Sydney, May 13: Youths in Australia now give more importance to higher education than marriage, a new study has revealed.
According to the latest Australian Social Trends report, the Australian Bureau of Statistics has found that a smaller numbers of young adults are getting married between the ages of 18 and 34 in 2011 when compared to 1976, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
According to the Abs, the 1976 census showed 67 per cent of 24-year-olds were married, compared with 14 per cent in the 2011 census.
Jane Griffin-Warwicke, director of social and progress reporting for the Abs, said in the report that they have.
