Opposition to the Academy’s plan to award eight Oscars prior to the live telecast continues to grow, with more than 350 new names — including more than a dozen Oscar-winning editors, cinematographers and production designers — added to the petition sent last week to Academy president David Rubin urging a reversal of the plan.
Among the industry professionals signing are Oscar-winning cinematographers John Seale (“The English Patient”), John Toll (“Braveheart”) and Dean Semler (“Dances With Wolves”), and Oscar-winning editors Richard Chew and Paul Hirsch (“Star Wars”), Mikkel Neilsen (“The Sound of Metal”), Pietro Scalia (“JFK”) and Zach Staenberg (“The Matrix”).
Oscar-winning production designers Hannah Beachler (“Black Panther”), Barbara Ling (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), Adam Stockhausen (“Grand Budapest Hotel”) and David and Sandy Wasco (“La La Land”) also signed on.
Cinematography will be presented during the live show, but editing and production design are among the eight awards to be presented during the 4 p.

“It was my Star Is Born moment,” Legends of Tomorrow‘s Jes Macallan says of her very memorable and hilarious musical turn in last Tuesday’s episode.
First, viewers were treated to a glamorous scene of what Ava thought she sounded like singing Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison.” That fantasy was followed by the reality of Ava’s drunken performance in front of fleeing club-goers. But for Macallan, the entire experience was “like my heaven. I was like, ‘This is where I belong!'” the actress recalls with a laugh, gesturing grandly. “I am not a triple threat; I’m a double threat.

Even though we brought you images taken from next week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow just days ago, The CW have coughed up even more photos. This time, believe it or not, the goodies pertain to the adventure to follow one week later, that being “Wet Hot American Bummer.”
So, as you peruse this latest gallery, one of the first things you’ll notice is a returning Maisie Richardson-Sellers. But before you get all excited over a potential Vixen comeback, I’ll have to step in and remind you of how the actress is actually playing Charlie, an entirely new character. Either way, Mick Rory really seems to like what he sees.
For the most part, the slideshow is comprised of pictures showing the Waverider crew disguised as camp counselors. Hilarious as they may each appear, it’s actually John Constantine blending in that amuses me most. So far,...

Keiynan Lonsdale officially became part of the regular cast for Legends of Tomorrow in this week’s episode of the time-travelling superhero show, but we’ve still yet to see him mix it up with the crew of the Waverider. Things won’t stay that way, though, as these promo photos for an upcoming installment show Wally West fully integrated into the gang.
The episode in question is the 14th outing of season 3 and is titled “Amazing Grace.” Judging by these images, it’ll mostly focus on two pairings – the romance between Amaya and Nate and a possible burgeoning friendship between Zari and Wally. Actress Tala Ashe has previously teased how her character would react to Kid Flash joining the team, revealing that she won’t take to the speedster at first:
“By the end of Episode 311, Zari is like, ‘Okay, these team members are my family,’ and then this...

Barring a few new episodes of Legends of Tomorrow, us fans of the Arrowverse have had to endure another brief hiatus due to the 2018 Winter Olympics. Fortunately, though, that’ll come to a close next week and we can once again enjoy our favorite superhero shows.
Today, however, we’re going to discuss what’s to come a few weeks down the line, specifically the week of March 12. And if the synopses offered today are any indication of what to expect, well, then we should be in for one hell of a ride.
Let’s start with Legends, shall we?
On Monday, March 12, it appears as though the Waverider crew will finally close in on the final Totem in “Amazing Grace,” thus making the current arc feel somewhat like a video game. (Come on, don’t tell me this scavenger hunt didn’t make you think the same thing.) In this instance,...

The CW has released the first promo for next week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and in it we see what happens when the team arrives in the 1980s. Rory doesn’t seem overly keen on being there, but he’ll need to get used to it pretty fast with Damien Darhk now in a position of power in the White House. Of course, the Legends will have some back up in the form of Obsidian, a hero we met a younger version of back in the “Justice Society of America” episode.
Darhk was the big bad of Arrow‘s fourth season, and while he somewhat underwhelmed there, he’s so far been way more impressive as an ally of the Reverse-Flash. That character’s plan has yet to be revealed, though we’ve known for a while now that he’ll ultimately end up assembling the Legion of...

Just last night, I was reflecting on how Arrow spawned such a rich universe – now a multiverse – from its humble beginnings as an unrelated followup to Smallville. With timelines being rewritten and characters appearing in live action that we previously never thought possible (Wild Dog, anyone?), we truly are living in a golden age of fandom.
As can be expected, synopses released by the network allow us to gaze into the not too distant future of our favorite superhero shows. Please note that The Flash wasn’t included due to the fact that November 8 is Election Day in the United States, therefore the Scarlet Speedster won’t have a new episode to offer that week.

The CW has today released the official description for the April 7th episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and it reveals that the team’s quest to bring down Vandal Savage will take a very unexpected turn when Rip Hunter puts a difficult and divisive decision in front of them in exchange for bringing them one step closer to stopping the villain.
For more details on what to expect from this episode of Legends of Tomorrow, here’s the description for “Progeny”:
Rip (Arthur Darvill) tells the team they are headed to the future to take out a powerful ally that Savage (guest star Casper Crump) needs in order to conquer the world. However, when Rip reveals the ally is a 14 year-old boy (guest star Cory Gruter-Andrew) who will one day grow into an evil dictator, the team is split about the morality of killing a child, even if it does save the world.

