Jean Giraudoux was born on October 29, 1882 in Bellac, Haute-Vienne, France. He was a writer, known for Wicked Duchess (1942), Angels of Sin (1943) and Ondina (1977). He was married to Suzanne Boland. He died on January 31, 1944 in Paris, France.
Was nominated for Broadway's 1956 Tony Award as author, adapted by
Christopher Fry, of Best Play nominee "Tiger at the Gates."
His play, "The Madwoman of Chaillot," was awarded a 1976 Joseph Jefferson Citation for Play Production at the Old Town Plays Theatre in Chicago, Illinois with Belinda Bremmer-Carr, Michael Merritt, and directed by Patrick O'Gara.
Diplomat and playwright, he is the father of Jean-Pierre Giraudoux born 29 December 1919 in Paris and died there 9 June 2000 . Jean-Pierre, author co-founded the Prix Médicis and a foundation in his father's name.
