Built Ealing Studios in 1930, running the company until 1938. Founded ENSA at the beginning of World War II.
Some sources give his birthdate as 27th September 1888
In 1929 he founded Associated Talking Pictures, a British production/distribution company.
He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1947 King's New Year Honours List for his services to ENSA.
He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1918 King's Birthday Honours List for his services during World War I.
