Even beyond the continental United States, 2020 has been the pits. Discovery Channel’s “Alaska the Last Frontier” returns for its 10th season on Sunday, Oct. 25, and if it’s not one thing up in Homer, it’s another.
Beyond Covid, this year, the Kilcher family must contend with wildfires, dead animals, a local bear, sleep deprivation, some gnarly injuries — yeah, it’s a whole thing.

Exclusive: Ahead of its NYC upfront this week, Discovery has handed a six-episode order to Legends of the Wild (working title), a docuseries that will follow two wilderness experts as they investigate, document and try to solve mysteries of the natural world.
With startling reports about strange animal attacks against humans, new apex predators changing the natural order and sightings of mysterious creatures that nobody can explain, the series will feature two childhood buddies who aren’t afraid of dangerous situations: Damian Duffy, a former Australian Army paratrooper and certified wilderness guide, and Matt Hoffman, a professional wildlife photographer and storm chaser.

Discovery’s “Expedition Unknown,” hosted by Josh Gates, is set to return for Season 5 on Wednesday, April 10, TheWrap has learned exclusively. We’ve also got your exclusive sneak peek above of Gates doing his best “Indiana Jones” throughout this run of adventures.
This season, Gates is after Nazi fortune and will try to learn the truth behind the actual Crystal Skull of Doom. Additionally, the explorer will also dive in the Great Lakes in search of The Griffon — the “Holy Grail” of lost American shipwrecks.
Gates will want to keep his diving gear handy for when he ventures below the surface of South America’s Lake Titicaca on the hunt for the Atlantis of the Andes. He’ll get to dry off in France, scouring the countryside to crack a devious puzzle that leads to a golden statue, per Discovery’s seasonal logline.
