At the rate he actually finishes things, it could be another decade before we ever see James Cameron's live-action movie based on the popular manga Battle Angel Alita (he originally announced it at Comic Con in 2002). Given how long it has taken Avatar to get going, and that it may still be delayed before we see it, I figured it'd be at least another 5 years before we saw another James Cameron project in theaters. But his 3D-animated adaptation of Battle Angel Alita, a Japanese manga series, has apparently already gone through production design and development, according to one of the movie's designers and artist's, Mark Goerner. Market Saw, a blog dedicated to all things 3D movies, sat down with Goerner to talk a lot of details about Battle Angel, which he has finished working on after a year and a half-- "Honestly, [Cameron] is one of the smartest and most resourceful people I've met," he told them. Much of the interview gets into the nitty-gritty details of computer animation, but the way moviemaking is going these days, we all may as well start learning about it. ...
