Before he gets to his stint at the English National Opera this spring, directing "The Damnation Of Faust," helmer Terry Gilliam will get his latest short film venture, "The Wholly Family," in the can. First announced last year, the film stars Cristiana Capotondi, Douglas Dean, Nicolas Connolly and Sergio Solli and is being shot on location in Italy, and not without good reason. Terry Gilliam be the recipent of this year’s Fellowship award at the Bradford International Film Festival. In addition, the festival will be screening a retrospective of the director’s works, including some rarities and, very excitingly, the premiere of his new short film, The Wholly Family.
Here is a statement from the director:
To be honoured by such an important festival pre-posthumously will force my family to treat me with some respect while I’m still alive. I will always be grateful for that.
The Wholly Family is currently in post production, but will be ready for the fest, which runs March 16-27.

Attention all Terry Gilliam Fans: we have just gotten some photos from his new short film The Wholly Family which is set to premiere during the Bradford International Film Festival which will be from March 16-27. Gilliam will receive the Fellowship award from the film festival and will also be screening a retrospective of the director’s works. The Wholly Family is currently in post production, but should be completed in time for the festival, considering it is a short.
These images are coming from Bleeding Cool who got them out of an Italian magazine called Ciak. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on in the pictures, but it looks as though some clowns have taken over, or are just plain running, a hospital of some sorts. The cast of The Wholly Family includes Nicolas Connolly as the son, Douglas Dean as the father and Cristiana Capotondi as the mother.
