Frank Perry’s version of the shootout at the O.K. Corral shapes up as a fine western and an even better drama — the revisionist angle is supported by an excellent script and thoughtful, challenging characterizations. Tombstone’s frontier folk are dirty, vulgar and corrupt, but Stacy Keach and Faye Dunaway generate a rough-hewn romantic harmony. Harris Yulin’s Wyatt Earp is a revelation as well — if this were modern times Earp would get a lock on city hall politics and go into the land development racket. The beautifully filmed movie looks terrific on disc. Alex Cox delivers a solid audio commentary as well.

January 19th has some really unique home entertainment releases that should make fans of cult cinema happier than Jason Voorhees on the first day of summer camp. Scream Factory is debuting William Friedkin’s The Guardian on Blu-ray this week and one of my personal favorites from my childhood, The Ice Pirates, is also getting an HD overhaul, courtesy of the Warner Archive Collection.
Vinegar Syndrome is also keeping themselves busy with a duo of cult classic releases, Nightmare Weekend and Luther the Geek, and for those of you sci-fi TV fans, season one of 12 Monkeys as well as the final season of Continuum arrive on Blu and DVD this Tuesday as well.

William Friedkin, the Academy Award winning director of The Exorcist, delivers a new kind of fairy tale for adults. A handsome young couple finds the perfect live-in babysitter to look after their newborn child.

Screenwriter behind the hit movies When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle
Nora Ephron, who has died aged 71 after suffering from acute myeloid leukaemia, brought her sharp New Yorker wit, laced with a sentimental streak, to glossy Hollywood romantic comedies, with Oscar-nominated screenplays for When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Sleepless in Seattle (1993), the second of which she also directed. They were the nearest and most successful attempts to revive the spirit of the sophisticated Katharine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy battle-of-the-sexes comedies of the 1950s, and the softer-edged Doris Day/Rock Hudson vehicles of the 1960s.
Ephron's parents, Henry and Phoebe Ephron, were also writers of romantic comedies – including Desk Set (1957) for Hepburn and Tracy – who based a 1961 Broadway play, Take Her She's Mine, on their daughter's rebellious college days. It was turned into a film two years later, with Sandra Dee in the role of the teenager. Later, Ephron would...

On Tuesday, June 26, a rep for Nora Ephron confirmed that the leukemia-stricken author was gravely ill and not expected to make it through the night. Indeed, she passed away later that evening. Her husband, writer Nicholas Pileggi, and two sons Jacob and Max Bernstein from a previous marriage, were with her. A funeral is planned for Thursday.
The Hollywood legend is best known for her contributions to the romantic comedy genre. After writing "Sleepless in Seattle," she went on to write and direct both "When Harry Met Sally" and "You've Got Mail." She was nominated for three Academy Awards for writing "Sleepless," "When Harry Met Sally," and her first film, "Silkwood."
Ephron was born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles in a family of writers. Both her parents were screenwriters, as are her sisters Delia and Amy. Her sister Hallie is a journalist and novelist. Ephron attended Wellesley College.

Nora Ephron is dead at 71.
The beloved screenwriter, who brought to life award-winning films including "Silkwood," "When Harry Met Sally...," "Sleepless in Seattle," "You've Got Mail" and, most recently "Julie & Julia," belonged to America's top tier of filmmakers, but her talents extended far beyond Hollywood. Ephron was also an accomplished essayist, novelist and reporter, not to mention the Editor-at-Large of The Huffington Post.
Raised in Beverly Hills, Ephron graduated from Wellesley College before beginning her career as a journalist at the New York Post. She then went on to write about the 1970s women's movement for Esquire.
"Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose not to be a lady," Ephron told Wellesley's Class of 1996 in a commencement speech. "I hope you will find some way to break the rules and make a little trouble out there. And I also hope that you will choose...

Stars: Jenny Seagrove, Dwier Brown, Carey Lowell, Brad Hall, MIguel Ferrer | Written by Stephen Volk, Dan Greenburg | Directed by William Friedkin
Nature can be beautiful and it can be evil. Druids worshipped it as a god, making sacrifices as offerings to it so they could be in its favour. Well that’s what we are told they did anyway; at least it makes for good horror stories. The Guardian uses the idea of the Druid sacrifices as a way for obtaining immortality; the way this is done is by sacrificing babies.
When Phil and Kate have a baby they find they need a nanny to look after it. When Camilla arrives for an interview for the position she appears to be the perfect woman for the job. Upon meeting the child she appears to have a bond straight away with him and is soon hired – once she manages...
