong language from the outset.
It’s an ordinary damp Autumn day outside the South Dock Stage at Pinewood Studios. But inside, two armies of superheroes clash in a dervish of gaudy colour and smoke. Every inch of the sound stage interior has been retrofitted to look like the lair of The Mother Fucker, Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s rebranded super villain from the original Kick-Ass.
Now outfitted in a kinky new get-up that’s part Gene Simmons, part gimp suit and almost all patent leather, he looks maniacal with his spiky hair and be-feathered shoulders. In fact, the twin armies of good and evil, gathered as they are in this one room, look uncannily like a Slipknot...
