Cro-Mags singer-bassist Harley Flanagan got into a violent altercation with staff members of Destroy Zine, a magazine that covers art, music, and counterculture. The incident happened by the merch section at Cro-Mags’ show Tuesday (September 12th) at Cafe 611 in Frederick, Maryland, with each party giving a very different account of what happened.
Flanagan said two people in ski masks maced him and his crew and sliced him with a razor. Destroy Zine, meanwhile, accused Flanagan of sexually assaulting a female staff member, and claimed that six members of the hardcore veteran’s crew jumped one of their editors.
On Instagram, Flanagan wrote the following account of the incident:
“Great show tonight with Dri with the exception of one incident. A few people that everyone thought was with one of the bands, but turned out not to be caused a ruckus and one of them pulled out-mace by the merch table.

Michael Imperioli may be best known for playing Christopher Moltisanti on the TV series The Sopranos, but he has over 100 other screen acting credits and several writing credits (including multiple episodes of The Sopranos). His first writing credit came on 1999 crime drama Summer of Sam (watch it Here), which was directed by Spike Lee… and during an interview for the documentary Ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel (and Other Rock & Roll Stories), Imperioli revealed that he visited a witch and used otherworldly means in an effort to get Summer of Sam into production!
Scripted by Imperioli, Lee, and Victor Colicchio, Summer of Sam has the following synopsis: During the summer of 1977, a killer known as the Son of Sam keeps all of New York City on edge with a series of brutal murders. The philandering Vinny unwittingly almost becomes a victim of the psychopath, and soon he and numerous people in his orbit — including his wife,...

Michael Imperioli says he took supernatural steps to help him materialize his 1999 movie “Summer of Sam.”
The “Sopranos” and “White Lotus” actor was living at the Chelsea Hotel at the time and, in a new documentary about the notoriously haunted locale, recalls meeting with a witch in order to push the crime thriller “through the studio system” in Hollywood.
“I had just begun writing ‘Summer of Sam’ with Victor Colicchio — we wrote that script together,” Imperioli says in an exclusive clip from “Ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel.” “I really wanted to get it made. So I met somebody who was living here who was a witch, who said she could help me get it made, but it wasn’t going to happen the way I thought it would. I was very ambitious at the time and wanted to get that made, so resorted to tapping into otherworldly means to get it through the studio system....

New York hardcore stalwarts Cro-Mags have unveiled their first new music in 20 years, sharing three new songs “Don’t Give In,” “Drag You Under” and “No One’s Victim.”
All three songs find Cro-Mags at their punishing and ruthless best, and frontman Harley Flanagan tells Rolling Stone the tracks are “all in the same vein” as the band’s older material, but “more refined. I’m just turning up the heat.”

After ages of quarrel, the members of the New York hardcore group the Cro-Mags have reached an agreement over the band name. Bassist-vocalist Harley Flanagan announced Monday that he had won the rights to use the name, while vocalist John Joseph and drummer Mackie Jayson would continue to tour as Cro-Mags “Jm.” There will still be about three months’ more confusion, though, until Joseph’s Cro-Mags starts using the “Jm” suffix.

Anthony Bourdain’s last meal on the final original episode of CNN’s Parts Unknown was as simple as could be: Hard-boiled eggs served up by his old friend, the musician and artist John Lurie, capping an episode devoted to their old stomping ground, Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
“I came for heroin and I came for music,” said Bourdain about the punk & drugs era of pre-gentrified 1970s-early ’80s Lower East Side. Among the guests on this finale: Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of the band Blondie, rapper and artist Fab Five Freddy, Harley Flanagan of the band Cro-Mags, director Jim Jarmusch and post-punk avant “no wave” icon Lydia Lunch.
To mark the episode, the Explore Parts Unknown website – a collaboration between CNN and media company Roads & Kingdoms – has put together a 10-song “Lower East Side” playlist (see it below).

For years, Lee Ving, the vocalist and leader of impish punk bruisers Fear, has been teasing the release of a song the group recorded with John Belushi in 1981. He's finally putting out the tune — the appropriately snotty-sounding "Neighbors," which was supposed to accompany the Belushi movie of the same name — digitally on Halloween and as a special seven-inch in November. But even before the decades-long wait for its release, the origins of the recording were steeped in strife.
The SNL actor became a fan of Fear after catching them on the L.
