Though many feared Jessie Eisenberg’s megalomaniac had been nixed entirely, it looks like Lex Luthor will be featured in the final cut of Justice League after all.
At least, that’s according to the official Warner Bros. website (with a tip of the hat to ComicBook.com), which lists the former Social Network star alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Raymond Fisher, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J.K. Simmons, whose Commissioner Gordon is said to hold a very small role.
For Eisenberg, it’s still unclear how much screen time will be allocated to his devious mega-villain, though we assume Justice League will pay more attention to Steppenwolf once the mass invasion gets underway. Also of note, Lex Luthor didn’t appear in Sunday’s final trailer whatsoever. Couple that with those earlier reports of Luthor being left...

It’s one of the big questions that has loomed over Justice League ever since Joss Whedon climbed aboard: will the two-time Avengers director be accredited for his contribution to the Warner Bros. event movie?
Turns out the answer to the question is a resounding ‘yes’ – but there is one caveat. As was revealed in Warner’s press release today, Whedon has officially received a credit for his work on the Justice League screenplay, as opposed to a director’s credit, which leads us to believe that his tinkering was much more significant than simply “fine-tuning” the work already in place.
Now, the official Justice League docket reads that the story was composed by Joss Whedon and DC stalwart Chris Terrio, while previous reports have asserted that the November blockbuster is being angled as a “direct sequel” to Batman V Superman. That’s not all that surprising, either, particularly when...

Hello again, dear readers, and I hope a lot of you have gotten out to see Ant-Man at this point. To help make up for my recent absence, this week’s return of Trailer Trashin’ brings you my looks at both of the big DC Comics movie trailers to come out of San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month. Now, I use my X-ray vision on the new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Premise: Gotham City’s own vigilante, Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck), travels to Metropolis to take on Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill), fearing what would happen if the latter is kept unchecked. As Batman and Superman confront one another, a new threat arrives to put mankind in greater danger than it has previously known.
My take: Before we start, I’ve decided to again change the format I use for these columns. In order to...

On April 21, Tony winners Anika Noni Rose (“Caroline, or Change”), Lachanze (“The Color Purple”), and Tonya Pinkins (“Jelly’s Last Jam”) joined David Zayas (“Dexter”), Ray Fisher, Michael Mastro, and others for a reading of “Fabulation, or the Re-Education of Undine” at New World Stages. Written by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and directed by Tony winner Kenny Leon (“A Raisin in the Sun”), the social satire set in New York City tackled themes of poverty, race, health care, and womanhood in the name of nonprofit organization Opening Act and theater education. The charity event saw 19 students take the stage to perform an original work inspired by their lives and “Fabulation” prior to the play reading. “Take a look around you,” Opening Act Executive Director Suzy Myers Jackson prompted the audience at the start of the program. “Find 10 people and realize that statistically, only three of you will graduate,” she said,...

With Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Dwayne Johnson, Ezra Miller, and the all-star cast of Suicide Squad in place, the only two uncast heroes for announced DC Cinematic projects are Shazam and Green Lantern. Since Ryan Reynolds is definitely not reprising his role, the reboot/sequel to Green Lantern will need a new leading man. While we are five years away from the announced release of Green Lantern, I would expect Warner Bros would want their new hero set to...

Besides the fans, the biggest winners of the recent DC Warner Bros. announcement were Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher. With a simple press release, each went from up and coming actor to movie star with their own franchise. Momoa, who’ll play Aquaman, is obviously thrilled. We have yet to hear from Miller, who […]

The fact that Cyborg is getting his own movie is a great step forwards when it comes to diversity in superhero movies, but that didn't stop fans being genuinely shocked when it was announced as part of Warner Bros.' DC Comics slate! As it turns out, they weren't the only ones who were surprised when the press release hit. It seems that little known stage actor Ray Fisher - who will play Victor Stone on the big screen - didn't realise what he was signing up for either, but he's definitely happy about it. "I didn’t know the extent to which DC and WB had planned on taking my character. When I signed on, I just wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film." He may not have any movie credits,...

