So here we are, the final issue in Year Two of the Eleventh Doctor. Obviously that doesn’t affect The Doctor much, as Year Three begins almost immediately and he will find new escapades aplenty to get tied up in. What is does affect is the creative team, as this is the swan song of the Si Spurrier and Simon Fraser team, and as a reader you hope they go out with one final, creative bang. For me, this has been one of the inconsistent titles, great some months, average at best others, but all can be forgiven with a strong finale, right?
Last issue had quite a lot going on, the two biggest things being the reveal of The Squire as a Dalek hybrid sleeper agent sent to betray The Doctor, and the seemingly fatal wounding of Absolom Daak,...

Been a little while since I checked in on the Eleventh Doctor, and I was curious to see how much timey-wimey stuff I had missed. Scripter Si Spurrier I know mainly from 2000Ad and Judge Dredd, and I liked the way he wrote that iconic character. Artist Simon Fraser also showed up in 2000Ad as memory serves (let’s be honest, most talented British creators do at some time or another) though I can’t remember on what strip. Looks a good team to me.
Thankfully the Who books always include a little recap page at the beginning, so even if, like me, you’ve missed a few issues they get you up to speed. The Doctor is currently travelling with companion Alice Obiefune and someone called The Squire, a supposed ally who turned out to be a...

As fun as monthly, or episodic, comics are, sometimes to fully appreciate a storyline or stories with a unifying theme you need to be patient and wait for the trade collection. For me, a lot of the Dr. Who titles come under that umbrella, as they establish a momentum that often sweeps you along, and it’s a momentum that you want to keep going rather than have it abruptly end until next month. This collection, Conversion, collects together issues 11-15 of the series, and is probably most notable for being the swansong of writer Al Ewing, who’s quirky writing and sense of humour will be missed.
The overarching storyline here is concerning an entity called, unsurprisingly, The Entity, and the chase across to space to find it.

With a force of personality capable of bending time itself and all the energy of a star’s exploding heart, the Doctor blasts into the hollow, tragic life of a woman with so much to offer – and gives her the chance to scream ‘Geronimo!’ at the thrills, colours and terrors of an infinite universe! It all starts with an alien dog terrorising London and from there they blast off into the stars with all new adventures from the Eleventh Doctor and his new companion.
So here’s my review of the Eleventh Doctor Volume 1. Reviews are cool. At least, that’s what I like to tell myself in the mirror each morning. Doing reviews for Doctor Who comics is also very cool, especially when it is a...

Titan Comics has shared exclusive solicitations for its Doctor Who comic collections.
The publisher will be releasing comic book store exclusive editions of the graphic novels ahead of their general bookstore releases.
Writer Nick Abadzis and artist Elena Casagrande have collaborated on Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Vol 1 - Revolutions of Terror, collecting the first five issues of the series.

After getting the rights for future Doctor Who comic adventures, Titan Comics – around the same time as Matt Smith’s run on the show ended – announced three new ongoing series featuring the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors in adventures that would take place in between the already-aired TV seasons. With the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors adventures to bow first, around the debut of Peter Capaldi’s new Doctor.
Confession time: I’ve been hate-watching the latest series of Doctor Who for a number of episodes now. No matter how hard I try, I just cannot get behind the latest doctor or his latest adventures. Writer Rob Williams (Ordinary) and artist Simon Fraser (Grindhouse, Nikolai Dante) multiply the chills, in a haunting new Doctor Who adventure into the soul of music! Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #3 hits comic stores this Wednesday October 1st.
A Devil Haunts The Midnight Crossroads… And Musicians Are Its Prey! There’s a devil out on the bayou, or so they say… Something stalking bluesmen through the swamps of Mississippi, offering them talent beyond imagining, worlds at their feet – in exchange for their souls! When Alice asks the Doctor if they can visit one of her mother’s musical heroes, she’s initially disappointed. Is Jones, a forgettable singer whose talent seems to be that of disappearing in a crowded room, really the colossal talent who brought passion, creativity and meaning to her mother’s life?
And what does he have to do with the nightmarish deals taking place in the dead of night…...

As an ageless, time-travelling alien, you have plenty of, well, time to fit all sorts of adventures and mischief in. And obviously it isn't only us who thought this, as next week Titan Comics is launching not one but two Doctor Who comics.
Peter Capaldi might be taking command of the Tardis on the small screen, but that does not mean that the stories of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor have ended. Titan has gathered an impressive lineup of comics talent to bring us the continuing adventures of David Tennant and Matt Smith's incarnations of the Time Lord.
Writer Nick Abadzis (Hugo Tate), artist Elena Casagrande (Suicide Risk) and colourist Arianna Florean are working on Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor, which sees the Tardis arrive in New York ahead of the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations.
While the Doctor has just lost Donna, he finds himself on...

The suicide of Joe Bodolai, the comedy veteran who killed himself in Los Angeles over the holiday weekend, has sparked conversation amongst his former colleagues, friends and those on the web wishing to chime in, for better or worse.
Bodolai's suicide does not come as a surprise to some of his friends and former colleagues.
The former "Saturday Night Live" writer and "Kids In The Hall" producer, friend and Canadian comedy collaborator Mark Breslin told the Toronto Globe and Mail, "was a pretty unhappy guy." Further, Breslin said, "I think he was a victim of the ageism in the comedy business and show business, especially in Los Angeles."
In his final blog post, which has been taken as a sort of suicide note, Bodolai lists "Leaving Canada" and "Moving to Los Angeles" as two of his primary regrets.

Comic creator tweets are fun to follow during Comic-Con International week, because they tend to keep appearing all night long. From pictures of run-ins between Stan Lee and Taylor Lautner to hang-outs with "A Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin, the feed was loaded with fun this morning.
It's also a great week to watch for art posts. Take, for example, a really awesome Jon Snow portrait posted by Michael Cho. Check out his link, some on-stage panel shots and some words from Simon Fraser on the passing of artist Lucian Freud.

This summer's comic book movie roster already promised to be a good one, but early buzz on "X-Men: First Class" seems to be getting better and better. That's more than can be said for the 3-D films in the minds of the comics folks in our feed. Even David Slade is bashing the medium.
Brian Michael Bendis, meanwhile, just wants his movies to have an infected zone somewhere in the plot. His explanation, a description of Tony Harris' new Starman tattoo and a "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" trailer reaction all made the rundown this morning.
