Think Pennywise the Dancing Clown is scary? He's nothing compared to Alexander Skarsgärd. The 41-year-old star made a surprise appearance at Hollywood's Tcl Chinese Theatre Tuesday to support his brother Bill Skarsgärd, who plays the villain (a.k.a. Bob Gray) in the movie It. (Their brother Gustaf Skarsgård, who stars in History Channel's Vikings, also hit the red carpet.) As Bill posed for photographers, looking straight-faced as ever, Alexander (in an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture shirt, suit and tie) snuck up on him and proceeded to make a series of silly faces. At one point, Alexander snarled behind him and placed a hand on Bill's shoulder. The younger Skarsgärd, who...

I read Stephen King’s iconic 1986 horror novel It for the first time earlier this year in preparation for the upcoming feature film adaptation. The book is phenomenal, but for many, their introduction to the novel’s demonic antagonist – who often takes the form of a murderous clown named Pennywise (aka Robert Gray) – came in the 1990 […]

After donning tusks for Kevin Smith, Justin Long is back in the saddle – but this time he won’t be morphing into anyone or anything else. For Robert Gray’s indie thriller The Lookalike, that responsibility lands firmly on Gillian Jacobs’ shoulders.
In what sounds like a brilliant matrix of character, plot and nuttiness, the story follows a couple of gangsters (Jerry O’Connell and John Corbett) who are keen for a deal to go through with crime boss, William Spinks. When the object of his desire, Sadie, is killed, his goons enlist an aspiring actress (Jacobs) via an addict (Long) to fool Spinks and ensure the masterplan goes off without a hitch. Also along for the ride are Scottie Thompson, Gina Gershon, Luiz Guzman and Steven Bauer.
Judging by that synopsis alone, the flick has all the makings of a cult classic right off the bat. As is often...

Quick catch up if you missed the first installment of this series: I’m a guy who missed a lot of generation-defining movies from my youth (though I did not, as many readers apparently suspect, intentionally not watch them as some sort of devious scheme). Now I’m watching them as a 30-year-old in 2014 with no nostalgia for them. It doesn’t make my opinion any more or less valid, but hopefully it’s an interesting one. Or that’s the hope, anyway. This week, I watched Stephen King’s It. I’ve read the book, but not seen the movie. I think I might have seen a brief part of the original airing when I was six (I remembered seeing a black dog, and that was indeed in the movie), but my parents probably didn’t want me watching it because I had gotten freaked out by Pet Sematary not long before. (I...

Day 1 of the 2013 Pitchfork Music Festival started sweat-soaked and lively with impressive turns from artists playing amid oppressively hot heat and a dazzling Friday finale from Björk.
Humid conditions that saw a "low" of 90-degrees by nightfall sapped little energy from fest-goers. There were no hula hoopers or cosmic jam dancers (maybe they were all at Northerly Island for Phish?) but we did spy one man being led out of Björk's performance in a headlock.
As a nice gesture/safety precaution, Pitchfork Fest staff posted a few clean garbage pails of bottled water for fest-goers to grab for free; within 90 minutes, little more than wilted labels and melting ice were left behind.
(See more photos of the festival below.)
Here's a look at some of the Friday highlights:

Tom Hahn of Holly Hill, Fl has been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of his roommate, Robert Gray. Witnesses say the death followed when the two men argued over the cooking of a pork chop. Hahn then shot Gray in the head.
Sure, there may have been more to the crime than just a piece of meat, although a pork chop does indeed seem to be the trigger. Roommates of the two men told police that Hahn and Gray actually had a long history of disagreements and not getting along. According to a police report, Hahn had even told his two other roommates that he planned to shoot Gray if the man came home drunk.
To emphasize this, Hahn loaded his rifle with three bullets.
It is not clear whether or not Robert Gray was intoxicated when he returned to his home on Tuesday (Dec. 11) night, but a fight soon broke out anyway.
