The first season of “Foundation” ended in Nov. 2021, it’s now 2023. So you’re forgiven if you’d forgotten this beautiful show exists. Consider yourself reminded, as Apple TV+ announced Wednesday the series — adapted from the groundbreaking science fiction novels by Isaac Asimov — will return for its second season this summer.
Of course, we don’t know precisely when this summer, but there’s also a neat first teaser for “Foundation” Season 2 to tide you over. You can watch it above right now.
It’s mostly vibes of course, but as you can see, Salvor Hardin (Leah Harvey) and Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) are still really worried about where things are headed. And yes, the latest Brother Day clone of Emperor Cleon is still the most handsome despot in the galaxy, which is exactly what you’d expect since he’s played by Lee Pace.

Carly Pope is known as an icon from her time playing Sam McPherson on the WB series Popular.
She’s premiering in Neil Blomkamp's new horror film Demonic on Friday, August 20th. It’s the first film Neil has done in six years, and the two have worked together before.
TV Fanatic got the chance to chat with her about her new movie and rise to fame working on Popular.
Hi Carly. Thanks for chatting with me. You’re known as an Icon from the WB series Popular. What was your favorite part of that series?
Wow. That is a very kind, very kind label to receive. Sam hated labels! Truly, though, I’m honored.
That show was groundbreaking in so many ways, and I love that so many people still love and remember it (when it’s not even streaming). I loved the blend of heart and humor in the show.

“The Boys” creator and showrunner Eric Kripke has said he wanted to use the second season of his Amazon Prime Video superhero-vigilante drama to address the white supremacy he was seeing play out on social media. Enter Stormfront (Aya Cash), a seemingly indestructible new member of the Seven who, at first, is loved for her kick-ass female energy but is soon exposed as a Nazi. In the finale episode, “What I Know,” the other women finally get a chance to express their justified anger (and provide a bit of wish fulfillment for the audience) by taking her on.
What starts as a moment for Maeve (Dominique McElligott), who previously expressed concern that nothing ever changes, to take some power back becomes the ultimate team-up between her, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara). Although they can’t defeat Stormfront, who eventually flies out of harm’s way, there is catharsis...

The hot war in a politically and culturally polarized nation comes to a climax tonight with the season finale of “Homeland.”
The Showtime drama has stayed close to home for the most part in its seventh season. Claire Danes’ intrepid ex-CIA officer Carrie Mathison has been waging an increasingly desperate battle against fake news, political provocateurs, wily Russians, disillusioned FBI traitors, and ideologues and opportunists on Capitol Hill.
Mandy Patinkin’s Saul Berenson has gone from a federal prison at the start of the season to an office in the West Wing as the National Security Advisor to the embattled President Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel).
The fourth episode of the season, “Like Bad at Things,” eerily reflected the national debate on gun violence as a standoff between the FBI and a red-state family harboring right-wing firebrand Brett O’Keefe (Jake Weber) erupted into a massacre fueled by stockpiles of automatic weapons.

Between the sprawling ensemble and heavy dosage of graphic violence and nudity, “Altered Carbon” isn’t hiding the fact that it wants to be Netflix’s science-fiction answer to HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” “Carbon” even recruited two of “Thrones'” most beloved directors: Alex Graves and Miguel Sapochnik, the latter of which won an Emmy for “The Battle of the Basterds” and is famous for directing other epic hours like “The Winds of Winter” and “Hardhome.”
It turns out that “Altered Carbon” doesn’t just have “Game of Thrones” DNA behind the camera. One Reddit user (via Av Club) paying very close attention to “Carbon” spotted a big “Thrones” easter egg in the show’s third episode, titled “In a Lonely Place.”
The stain-glassed windows of the police station in “Carbon” have the same seven-pointed star that represents the Faith of the Seven and the High Sparrow in “Game of Thrones.

TV has never been more beautiful, more daring, and more dramatic, and that’s owed to the new level of talent being given a chance to redefine what might be possible within this medium today. Since the dawn of the 21st century, we’ve witnessed an incredible array of directors (some native to TV, some fleeing the fluctuating feature film world) come to episodic storytelling to discover its potential.

True story: We began this list with a wider range of genres in mind, but the number of shows we wanted to recognize grew so large that we decided to split it into drama and comedy series (we’ll get to comedies down the line). Here’s how studios say they see it: Sure, we really want to hire women directors. But there’s almost no studio movie that isn’t big budget, and we can’t find women who have the experience necessary to handle the really big movies. (Never mind Colin Trevorrow. Or Marc Webb. Or Gareth Edwards. Or Jon Watts.)
Of course, that logic is a vicious cycle at best, but here’s a chance to break it. Director Reed Morano’s dazzling execution of the first three episodes of Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” suggests another excellent source for future women directors: top cinematographers.
