Frank Eliscu, William's great uncle, was a well known and respected
member of the National Sculpture Society. He was also selected to
sculpt the Heisman Trophy at the age of 23. Frank Eliscu was
responsible for many other noteworthy commissions including President
Gerald Ford's Official Presidential Inaugural Medal. In addition, Frank
gave William his first formal sculpting instruction on a Florida
vacation. William, and his father, Webb C. Eliscu, were both deeply
inspired by their uncle Frank. Frank Eliscu was born July 13, 1912, in
Washington Heights, New York. He passed away June 19, 1996, in
Sarasota, Florida.
