Austin Butler is going from blades to bikes as he goes from Dune: Part Two to the upcoming period drama, The Bikeriders. Butler revealed that his immediate start on The Bikeriders meant that he couldn’t shave his hair for Dune 2 as time was not allotted to have his hair grow back, so he’s actually wearing a prosthetic bald cap. He got to keep his blonde locks and Focus Features has now released the new trailer for The Bikeriders, which Butler stars in with Tom Hardy.
If you recall, The Bikeriders was originally set for a fall 2023 release via Disney’s Searchlight. The studio ended up selling the film (in an unusual move) to Focus, who decided to set it up as summer counter programming. This might have been a smart move as Butler is sure to come off Dune: Part Two an even bigger star than he was a few months ago.

Focus Features’ new trailer for The Bikeriders features a lot of smoking, a bit of fighting, and, naturally, motorcycle riding. The second trailer also reveals how tight the relationship is between Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two) and Tom Hardy’s characters and the extent they’ll go to to protect the club.
In addition to Tom Hardy and Austin Butler, the cast includes Michael Shannon (Bullet Train), Mike Faist (West Side Story), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead). Jeff Nichols wrote and directed the drama which was originally scheduled for a 2023 release. Focus Features is now planning a June 21, 2024 theatrical release.

Austin Butler and Jodie Comer are ready to drive off into the sunset together — that is, unless Butler’s biker gang boss, played by Tom Hardy, gets in the way first.
The core trio behind Jeff Nichols’ “The Bikeriders” drive the motorcycle-centric drama set in the 1960s. Inspired by Danny Lyon’s iconic book of photography, “The Bikeriders” centers on the subculture of the era’s motorcycle riders. Comer plays Kathy, a strong-willed member of the Vandals gang who’s married to a wild, reckless bikerider named Benny (Butler). Kathy recounts the Vandals’ evolution over the course of a decade, beginning as a local club of outsiders led by Johnny (Hardy) and later turning into a dangerous crime-driven gang.
Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Norman Reedus also star.

Focus Features has landed on a new release date for The Bikeriders from writer/director Jeff Nichols. Following its 2023 festival run, the crime drama was gearing up for an awards season run with a December 1st theatrical release. The release was postponed during the strikes, and Focus Features’ The Bikeriders will now open on June 21, 2024.
The film currently sits at 85% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it “an affectionate take on a much-romanticized subculture” and “a vivid, fleshed-out insider’s eye view of a subculture populated by authentically hard-edged lost souls”.
Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Elvis), Emmy Award winner Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Oscar nominee Tom Hardy (The Revenant), and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) lead the cast. The ensemble also includes Michael Shannon (Bullet Train), Mike Faist (West Side Story), and Boyd Holbrook (Logan).

Director Jeff Nichols wanted three magnetic faces to anchor his motorcycle movie, “The Bikeriders”, which just launched at the Telluride Film Festival. He and his casting director Francine Maisler landed a stellar multinational cast for this three-hander led by Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, and Jodie Comer.
The Nichols/Maisler collaboration began with “The Tree of Life” producer Sarah Green. “There’s this young guy who could be the next Terry Malick,” Green told Maisler, who checked out “Take Shelter” and met with Nichols back in 2010. “He was very quiet and humble,” Maisler said at a Telluride interview with Nichols.
Maisler went on to cast “Mud” and every Nichols film since, including “Midnight Special,” which featured an early role for Adam Driver, and “Loving,” which landed Irish actress Ruth Negga an Oscar nomination. “You just put an actor in his hands and they can fly,” said Maisler. “You have a script.

Los Angeles, July 29 (Ians) Hollywood director Jeff Nichols’ latest star-studded film ‘The Bikeriders’ will debut in theatres on December 1.
The film boasts stars including Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Boyd Holbrook, Norman Reedus, and Michael Shannon.
As per the Collider, the film will follow the history of a fictional mid-century Midwestern biker club, detailing its initial beginnings as a refuge for misfits and outsiders, and charting its gradual descent into a violent criminal organization, leading to conflict with the club’s original members.
This mirrors the path that many motorcycle clubs took in those years; initially founded by veterans dissatisfied by society, many motorcycle clubs became brutal criminal gangs, dealing in drugs, prostitution, and violence.
It will be Nichols’ first film since 2016, when he released the sci-fi suspense film ‘Midnight Special’, and ‘Loving’, a historical drama detailing the path to the legalization of interracial marriage.

