I love John Landis. I know not everyone shares this opinion. He has been controversial ever since his involvement in the Twilight Zone: The Movie accident that claimed the lives of his leading man, Vic Morrow, and co-stars Myca Dinh Le and Shin-Yi Chen, both of whom were children. It’s an impossible discussion to have in any kind of satisfying way here; there was an entire book written about it (Outrageous Conduct by Stephen Farber and Marc Green) and a lengthy court case at the end of which Landis was absolved of legal responsibility. Marc Guggenheim, one of the members of the screenwriting team that is developing The Flash movie for DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers recently caught up with MTV and spoke about why starting the franchise with the Silver Age version of the Flash was a no brainer especially with Hal Jordan headlining the Green Lantern for the studio this coming summer 2011. For those who unaware, Guggenheim and his screenwriting partners Marc Green, and Greg Berlanti wrote multiple drafts of The Green Lantern script for that film and wrote the sequel’s treatment as well. Guggenheim told MTV there approach to The Flash was exactly the same as Gl’s.
