- Composer
John began his performance career as a jazz bassist while still a high school student in southern Maine. His interest in film music developed while studying jazz composition and arranging at Berklee College of Music (BMus, film scoring, magna cum laude, '90), and he moved to Los Angeles in the fall of 1990 to attend USC's well known film music studies program, completing that program in 1991. After several years of composing and orchestrating music for television, in 1995 John received an Emmy Award for his work on "Aladdin (1994)". During his twelve-year composing career, John has written music for a dozen films and more than 200 television episodes on various series, as well as for concert and theater. While continuing to focus on film and television work, John has recently turned his attention back to concert and jazz projects.
