Judy Nugent, who portrayed one of the twins on the early TV sitcom The Ruggles and a girl who flies around the world in the arms of the Man of Steel on a heartwarming Adventures of Superman episode, has died. She was 83.
Nugent died on Oct. 26 “surrounded by family at her Montana ranch after a short battle with cancer,” according to a family statement shared by her daughter-in-law and Battlestar Galactica and Chicago Fire actress Anne Lockhart (the older daughter of Lassie and Lost in Space star June Lockhart).
The younger daughter of a prop man at MGM, Nugent also appeared in two films directed by Douglas Sirk: as a wise-cracking tomboy who tries to get a blinded widow (Jane Wyman) to snap out of it in Magnificent Obsession (1954), and as one of the daughters of Fred MacMurray and Joan Bennett’s characters in There’s Always Tomorrow (1956).

Yes, it's really been 60 years since Mickey Mouse Club premiered on ABC. To cap off the D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., Sunday, a few original Mouseketeers—including Sherry Alberoni, Sharon Baird, Bobby Burgess, Tommy Cole, Darlene Gillespie, Cubby O'Brien and Doreen Tracey—reunited on stage to reminisce with Lorraine Santoli, author of The Official Mickey Mouse Club Book. "The Mickey Mouse Club was a television phenomenon," Santoli said of the beloved and family friendly variety series, which aired intermittently on ABC and Disney Chanel from 1955 to 1996, "and it's something that fans still love 60 years later." (It's no coincidence that Disneyland is in the midst...

Damn, it’s 1963 all over again in Missouri.
The police are using tear gas and billy clubs to control a group of peaceful protestors. All that’s missing is German Shepards and fire hoses but hey, rubber bullets more than make up for that.
I often wonder seriously, once so seriously, someone asked me to “Please stay here,” if I should take a gun and just end me before Lapd does.
The ‘here’ she was referring to was Earth.
Bet that fucked you up.
A bit over a year ago, in a restaurant two drunken white people thought they could use me as a punching bag.
They attacked me.
They hit me.
They were two, I was one.
I defended myself, they punked out.
I was the one arrested.
There is videotape evidence of my innocence.
I took a plea deal on the criminal charge.
W H Y?
Why would...

Washington — President Barack Obama, saluting Carole King's five decades as an award-winning singer-songwriter, said Wednesday that music often is a place where people seek comfort and inspiration during trying times.
Two days after much of Moore, Okla., was flattened by a powerful tornado that killed 24 people, Obama pledged anew that the nation will assist with the town's recovery and rebuilding for as long as it takes.
"Eventually, life will go on and new memories will be made. New laughter will come. New songs will be sung," he said during a tribute concert for King in the East Room of the White House. "And that's often why we turn to music during trying times, for comfort and for inspiration, and sometimes just for a good diversion."
Calling her a "living legend," Obama presented King with this year's Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, an award given by the Library of Congress.

When The Talk returns today on CBS for its third season, Sara Gilbert is going to look a little less made up than usual. The show's creator and one of its five co-hosts is going without make-up for the season premiere. And that's just one fun thing the five women — Sara, Julie Chen, Sheryl Underwood, Aisha Tyler and Sharon Osborne — have prepared for this fall.
Photos from CBS
Prior to The Talk, Sara was known largely for her role as Darlene Connor on the hit 1990s sitcom Roseanne. While continuing to take roles in films and on shows like The Big Bang Theory and HawthoRNE, she never shared too much about her personal life. So when she created a show where she'd have to talk about her feelings, her thoughts and her family, we tuned in, hoping to know more about one of Hollywood's hippest gay moms.
