Stars: Jack Rowan, Michael Hough, Fra Fee, Robert Nairne, Nigel O’Neill, Louisa Harland | Written and Directed by Chris Baugh
Despite its title Boys from County Hell isn’t another backwoods hicksploitation film. It’s actually an Irish horror comedy that pits a road crew against the Emerald Isle’s own species of bloodsucker. Writer/director Chris Baugh (Bad Day for the Cut) has expanded the short he did with co-writer Brendan Mullin to feature-length, and the results definitely don’t suck.
Eugene (Jack Rowan; Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands) lives in Six Mile Hill, a rural Irish town where, according to legend, Bram Stoker got the inspiration for Dracula. Eugene and his buddies S.P. and William (Fra Fee; Monochrome) get a bit of amusement scaring tourists who’ve come to see the cairn that marks the grave of Abhartach the legendary bloodsucker who inspired Stoker.
But all is not well in Eugene’s life.

Deep Purple’s 21st studio album Whoosh! comes with dire warnings and dry wit, all propelled by one of the tightest still-working bands playing today. The record was produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin, who helped Pink Floyd build The Wall, taught Tim Curry to Read My Lips, and brought suspense to the Alice Cooper discography. For their third collaboration, Ezrin invited Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse, and Don Airey back to Nashville, where Deep Purple recorded 2013’s Now What?! and 2017’s inFinite.
The first single off the album, “Nothing At All,” is a cautionary observance on what people have done to the planet we’re renting short-term. The second single, “Man Alive,” casts a worried glimpse into the future. The single “Throw My Bones” takes on time and space. The music videos for each of the songs feature a Spaceman sitting in for the band.

Famed music documentarian Murray Lerner, who captured Bob Dylan going electric and Jimi Hendrix's legendary Isle of Wight performance, died Saturday from kidney failure, Variety reports. He was 90.
Lerner's son, Noah, said the filmmaker died at his home in Long Island City, New York after falling ill about three months ago. "He was a complete filmmaker," Noah Lerner said. "A cinematographer first and foremost, but someone who also wrote, edited, produced and directed."
Along with Dylan and Hendrix, Lerner's myriad subjects included the Who, Miles Davis, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Leonard Cohen.
