- Vasilis Fotopoulos was born in 1934 in Kalamata, Greece. He was an art director and set decorator, known for Zorba the Greek (1964), Orestes (1997) and You're a Big Boy Now (1966). He died on January 14, 2007 in Athens, Greece.
- Elia Kazan's 1963 film "America, America" apparently included 75 sets created by Photopoulos. Kazan removed his name from the credits saying no one would believe that a young Greek boy had created such sets. The film won the Oscar for Best Art Direction and the statute was given to Gene Callahan.
- Painter and theatrical set designer who at various times worked for the National Greek Theatre, the Public Theatre of Northern Greece, and the Liberal Theatre.
