At his “Seth Rogen Smokes the Bowl” show on Tuesday night, Rogen transformed the Hollywood Bowl into a stoner’s paradise.
The music and comedy show, which was part of the Netflix is a Joke festival, featured a star-studded lineup of performances from Snoop Dogg, Post Malone, Lil Dicky, Bill Burr, Ramy Youssef, Ronny Chieng and Abbott Elementary‘s Janelle James. The event benefited his and wife Lauren Miller’s non-profit Hilarity For Charity, which advocates for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
Rogen kicked off the night by lighting a giant bong that was planted on the Bowl stage, channeling an Olympic opening ceremony as the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra played alongside him. Vertical Entertainment has landed North American rights to “The Doc,” a documentary about a rap legend whose life and career was upended after a near-fatal accident.
The Doc, a hip-hop lyricist and producer who wrote for Nwa and Dr. Dre, was involved in a 1989 car crash that took his voice. “The Doc,” directed Dave Caplan, picks up 30 years later as he considers a dangerous experimental surgery that could restore his vocal cords.
Vertical will release the movie in theaters in the spring of 2023, following its world premiere at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
“The Doc is an incredible talent and visionary who helped usher the hip-hop movement into mainstream America,” Peter Jarowey, a partner at Vertical, said in a statement. “As his remarkable life is revealed on screen, it is like watching the history of hip-hop unfold before your very eyes as witnessed by industry legends who count him as a friend,...

With the N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" proving such a massive success for Universal Pictures, it's not a huge surprise that there's talk of a potential sequel - this time focusing on the next generation of West Coast rappers that came along.
TMZ says that Tha Dogg Pound rapper Daz Dillinger has advised them that a follow-up is already in the works with events taking place almost directly afterwards.
Instead of dealing with the members of N.W.A. though, it will focus on the careers of numerous major rappers including Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Suge Knight, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Kurupt and Dillinger himself. Like 'Compton', it's expected the film will focus on the rise of the group and offer a look at the violence and conflict that ties in with that rise.
However a Universal spokesman has denied the rumors, telling EW: "At this time there are no plans for a Straight Outta Compton sequel.

For any of you who may still be unfamiliar, Bb is the new project from Cj Wallis, owner of FortyFPS Productions. His work is synonymous for outstanding camera work and cinematography, as well as a signature modern, yet classic look. Bb is his return to the horror/thriller genre after taking time away to do documentary filming for hip hop artist Curren$y and his JetLife record label.
Bb synopsis from IMDb:
Bb is the provocative story of a girl named Leah who, under the name “Candy Cummings”, performs strip shows online from her apartment for thousands of strangers every day, never fully knowing the extent of evils that could be watching on the other side of the screen.
When I saw the first teaser trailer for Bb, I was immediately hooked. After watching, I reached out to Cj, asking for absolutely any info I could get on the project.

Because there aren’t enough non-holographic bands on the bill already, Coachella 2012 will feature a performance by a hologram of Nate Dogg, a rapper who died of a stroke in 2011. TMZ has the holo-scoop: We’re told an image of Nate will be projected onto the Coachella stage — alongside Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Warren G, and Daz Dillinger — to make it appear as though he’s actually performing on stage. [And it suuuuure will. - Ed] According to sources, Nate will perform several songs. Those are some good hologram-amount-of-songs-performing sources, TMZ. You are all over the holo-beat, like the cowboy from the arcade game Time Traveler. This story excites me, though, because I was literally Just talking to people at a party on Saturday about why hologram technology disappeared after the infamous Will.i.am Election Night appearance. Yes, we were lamenting the state of hologram technology at a party. Also my pants were off and...