Following Amazon’s dating of Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn for November 24, with an expansion on December 1, it’s another great sign by studios that the release calendar isn’t getting erased and capsized; many Oscar-bait titles are being pushed further or to Tbd due to the current SAG-AFTRA strike.

Walt Disney Pictures announced Friday that Jeff Nichols’ latest film, “The Bikeriders,” will debut in theaters in December under the 20th Century banner.
The film was previously announced as a period drama set in the 1960s and is inspired by Danny Lyon’s photography from his 1967 book from which the film derives its name. It follows the rise of a fictional, Midwestern motorcycle club. The club evolves over the course of a decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life.
The film stars a bevy of A-list talent including Tom Hardy, Nichols alum Michael Shannon, Jodi Comer, Austin Butler, Norman Reedus and Body Holbrook.
Nichols is writing and directing the feature after a seven-year hiatus. His last feature was the Joel Edgerton/Ruth Negga-starring drama “Loving” in 2016. Nichols is also the director of “Midnight Special,...

Premiering Saturday night in the Tribeca Film Festival’s Spotlight Narrative category, Eric Larue is an intense and devastating account of the after effects of a school shooting, but the focus is almost entirely on the parents of that boy who shot and killed three male classmates and is now in prison. Adapted by Brett Neveu from his own 2002 stage play, it has taken on new weight in the two decades since it was first presented at Chicago’s Red Orchid Theatre in light of the seemingly endless numbers of school shootings and the fact that the number one cause for deaths of young people is now by gun. But for his feature film directorial debut actor Michael Shannon was most interested in looking at the effects of this traumatic life-changing incident from the point of view of the parents, those of the kids killed, and particularly the pair of...

Exclusive: Michael Shannon is set to make his directorial debut with Eric Larue, a movie based on the Brett Neveu play that debuted in 2002 at A Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago, where Shannon is a founding member. Neveu is also adapting the script.
The film had been scheduled to shoot in Arkansas. But since the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v Wade triggered that state’s Act 180 of 2019 which bans nearly all abortions, including cases of rape and incest, the filmmakers have withdrawn from Arkansas and will now be shooting in and around Wilmington, Nc.

In the world of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, firemen don't put out blazes, they start them, and anyone who reads books is at risk of having their lives consumed in flames. With her latest movie, The Mummy, hitting the big screen this weekend, Sofia Boutella looks to continue her string of scene-stealing roles by coming aboard HBO's Fahrenheit 451 film.
Multiple sources, including THR, reveal that Boutella is joining Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Chronicle) and Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Bug) in HBO's Fahrenheit 451 film, which will be directed Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes). According to THR, Boutella will play "Clarisse, an informant caught between the competing interests of Montag and Beatty."
Shannon is set to play Captain Beatty, Montag's superior and mentor at the firehouse, while Jordan will executive produce and play the rebellious young fireman Guy Montag. Also executive producing the project are Sarah Green, Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen,...

A film adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel “Fahrenheit 451” is in the works at HBO, according to Variety. Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon are on board to star in the lead roles.
Published in 1953, Bradbury’s dystopian novel is set in a futuristic American city, where people do not read books and firefighters start fires, instead of putting them out. As reported by Variety, Jordan will play Guy Montag, a young fireman who is hired to burn the belongings of those who read outlawed books; but he end up rebelling against his boss and mentor, fire chief Beatty, who will be played by Shannon.

One of Hollywood’s most underrated actors who seems to pop up in all the best underrated films, Michael Shannon and Creed actor, Michael B. Jordan are teaming up to join HBO’s Fahrenheit 451. Ramin Bahrani to direct for HBO.
Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon are set to star in HBO Films’ Fahrenheit 451.
Ramin Bahrani will co-write and direct the film through his Noruz Films, while Amir Naderi will co-write.
The film, based on Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Fahrenheit 451, depicts a future where media is an opiate, history is outlawed and ‘firemen’ burn books.
At the centre of this is Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor and struggles to regain his humanity.
Jordan is set to star as Montag, while Shannon will portray Beatty, Montag’s fireman captain and mentor.
The casting announcement comes more than a year after the film was first put into development at the premium network and sees Michael Shannon returning to HBO following his turn on Boardwalk Empire.