Additionally, Warner Bros announced “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa, will be released in 2018 and gave the greenlight to a solo “Cyborg” film, to be released in 2020, starring African-American actor Ray Fisher. Slowly but surely, Warner Bros. and DC Comics are filling out the ranks of their big screen Justice League. We've known for a while now that Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot are playing Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, respectively, and rumors have suggested actors like Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher will be taking parts like Aquaman and Cyborg. There are still a few names that have not yet been revealed, but today we have news of another huge casting announcement: Ezra Miller will be playing the first live-action feature film version of Barry Allen, better known to most as The Flash. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news, noting that The Flash will be getting his very own solo film in 2018. It's worth noting that this date is about one year after Zack Snyder's Justice League Part One, and there's no mention in the trade report if...

After much speculation and debate, it has finally been confirmed that Zack Snyder will indeed helm the Justice League film, which will be split into two parts. The first instalment will arrive in 2017 with the second one following in 2019. To clarify, this is not Justice League and its sequel, this is one single movie being split into two parts because, well, this is Hollywood we’re dealing with and that’s what they do out there.
Of course, we have absolutely zero plot details on the film at this point, but we do know that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Amy Adams will all reprise their roles. Presumably, the film will also feature Aquaman, The Flash and Green Lantern, as each of those characters are getting their own solo outings in the near future. We also know that Shazam and Cyborg will be getting solo films in the coming years,...

As the increasingly busy Batman/Superman crossover ‘Dawn of Justice’ gathers pace, more and more names have been added to the cast on what seems like a daily basis:
Jeremy Irons as Alfred! Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor! Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman! Director Zach Snyder and WB seem determined to cram as much of the DC Universe as they possibly can into the ‘Man of Steel’ sequel, desperately wanting for themselves what Marvel has already achieved.
Two names recently added to the mix are Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Both are solid picks to join DC’s cinematic universe. Aquaman, a founding member of the Justice League of America is King of the Oceans and a man who can converse with sharks, whales and dolphins, as well as possessing the pre-requisite strength and sense of righteousness that goes with being a DC superhero. On...

Momoa is still trying to call the Aquqman news a rumor it seems. But when Jimmy Kimmel asks him a direct confirm or deny question, Momoa can only say, "That would be pretty exciting, wouldn't it. We'll have to wait and see". So is Momoa Aquaman or is he not Aquaman? If you recall, a similar situation played out with Momoa regarding the role of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy. Due to an inability to come to terms on salary, the role went to WWE wrestler, Dave Bautista, despite Momoa being the first choice for the role. Regardless of how this all shakes out, filming on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently underway. The film stars Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg. Co-starring are Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, Tao Okamoto and Callan Mulvey.

As was revealed a few days ago, Warner Bros have big plans for their DC Comics superhero films. Last year's "Man Of Steel" kicked off their current iteration of the DC-verse, but it's 2016's "Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" that will really kick off the studio's answer to Marvel's wildly successful pictures. The movie looks to be the first in a run of as many as three movies a year, and aside from Henry Cavill's Superman, will also introduce Ben Affleck's Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, and Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher. But it's long been thought that other characters would also crop up here in cameos, and it seems that we've just found out one of them. "Game Of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa was announced as being involved in the project a while back, and rumors had it that he might be playing villain Doomsday,...

After wondering for so long whether Warner Bros. would make a greater commitment to its DC Comics properties on film, it recently announced that a Justice League film would be following on the heels of 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although no casting announcements have been made, it will likely see the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and the recently announced Ray Fisher as Cyborg. That leaves, at most, three vacancies on the superhero team if it follows DC Comics’ regular lineup of seven, which may include Green Lantern, the Flash and Aquaman. Some fans and observers have questioned Warner Bros.' wisdom of jumping from one quasi-team-up film to a conceivably massive...

Prepare yourself to visit a cinema in 2016 to see…. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.Clearly intended to lead – as everyone and their super-powered uncle could have predicted – into Warner Bros. planned Justice League film, Batman V Superman will see DC Comics’ two titans (along with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher's Cyborg and whoever else shows up in cameo form etc.) duking it out over some difference of opinion, egged on by Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, until they realise their forces are better united.Though he shot some early footage quite a while back, Snyder is now officially rolling the cameras on the film in Michigan, with Henry Cavill back as Supes alongside Affleck, Eisenberg, Gal Gadot,...
