Former “Home & Family” co-host Mark Steines has been set as the host of Nat Geo’s upcoming “Animal ER Live,” the cable network said Thursday. This marks the TV journalist’s first small-screen job since he was abruptly ousted from Hallmark Channel last June.
Here’s the official logline for “Animal ER Live,” which premieres March 30:
Capturing the fast-paced drama and intensity of a hospital procedural mixed with the unbreakable bonds between pets and their owners, each episode of Animal ER Live will trail teams of emergency veterinarians and specialists as they work tirelessly through the night to save the lives of our pets from coast to coast, giving viewers insight into the extraordinary and unpredictable world of urgent animal care. After failing to get Mark Steines’ retaliation and wrongful-termination lawsuit tossed, Hallmark Channel’s owner is now aiming to have the former Home & Family co-host’s high-profile attorney Lisa Bloom pushed out of the case.
“This motion arises because Defendants retained The Bloom Firm, and that representation prevents The Bloom Firm from pursuing this adverse representation against Defendants,” Crown Media declared earlier this week in a lengthy federal court filing (read it here) seeking to have the Bloom Firm and its practicing namesake disqualified from the more than 2-month-old legal matter. “Defendants have not waived the conflict of interest and despite Defendants’ request for The Bloom Firm to withdraw as counsel, The Bloom Firm has refused,” the William Abbott-run company added, with a request for a hearing in downtown Los Angeles on January 7.

Crown Media got their family values handed to them today by a federal judge who unequivocally rejected the Hallmark Channel owner’s desire to toss ex-Home & Family co-host Mark Steines’ retaliation and wrongful termination lawsuit.
“Defendants’ motion to dismiss is denied, and Defendants’ motion to strike is denied,” wrote District Court Judge Cormac Carney definitively on Tuesday. Though the William Abbot run Crown will not see the matter remanded back to the state level, they lost every part of their November 11 filed motion.

The blast radius from allegations of sexual harassment by Home and Family creator Woody Fraser just legally expanded for Hallmark Channel owner Crown Media Family Networks in a wrongful-termination and harassment suit from a former chef on the homespun show.
Longtime food stylist and chef Shanti Hinojos asserts in an 11-claim complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on October 22 that she was incorrectly kicked out the door of “wholesome” Hf in December 2017 for “subpar job performance” by allies of alleged serial harasser and ex-ep Fraser. To put in context, this follows a wrongful termination suit against Crown Media and others by ex-hf co-host Mark Steines last month over his firing earlier this year for what the ex-Entertainment Tonight frontman says was sticking up for women on the show who had alleged harassment by Fraser.

A former chef for Hallmark Channel has filed a lawsuit against the network’s parent company, alleging she was fired for reporting harassment by one of the network’s executive producers.
Shanti Hinojos, a former food stylist and lead chef for Hallmark’s “Home & Family,” named Crown Media and the production companies behind the show in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday. In the suit, Hinojos claimed she was fired from the show after reporting sexual harassment by Woody Fraser, creator and executive producer of the show.
The suit describes Fraser as “[a] harasser who went to great lengths to create a vulgar, sexually charged hostile work environment,” specifically targeting women. Hinojos accuses Fraser of making inappropriate and unwelcome comments about her body and making repeated sexual advances, a hostile work environment exacerbated by his “unhinged temper.”

A former chef on the Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family” show alleges she was fired after reporting executive producer Woody Fraser for sexual harassment.
Shanti Hinojos filed a lawsuit against Crown Media, the channel’s parent company, claiming that Fraser harassed her for years and the network failed to respond. She alleges that he was removed from the set only after she and other women contacted attorney Lisa Bloom, but that subsequently Fraser’s allies concocted a pretext to fire her.
The suit is the second to allege rampant sexual misconduct on the family-friendly morning show. Mark Steines, the former host of the show, filed suit in September, claiming that he was fired because he supported the women who made allegations against Fraser.
Fraser, 83, was the executive producer of the show. He had a long career in morning TV, and a close association with Fox News boss Roger Ailes.

Former Home & Family co-host, Mark Steines, who was let go from the Hallmark channel series in May, filed a lawsuit on Thursday for retaliation and wrongful termination.
According to Variety, the lawsuit from Steines is against Crown Media, and he claims that he was fired from the series because he spoke up in support of female workers on the show who were harassed by executive producer, Woody Fraser.
What's more, Steines is alleging that he witnessed Fraser sneaking up on females who worked on the show and rubbing their shoulders.
In addition to that, he claimed that a photo was doing the rounds on the set back in 2017, and it found Fraser “grabbing the face of young a female producer and forcing a kiss on her lips as she resisted and grimaced.”
Determined to take action, Steines said that he sent the photo to his rep for the network to take action against Woody.

Updated with Crown Media Family Networks statement: Mark Steines has filed a lawsuit against Hallmark Channel owner Crown Media, four months after he was abruptly removed as co-host of the network’s flagship series Home and Family. His four-claim suit filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court alleges that his exit came after he stood up in support of two women on the show’s staff who had accused the show’s then-executive producer Woody Fraser of sexual harassment, and he was eventually fired for his stance.
The suit (read it here) names Crown Media Family Networks and Crown Media Holdings as defendants and accuses them of retaliation and wrongful termination. It says Steines “through his representatives regularly warned and alerted Defendants that Executive Producer Woody Fraser harassed and verbally abused producers on the show. Defendants took no action on his complaints.”

A former Hallmark Channel host sued the network on Thursday, alleging that he was fired after he supported two women who made sexual harassment claims.
Mark Steines, the ex-host of “Home & Family,” says that he repeatedly complained about Woody Fraser, the 83-year-old executive producer of the show. Fraser is veteran of daytime television, having launched “The Mike Douglas Show” and “Good Morning America,” and served as an early mentor to Roger Ailes.

Mark Steines, the former “Home & Family” co-host who exited the Hallmark Channel show earlier this year, filed a lawsuit against Hallmark parent company Crown Media on Thursday, alleging that he was fired after supporting two women who brought sexual-harassment claims against the series’ executive producer at the time, Woody Fraser.
According to the suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, “In the spring and summer of 2017, two courageous ‘Home & Family’ female producers asserted claims of sexual harassment against Mr. Fraser and Defendants. Plaintiff Mark Steines stood up in support of the women by providing truthful information to the women’s attorneys in support of their claims. NEW YORK -- There's a change at the top of McEnroe. CNBC's troubled talk show, which has skimmed along in the ratings since its July debut, has parted ways with executive producer Woody Fraser. The network confirmed Thursday that Fraser had left the show Tuesday and said it was a "mutual decision." He has been replaced by Andrew Meyer, who had been a supervising producer. Meyer's new title is interim executive producer. Despite the changes, a CNBC spokeswoman said the network was still committed to McEnroe. Fraser, a television great who was a part of The Mike Douglas Show and Dick Cavett Show, was brought in earlier in the summer. Meyer has been with the show since it began. His credits include American Idol, SportsCentury and Trading Spaces: Home Front.
