- Hal Derwin was born on July 14, 1914. He was an actor, known for Smash-Up: The Story of a Woman (1947), Lucky Me (1954) and She's Working Her Way Through College (1952). He died on February 9, 1998 in San Diego, California, USA.
- Vocalist and band leader, who started in the bands of Boyd Raeburn, Shep Fields and Les Brown. He formed his own dance orchestra in Chicago in 1940, touring the U.S. before taking up a long residency at the Biltmore Bowl in Los Angeles.
