Based in Trivandrum, India, Toonz Media Group will partner with Robert Chandler’s Space Age Films and Gina Carter & Stephen Fry’s Sprout Pictures in the U.K. to co-produce an adaptation of the classic tale “The Canterville Ghost” by celebrated Irish author Oscar Wilde.
L.A.-based Cinema Management Group (Cmg) handles international sales.
First published in 1887, Wilde’s tale is an eerie, heart-warming story with touches of humor, following Sir Simon de Canterville’s ghost, which has been dwelling in his ancestral castle for 300 years. His quiet life will be unsettled when an American family—a Minister, his wife and their four children— move into the house. The ghost tries with all his might to scare them away, but fails miserably. Moreover, he develops a deep tie with the family’s teenage daughter.

Cinema Management Group said on Thursday (May 7) that Asia-based Toonz Media Group has joined The Canterville Ghost as co-producer.
Robert Chandler’s Space Age Films and Gina Carter and Stephen Fry’s Sprout Pictures are already on board as animators on the Oscar Wilde Classic, which Cmg handles for sales.
Fry is joined on the voice cast by Freddie Highmore, Imelda Staunton, and Toby Jones.
The producers, assisted by Paul Grindey of Viewfinder Film, signed the deal with Toonz.

After rousing reactions in Venice and Toronto elevated The Humbling above its stealth fest title origins, the newly reconfigured Millennium Entertainment has closed a deal for U.S. distribution rights to the Barry Levinson-directed adaptation of the Philip Roth novel that stars Al Pacino. Millennium will launch the film into Oscar season, and will campaign to be reckoned in Academy season. The film stars Greta Gerwig, Dianne Wiest, Kyra Sedgwick, Charles Grodin, Dylan Baker, Dan Hedaya and Tony winners Billy Porter, Nina Arianda and Mary Louise Wilson. Millennium Films has acquired world rights to Baltimore Pictures’ The Humbling starring Al Pacino, Greta Gerwig and Dianne Wiest.
Barry Levinson directed the story of the fallout that ensues when an aging actor has a fling with a lesbian half his age.
The project is in post and is adapted from the novel of the same name by Philip Roth.
Levinson and Pacino produce alongside Jason Sosnoff at Levinson’s Baltimore Pictures. Kristina Dubin served as executive producer alongside Ged Dickersin.

Susan Sarandon and Richard Dreyfuss have signed on to join Ed Norton in "Leaves of Grass," a comedic thriller actor-turned-filmmaker Tim Blake Nelson wrote and is directing.
Nu Image/Millennium Film has come aboard to produce and finance the picture, which also sees Keri Russell in negotiations to hop on board as well.
The announcement was made at an informal press conference during the Toronto Film Festival attended by Norton, Nelson, Lerner, Davidson and Dubin.
Norton is portraying twin brothers, one an Ivy League philosophy professor, the other a small-time and brilliant marijuana grower. The professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown for a doomed scheme against a local drug lord (Dreyfuss) that unravels his life.
Sarandon plays the brothers' eccentric mother, while Russell will play a love interest.
