Last night, R&B singer Vedo took the stage during The Voice’s knockout rounds. He sang Bryan Adams “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” and impressed Usher enough to advance to next week’s live rounds. He also talked a lot about his mother, who recently died — something Usher acknowledged in his comments after the performance; and something that’s been mentioned on the show every single time Vedo appears. I wrote about how this makes me feel in last night’s recap: a combination of annoyed, deeply moved, and deeply apathetic. But many commenters disagreed. I still feel that way,...

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including Castle, NCIS, The Office and Scandal!
1 | Can Orphan Black have more scenes of soccer mom Alison getting into character as Sarah? Because that was delightful!
2 | Was anyone able to follow what was going on at the end of Doctor Who’s “pocket universe” adventure? All we seem to remember is the empath lady howling. A lot.
3 | Are Game of Thrones‘ Lord Varys and Lady Olenna Redwyne your new favorite pairing on the show?...

Monday night (April 22) saw the start of week two of battle rounds in Season 4 of "The Voice," and that meant it was time once again for coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira to pair up two of their artists only to cruelly kill the dreams of one of them later. Let's take a look back at all the crushed hopes, shall we?
Team Usher: Jessica Childress vs. Vedo
Song: Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven"
The Performance: Vedo is smooth as can be, with a falsetto that gave me the shivers, but there's just something so darn likable about Jessica. This battle was incredible, but I've got such a penchant for a strong diva. When it comes down to personal preference, which it almost has to when both artists are this good, I've got to give it to Jessica. Also, her offer to "bro down" with Adam?...

As the second week of battle rounds began on The Voice Monday, talented singers swapped teams, proving the competition is as tight as it's ever been.
The night's soulful finale, pitting Team Usher's Orlando Dixon against Ryan Innes made for a rousing and inspired finish. The competitors, matching Innes's blues prowess against Dixon's technical mastery of R&B, left no doubt that winning season 4 will be tough.
Singing Bill Withers's "Ain't No Sunshine," the men put on an impassioned show, featuring dueling runs, falsettos and raw emotional power. After much deliberating, Usher chose Innes, praising his conviction and depth,...

Can you call 911 and report a non-robbery? Because that’s kinda sorta what I feel like doing after watching a pair of awesome vocalists get booted, then left to languish on the side of the road without a patented “Steal” from a competing coach, during The Voice‘s Battle Rounds tonight.
I can’t be alone in scratching my head that spunky Jessica Childress and growl-monster Patrick Dodd won’t be part of the Season 4 Knockout Rounds, right? Especially when the sweet-yet-pedestrian C. Perkins somehow hit the reality singing competition Powerball and got a second chance on Team Usher.
But hey,...

The Voice's celebrity coaches added some powerhouse talent to their rosters Tuesday during the fourth day of blind auditions, which featured songs by Adele, Taylor Swift, Joe Cocker and more.
Country sweetheart Savannah Berry, a 17-year-old singer from Houston, helped score a major victory for Team Blake in the final moments of the show with a confident version of Swift's aptly titled "Safe and Sound."
The performance wowed Blake Shelton, Shakira and Adam Levine (who scored a major coup Monday night when he snatched away a country singer from Shelton for the first time). Yet Levine seemed to know...

Episode 4 of The Voice‘s Season 4 Blind Auditions reminded me of one of those John Denver Am radio hits that provided the soundtrack to my grade-school years: “Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.”
That lyric definitely applies to the tryout rounds for NBC’s smash-hit singing competition: Sometimes the potential talent is staggering, and sometimes the proceedings feel all too pedestrian.
Tonight’s installment, alas, fell into the latter category. With only one contestant proving she might be on par with last week’s buzz-worthy vocalists, the whole hour fell into a predictable pattern of Carson Daly voiceovers...
