Wayward Pines, Season 1, Episode 8, “The Friendliest Place On Earth”
Written by Patrick Aison and Rob Fresco and Chad Hodge and Blake Crouch
Directed by Tim Hunter
Airs Thursdays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
One of the most interesting things about Wayward Pines—and one of the reasons why it’s been so successful as a summer potboiler show—is the way that it’s a series where the central conflict is constantly in motion. Every week the stakes seem to shift one way or the other, peoples’ allegiance to one side or the other blurring as their motivations become clearer. Ethan’s trying to get out of town, then he’s trying to keep his family safe, then he’s trying to keep the town safe. Kate goes from placid resident of the town to the most extreme member of its insurgent group. And Pam goes from zealous follower of...

Wayward Pines, Season 1, Episode 7, “Betrayal”
Written by Rob Fresco
Directed by Steve Shill
Airs Thursdays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
There’s been an interesting shift that’s taken place in Wayward Pines since the events of “The Truth.” Before the real nature of the town was revealed, so much of the drama and intrigue was based on the odd way that all of its inhabitants were behaving, with a prevailing Stepford Wives or Twilight Zone aura. Everyone in town felt as though they were making an effort to imitate real behavior, but didn’t quite grasp it beyond surface mechanics. Since the big reveal, the curtain has pulled back to reveal that the town’s inhabitants are indeed very human. And being human makes them all the more problematic: they’re not easy to control, don’t like not knowing what is going on, and are willing to fight for what they want.

"Weeds" is coming to a close at the end of its current season and "The Big C" is getting four episodes to wrap up in 2013, so Showtime's in the market for a new edgy, female-led drama. And according to the Hollywood Reporter, the premium channel's now developing one with Jodie Foster. The Oscar-winning actress is attached to direct and executive produce crime series "Angie's Body," which is described as a "'Sopranos'-like drama" that "centers on a shrewd and lethal woman who runs a family-based crime syndicate." Rob Fresco (of "Heroes" and "Jericho") wrote the script. If picked up to series, "Angie's Body" will be Foster's second project with Showtime -- she produced the 1998 movie "The Baby Dance" for the network, with Stockard Channing and Laura Dern in the lead roles. Showtime's got two new series set for next year...

AMC's western returned last night to only modest ratings with 2.5 million viewers tuning in. With competition from the Olympics closing ceremony and no "Walking Dead" lead-in, that number was a far cry from the 4.3 million who tuned in for the pilot and down from the first season finale's 2.9 million audience. Matt Smith has confirmed that he's set to remain on "Doctor Who" through an eighth season which would keep him on the show until at least 2014. The currently in production seventh season of the show goes to air in coming weeks.
Showrunner Steven Moffat reportedly convinced Smith to stay for another year after pitching him ideas for an eighth season which would be Smith's fourth year in the role. [Source: The Sun]

Jodie Foster will direct and produce an upcoming drama pilot for Showtime. The project, called "Angie's Body," focuses on a sexy and dangerous woman who leads a family crime syndicate.
The project is Foster's first directorial effort for TV, Deadline reports.
Foster will executive produce the project along with writer Rob Fresco ("Touch," "Heroes") and Russ Krasnoff ("Community").
A two-time Oscar winner for acting, Foster has put much of her focus on behind-the-scenes roles over the past several years. She has directed three feature films: "Little Man Tate," "Home for the Holidays" and "The Beaver." Foster also produced several movies, including "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," "Waking the Dead" and "Nell" (in which she also starred).
Foster has much less experience with television directing and producing. Her only previous TV directing credit was for an episode of "Tales from the Darkside" in 1988. In 1998, she returned to an off-screen television...

With the imminent departure of Weeds and The Big C leaving a void in Showtime’s once-robust “women with a secret” programming, enter Jodie Foster, one of entertainment’s most famous women with a secret (i.e, that she makes excellent zucchini bread). Foster has signed on to direct and executive produce Angie’s Body, a mob drama from former Heroes writer Rob Fresco about a “shrewd, sexy and, when necessary, lethal woman” who runs a family-based crime syndicate—like a female version of The Sopranos, let’s say, so that we're in chorus with everyone else who will ...

Though her film career has been trundling along nicely, Jodie Foster is itching to get back behind the camera and into more television. To make that happen, she’s signed a deal with Us channel Showtime to direct and executive produce and direct mob drama project Angie’s Body. With a script from Heroes / Touch veteran Rob Fresco, the series focuses on a woman who is the head of an organized crime outfit. She's the female equivalent of Tony Soprano, who deals with the various family (and Family) issues that crop up in her line of work. It’s not Foster’s first telly producing credit, nor her first time with the channel, as she worked on 1998 TV movie The Baby Dance. For this one, she apparently intends to stay behind the camera rather than taking what sounds like a solid leading lady role.Currently, it’s all just at...

"I think I may spend some time on cable," Jodie Foster told the Oregon Herald at Comic-Con last month, about where she might be going next. "I think it's a good outlet for what I do. What I do are personal stories and, in some ways, usually involve family and they have equal amounts of comedy and drama, sometimes an absurdist twist, and they're very verbal. And I like constructing complex characters and hopefully seeing this sort of tapestry of how they interact with each other over time evolve. Well, TV's the place for that." And it looks like those words are coming true. Foster will return behind the camera for her first effort since "The Beaver" with Showtime's "Angie's Body." Penned by Rob Fresco ("Heroes," "Crossing Jordan") the series adds a unique twist to the organized crime drama, and will center on a deadly woman who runs her own syndicate,...
