Former Nickelodeon star Allie Dimeco recently posted a TikTok video in which she claimed she was once forced to kiss an older male on the set of “The Naked Brothers Band,” in which she starred as Rosalina. The series, created by Polly Draper, used the mockumentary format and starred Nat Wolff and Alex Wolff as fictionalized members of a family rock band. Rosalina was Nat’s love interest on the show, but their relationship hit a speed bump in Season 3 when she had a quick fling with a French man (Jake Hertzog).
Dimeco told her followers that she had been “stressed” while watching “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” the buzzy ID Discovery documentary about abuse allegations at Nickelodeon, and said “I went through trauma” of her own during her time at Nickelodeon.

In the musical mockumentary series starring Nat and Alex Wolff as fictionalized versions of themselves, Dimeco played the former’s love interest, Rosalina. During the third season, Dimeco’s character, who is a teenager, has a short-lived romance with a French man named Michel (played by Jake Hertzog). We kicked off August discussing the ins and outs of the photography industry in the American giallo Eyes of Laura Mars before getting serious with a discussion on the afterlife and religion in queer director Alejandro Amenábar‘s The Others. Now we’re somewhere in between drama and comedy with writer/director Emma Seligman‘s raucous comedy slash anxiety-driven Jewish horror film, Shiva Baby.
In the film, Rachel Sennott stars as Danielle, a young woman who is secretly doing sex work on the side of her College degree. As the film opens, Danielle is meeting with her married lover Max (Danny Deferrari) before heading to a Shiva, a week of Jewish mourning, where she meets her parents Debbie (Polly Draper) and Joel (Fred Melamed).
Danielle’s lies about her financial status and career plans quickly begin to surface when Max arrives with his wife Kim (Dianna Agron) and baby in tow.

ABC has opted not to renew for a second season The Company You Keep, its new drama series starring and executive produced by Milo Ventimiglia.
The Company You Keep, produced by Disney TV Studios’ 20th Television, did not perform as well as ABC’s two other midseason 2023 entries, fellow drama Will Trent, which has been renewed for a second season, and comedy Not Dead Yet, which is looking good for a renewal.
Still, Disney has longstanding relationship with Ventimiglia, who segued to The Company You Keep following his six-season starring turn on 20th Television’s hit NBC drama This Is Us. Based on that and the fact that The Company You Keep only premiered in midseason, there was talk that ABC may give the series a partial second season order to give it more time to find an audience.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Company You Keep Season 1 finale “The Truth Hurts.”] Well, at least The Company You Keep didn’t end its first season — which could be its only, given it hasn’t been renewed and so much up in the air due to the writers strike — on a major cliffhanger. In fact, it does a pretty good job of setting up what a second season could look like while also giving us an idea of what could be next for these characters in such a way that we’re not left with too many questions about what the future holds. Emma (Catherine Haena Kim) and Charlie’s (Milo Ventimiglia) plan to take down Patrick Maguire (Timothy V. Murphy) for good not only works, but Leo (William Fichtner) and Fran (Polly Draper) are also able to use that takedown to put an end to Frankie’s (Tony Shalhoub) for the neighborhood after...

One of the most notable things about Polly Draper is her voice. The Company You Keep actress is easily recognizable because of her ‘throaty’ voice, which has been called her trademark since the 1980s. However, Draper is more than just her voice. Draper’s career includes numerous accolades, and it’s become a family affair for her. Over the course of her long career, Polly Draper has played vastly different characters. She’s not known to repeatedly take on the same role and call it a career. Draper challenges herself with each new role. From working with her family to challenging herself with...

It may not be the second coming of Friday Night Lights or The Good Wife, but ABC’s Will Trent is probably my favorite broadcast network TV drama of the year. What I appreciate most about the Karin Slaughter adaptation is how quickly it established its characters, its location and the elements of its premise that are relatively distinctive. The show became what it aspired to be in a hurry.
No such alacrity accompanies ABC’s new drama The Company You Keep. Wade through two episodes of belabored exposition and The Company You Keep becomes a promising rom-com with thriller trappings and an interesting family backdrop — not a series fully realized but a series with some potential.

Before “This Is Us,” Milo Ventimiglia’s major roles felt of one voice. There’s Jess Mariano, the troubled young rebel on “Gilmore Girls”; Peter Petrelli, a tortured nurse struggling to control his powers in “Heroes”; Robert Balboa, Rocky’s son who’s stuck in his father’s shadow, even when he doesn’t know who he is without it. Ventimiglia’s specialty was playing the bewildered bad boy with a good heart, and whether it was a woman (like Rory), a calling (like Hiro’s), or a father (like Rocky), he just needed one thing to go right for the rest of his life to fall into place. In other words, he was the guy someone looked at and thought, “I can fix him” — and they were usually right.

After six seasons, Milo Ventimiglia — a star who began his career as Stars Hollow’s resident hellion on “Gilmore Girls” — is freed up from playing the benevolent patriarch on “This Is Us.” And, at least in theory, his new series brings together the two halves of his TV career. On ABC’s “The Company You Keep,” based on the Korean series “My Fellow Citizens,” Ventimiglia plays a con artist, but one who’s utterly committed to his parents (William Fichtner and Polly Draper) and adult sister (Sarah Wayne Callies). The conflict between obligations to loved ones and the desire to get out of the game creates tension and interest in the show’s first two episodes, as does genuine chemistry with co-star Catherine Haena Kim.
It’s less a critique than a simple description of the network-drama form to note that the relationship between the two leads is a tidy double game.

ABC said Monday that it has picked up The Company You Keep, starring and executive produced by This Is Us alum Milo Ventimiglia, to series. The drama, produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, was the last remaining “second cycle” pilot to learn its fate, but was a consistent frontrunner and a move to a series pickup always looked promising.
Like drama pilot Will Trent, which was picked up to series this month, The Company You Keep had started a writers room in anticipation of a series order. The project also had brought on seasoned writer-producer Phil Klemmer as co-showrunner. It will debut at midseason on ABC in 2023.

“It is a moment to allow people to just reflect on the story, and what has just happened” Rita Wilson reveals about the song “Because Love,” which the performer, songwriter and producer co-wrote with composer Laura Karpman for Eleanor Coppola‘s ensemble comedy/drama “Love is Love is Love.”
Wilson, who co-stars in the film, sings an excerpt from the song live and acapella in front of friends and family gathered to eulogize a dear friend who has died. The song in some ways serves as a circuit-breaker after revelations, laughs and tears. “When you’re at a gathering and somebody starts to sing,” Karpman agrees, “it focuses the energy in a really, really profound, funny, meaningful way and it brings everybody in the room closer,” she says. “It’s really a wonderful thing to do, and I think it’s a particularly wonderful thing to do in this period...
