When Henry David Thoreau said “Simplify, simplify, simplify,” he probably wasn’t talking about the long-running Hasbro military action figure franchise “G.I. Joe,” but here we are anyway. Director Robert Schwentke (“The Captain”) has taken that advice with a brand-new live-action feature film that strips away most of the toy line’s sprawling cast and focuses instead of on two of its most popular characters: The speechless assassin Snake Eyes, and his misunderstood blood brother–nemesis Storm Shadow.
Since the early days of the cartoon series (and fleshed out particularly well in Larry Hama’s run in the Marvel “G.I. Joe” comic books), Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow have been trapped in a seemingly never-ending cycle of jealousy, betrayal, murder, mistaken identity, and revenge. Their backstory is the closest that “G.I. Joe” has probably ever come to Shakespeare — which is to say not especially close, but pretty darned good for...

It certainly sounds like the cast and crew of The Predator had fun coming up with insane alternative endings for the film. What they originally wanted to do was conclude with the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch Schaefer. But when Arnie wouldn’t play ball, they seem to have let their imaginations go wild.
Two days ago, we reported that the ending in which a Predator Killer suit was revealed could have actually featured a mysterious figure wearing a facehugger-style breathing mask (see the gallery below for an idea of how that would’ve looked), which would turn out to be Sigourney Weaver’s iconic hero Ellen Ripley. And if that wasn’t exciting enough for you, now we’ve got wind of another bonkers twist on the ending. This time, though, the person inside the suit wouldn’t have been Ripley but rather, Newt from Aliens.

Earlier this week we learned that there was an alternate ending for The Predator that would have introduced Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise. If you thought that was interesting, then you’ll probably be interested in learning that a grown up version of Newt, a.k.a. Rebecca Johnson, from James Cameron’s Aliens was a part of another alternate ending that was shot for Shane Black’s film.
Yuri Everson, who worked on The Predator, recently shared a couple of new photos of the alternate ending involving Newt, and they came with the following statement:
"We shot 3 different endings for The Predator, all variations of a 'Predator Killer.' This unused ending was Predator Killer Newt aka Rebecca Jordan wearing the breather mask we created for the film. You can see her name there on the monitors. Breanna Watkins played Newt. The moving 'fingers' and 'tail' on the...

We already heard that there was an alternate ending for Shane Black’s The Predator which involved the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch from the original Predator film.
Well, it turns out there was another alternate ending, and it would have been a really interesting and unexpected one. Even more unexpected than Dutch showing up! There was an ending that was shot for the film that would have connected the Predator and Alien film franchises by introducing Ellen Ripley!
The information comes from visual effects artist and puppeteer Yuri Everson, who explains that three endings were shot for The Predator, and one included Ripley, but the character would have been played by a different actress in the role and not Sigourney Weaver.
This is a photo of the costume and props involving the scene that was shot that featured Ripley. There’s also a note from Everson:

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from the end of 2018’s “The Predator.”]
“The Predator” – a mess of ultra violence and wit that never fully developed – was Shane Black’s first movie that didn’t reach his ambitious standards. However, he might’ve been able to pull off a Hail Mary if he had decided to keep one shocking ending that was filmed but ultimately cut.
The actual film ends with a surprise of sorts: the package that a rogue Predator had finally gotten into the hands of humanity is opened to reveal the means to become a Predator Killer. Humans can wear and operate this alien armor, which is equipped with a face-hugger mask, naturally. Mankind is no longer quite so defenseless.
Hollywood artist Yuri Everson – who specializes in crafting the practical designs for fantasy, sci-fi, and horror projects – posted on his Instagram Friday that a total of three final scenes were shot, and one of them features a familiar name: Ripley.
