There are few absolutes in life, let alone in the world of horror; but this I find to be true: Herschell Gordon Lewis was appreciated in his time. Beloved, actually. Sadly passing away on September 26th, 2016 at the age of 87, he left behind a slew of grindhouse classics encapsulating everything from biker flicks to sex ed pieces. But Hgl will be forever known for a string of unique and groundbreaking horror films including The Gore Gore Girls (1972), his last opus before he took a 30 year sabbatical from filmmaking. And on the Hgl spectrum, it’s one of his best.
If you’re familiar at all with “The Godfather of Gore” (a moniker he wore as a point of pride) but haven’t seen The Gore Gore Girls, the differences between this and say, Blood Feast (1963), his first splatter extravaganza, are minimal. Made for a pittance of 63 grand, Ggg has all...

The Wizard of Gore and The Gore Gore Girls were recently released on Blu-ray by Image Entertainment and Something Weird Video. However, there wasn’t a big announcement for the release and it hasn’t really been covered online, so we wanted to let our readers know about it. Continue reading for cover art and additional release details. For fans of Herschell Gordon Lewis, we also have news of a project to restore some of his previously lost films.
The Wizard Of Gore (1970, Unrated, 95 Mins.): Is it magic? Or wholesale slaughter? Montag the Magnificent (Ray Sager), The Wizard Of Gore, is a seedy small time magician with a shocking stage act. Hypnotizing pretty young women from the audience to be his obedient volunteers, Montag then proceeds to mutilate them in a series of Grand Guignol illusions. A woman is cut in half with a chainsaw, another is drilled through...

Welcome to No Fact Zone’s weekly roundup of cultural references on The Colbert Report. From Darcy to Danger Mouse, String Theory to Shakespeare, we’ve got the keys to this week’s obscure, oddball, and occasionally obscene cultural shout-outs (hey!).
Howdy again, Zoners! What a week this was, filled with all sorts of news, and humorous moments from Stephen and the folks at The Report. I didn’t realized how much time had passed since we first began to search for Bin Laden until Stephen pulled out that cake. The Weakest Link? Seems like yesterday we saw that show come and go. What were your favorite segments?
Monday
Long Awaited “We Got Bin Laden” Party
What’s up Bin Laden, you are the weakest link. Goodbye!
Talk about a trip in time machine, I’d forgotten about this game. Weakest Link was a show that aired in American for...

Episode Number: 7059 (May 4, 2011)
Guests: Amy Farrell
Segments: Terrorists: They’re Just Like Us!, Stephen Searches for Shared Bathroom Key, Movies That Are Destroying America – Saving America Edition
Videos: Wednesday, May 4, 2011
Has anyone else noticed the new titles in the opening sequence? Monday it was “Win Laden”. It’s changed again to “Word Hurdler”.
So glad juicy gossip lover Stephen can bring us “all the 411 on Mr. 911.” Glam on the Lam? Maybe the worst product placement ever for Nestlé, Coca-cola, and Pepsi. And poor Princes Beatrice – well, I guess she’s not that poor if she can spend that much money on a hat like that.
And thank you, Stephen, for reminding us that Mississippi and Alabama should get a little media attention. Us Zoners can text “Redcross” to 90999 to make a $10 donatino; everyone can go to redcross.org to make a donation and find out how you can help.

Not that I should have to tell most of you the big TV news tonight but just in case; tonight is the season two finale for "Justified" so all of you out there who love you some Raylan Givens (I consulted IMDb for the correct spelling of that name since I've seen like three different versions in the comments) are going to be very sad for a while. I missed the beginning so I've got season 1 in my Netflix queue now and only recently (like, today, when I consulted IMDb) became aware that Jacob Pitts of EuroTrip fame is on this series which makes it extra intriguing to me because I love that movie so much that "Scotty Doesn't Know" was my ringtone for almost a year. And will be again, once I get around to putting it on my new phone. Anyway, here's your Wednesday night TV:

Hello, Zoners!
I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to another week of wonderfulness. I had everything for this post written and ready to go, but with shock and surprise, only moments ago I scrapped my original greeting. For right now, late on Sunday, I am in front of my TV set, watching President Obama, and trying to absorb the news that nearly 10 years after the attacks on the World Trade Center, bin Laden is dead. As a New Yorker, this naturally resonates profoundly with me. I sit here, remembering that day in September, which was so beautiful when it began, and so shattered.
I feel I know how Jon will handle this; I wonder what Stephen will do. Jon can be sincere, emotional, and himself. Stephen’s character complicates things, but I have complete faith that he is up to the task.
Now, as I take a breath,...
