- Jimmy Gardner was born on August 24, 1924 in Newmarket, Suffolk, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Frenzy (1972), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991). He died on May 3, 2010 in London, England, UK.
- Awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal (the highest award other than the Victoria Cross that can be awarded to non-commissioned flight crew) as an air gunner with No. 10 Squadron during WWII. The medal was one of several that were stolen by thieves from the Yorkshire Air Museum near York in November 2014.