Special Mention: Gojira (Godzilla)
Written and directed by Ishirô Honda
Japan, 1954
Ishiro Honda’s grim, black-and-white post-Hiroshima nightmare stands the test of time. This allegory for the devastation wrought on Japan by the atomic bomb is quite simply a powerful statement about mankind’s insistence to continue to destroy everyone and everything the surrounds us. With just one shot (a single pan across the ruins of Tokyo), Honda manages to express the devastation that Godzilla represents. Since its debut, Godzilla has become a worldwide cultural icon, but very little is said about actor Takashi Shimura, who adds great depth as Dr. Yamane; his performance is stunning. Special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya originally wanted to use classic stop-motion animation to portray Godzilla, but time and budget limitations forced him to dress actors up in monster suits. Despite this minor setback, Tsuburaya’s scale sets of Tokyo are crafted with such great attention to detail,...

Birthday shoutouts go to Joe Penny (above), who is 58, Mick Fleetwood is 67, Michele Lee is 72, Solange Knowles is 28, and Mindy Kaling is 35.
In ratings news, True Blood was actually up in its final season opener. Why?
Meanwhile, Teen Wolf returned on par with last season.

Here’s the trailer for The Last of Robin Hood, with Kevin Kline as Errol Flynn, Dakota Fanning as the underage actress he becomes involved with, and Susan Sarandon as her mother. The trailer also features a glimpse of Bryan Batt.

If, like us, you're missing "Fringe" since its series finale this winter, you're in luck! Series star John Noble reunited with the "Fringe" team to shoot the short film "Friend," and you can watch it right here! It's very much in the vein of "Fringe," so while it might not fill the void, it'll certainly ease the withdrawal symptoms.
Written by Noble's daughter, Jess Noble, the short film was directed by "Fringe" Dp David Geddes, edited by "Fringe" viral marketing genius Ari Margolis, and scored by musical contributor Jeremy Little. The paper flowers in the film were even designed by Noble's "Fringe" co-star Jasika Nicole.
"There is a lot to this little film and I look forward to sharing it with Fringe fans who appreciate the mysterious side of life," Noble tells TVGuide's Damian Holbrook.
The synopsis is as follows: A lonely, grief stricken man of wealth finds a new...

I’ve said since the third episode of Glee’s first season that the show’s weakest quality was the filler in between the songs. The writing is embarrassingly inconsistent in tone, the characters are prone to erratic shifts in emotion and motivation, and from one week to the next the show’s threads never really connected. The music though, the music was pretty damn good. The song choices, the mash-ups, and the new arrangements on old classics were and remain little nuggets of gold that the Glee fan has to dig out of each episode. Well stop sifting. Glee Encore singles out the big musical numbers and lets you play them back to back, shuffled, or on an individual basis. It's like the "Glee Jukebox" feature on later Glee season releases but it has them all on one disc, not separated across 3 or 4. From here on out, every season...

I'm gonna say it upfront: I didn't like this week's episode. After the heights of the Madonna episode and last week's heart-string-tugging tearjerker, this week was a real let down. I wasn't crazy about the music selections and the story was weak. But hey, at least that means plenty of shots!
Hope you've got your drinking pants on. You're gonna need 'em.
We start off with the Glee kids cracking up while watching a video on Kurt's laptop. It's a video of Sue dancing to "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. Kurt apparently stole it from Sue's locked filing cabinet when she sent him to get her hormone replacement injections during Cheerios practice. Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first shot in the very first scene of the episode. Sue Sylvester would never leave something so incriminating where it could be found so easily.

"Glee" seems to have taken a page out of Andy Samberg's "Saturday Night Live" Digital Short playbook. Lately, the McKinley High School kids and teachers have stepped off the stage and made videos, thanks to Artie and the mad skills he's picked up in the A.V. Club.
Of course, Sue Sylvester's (Jane Lynch) "Vogue" video takes the cake, but tonight Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) decided to gain herself a "Bad Reputation" with her own video for "Run Joey Run," a Top 5 hit for David Geddes in 1975. She conned her three favorite boys into performing with her in the hopes that she'd come off looking edgier if she had more than one guy vying for her affection.
The video was perfectly cheesy, complete with fog machines, split-screen phone calls, and a cameo appearance by Sandy Ryerson (Stephen Toblowsky) who played Rachel's father -- accidentally shooting her when he means to get her boyfriend,...

Well, Glee fans, that was an exciting night in the concert hall, eh? Twisted romance, all kinds of meta references to "going viral," Molly Shannon on drugs, the terrible terrible terrible sight of Will Schuester rapping, and some seriously not-great songs. But for once, they were kind of supposed to be bad! Spoiler Alert from here: read on for more! The episode had slightly more of a plot through-line than the last few episodes. Somebody made a hotness list of our friends in New Directions: Quinn was on top, Rachel was on the bottom. This led to a surprisingly enjoyable...

"Glee's" May 4 episode, "Bad Reputation," was jam-packed with '80s pop-culture references. If you're not quite old enough to have rocked a side ponytail and hammer pants, or if you just need a quick refresher, Zap2it has you covered! Are you as '80s-savvy as Will Schuester and Rachel Berry?
"Did she just do the cabbage patch?" This dance's name is derived from Cabbage Patch dolls - slightly creepy chubby-cheeked baby dolls that became a popular collector's item in the '80s. Dr. Dre and N.W.A. had a hit song about the dance. Do you want to learn to move like Sue Sylvester? Get some lessons from the video below.
Speaking of Sue, she was honored by an '80s icon tonight -- Olivia Newton-John! In case you forgot who she was, Newton-John isn't too proud to remind you. "It's Olivia Newton John," she said. "The star of 'Grease'?...
