[[tmz:video id="0_1qa1abki"]] Friendship only gets you so far in the NFL -- so says one of RG3's former Redskins teammates who says he won't hesitate to beat up on the Qb this season ... even though they're good friends. We got Washington Redskins defensive end Ricky Jean-Francois out in D.C. Monday -- and asked if it's gonna be weird to try to kill Robert Griffin when they play the Browns this season since the two are pretty tight off the field.

With Johnny Manziel officially out ... the Cleveland Browns are reportedly "moving forward" with plans to replace him with RG3. Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said the team had a "great meeting" with Robert Griffin over the weekend and hailed him as a "tremendous talent and a great young man." Now, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, the team is "moving forward on possibly signing [RG3] and that the team is doing its due diligence.

[[tmz:video id="0_j01um810"]] Heath Shuler says he feels Robert Griffin's pain -- telling TMZ Sports he knows what it's like to be the Qb of the future in Washington ... only to lose your job in the blink of an eye. Of course, Shuler was supposed to save the Redskins when he was selected 3rd overall in the 1994 NFL Draft -- but lost his job to Gus Frerotte after not exactly living up to the expectations. So, when...

We spoke with a handful of Redskins players -- all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity -- and they were all on the same page ... they've been wanting the move for a while. The 20-day shoot has wrapped on New Artists Alliance and XLrator Media’s psychological sci-fi starring Brandon Routh, Dane Cook and Caity Lotz from UK hit The Machine.
Ben Feldman, Tom Cavanagh and Grant Bowler also star in writer-director Matt Osterman’s story of astronauts on a simulated voyage to a distant planet designed to test psychological effects of deep space travel.
When the crew’s mental state begins to deteriorate they are forced to escape the vessel and learn they may not be in a simulation after all.
Rounding out the key cast are Fernanda Romero, Sally Pressman, Dominic Bogart and Frank Ashmore.
“Matt has penned a mind-bending screenplay that reminds us why we make movies to begin with,” said Naa partner Gabriel Cowan, who expects to announce an international sales agent shortly.

Love was definitely in the air for some sports studs this past weekend. NFL stars Matt Barkley and Robert Griffin III each tied the knot to their college sweethearts on Saturday, and tweeted about the events. "Wedding Day! Beyond blessed, thankful and excited to marry the girl of my dreams and my best friend. Praise the Lord!" Barkley, quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles wrote, while Washington Redskins quarterback Griffin said, "The easiest way to say It......Big Day!" Barkley married longtime girlfriend Brittany Langdon, a fellow athlete who played soccer for four years at Seattle Pacific and before that at Northwood High in Irvine. Meanwhile, Griffin made it official with his...

As all NFL fans know, there are many steal in the NFL draft every year. Some players fall through the cracks and become an impact player on their team immediately. However, some of them do not. For instance, Russell Wilson, Alfred Morris and Bobby Wagner all were non-first round picks last year, but outplayed almost all of the rookies at their positions. Even guys like Vontaze Burfict who was undrafted came in to the Bengals organization with a chip on his shoulder and became a star.
So without further adieu, let’s take a look at the top 5 sleepers who could surprise us all in the 2013 NFL Draft:
5. Qb Matt Scott Arizona
Matt Scott is an interesting prospect. He took over the Arizona offense after Nick Foles was draft by the Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft. He shows flashes of great arm strength with nice accuracy and touch. He is...

The 2013 NFL Draft is only a day away, and covers seven rounds in three days. With 32 teams picking players in seven rounds, there are the top consensus players, as well as the small school underdogs. While we can safely assume players such as Eric Fisher and Dion Jordan will be selected towards the beginning of the draft, what about some of the guys who are fringe prospects? How about Brandon Jenkins, who before his injury was considered a first round player? What about a player such as Kenny Stills, who could bring a team a valuable, chain-moving receiver?
Each year, we are informed by analysts and experts alike about the top players in any draft. Last year, you couldn’t escape any television station, newspaper or website without hearing the names of Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin. However, there were multiple notable players who were picked in the later rounds,...

Someone got away with a great deal, Thursday. A California company purchased the Trump Plaza, the centerpiece of Atlantic City's boardwalk, for the bargain-basement price of $20 million, the Associated Press reports. The price is the lowest ever paid for a casino in the city.
While a name for the resort has not been decided, the new owners, The Meruelo Group, have confirmed it will not retain the "Trump" title. The Trump Plaza has fallen greatly from it's former prominence, as most of founder Donald Trump's casinos have become money pits.
Trump Entertainment Resorts plans to use the $20 million from the sale, compared to the $210 million is cost to build the casino in the 1980s, toward paying down nearly $300 million in debt. The company only has one casino remaining, the Trump Taj Mahal. However, CEO Robert Griffin doesn't shy away from the possibility of selling it. "Blow me away with an offer,...

Well, the referees are back in full effect and the season is heading onto its second quarter. We have already seen some crazy upsets and some teams are playing better football than we expected, while others are playing much worse. So who are this week’s cream of the crop?
Last week, my fellow We Got This Covered writer, Lester Wiltfong had them ranked as follows:
1. Atlanta Falcons
2. Houston Texans
3. San Francisco 49ers
Let’s see if anyone has dropped out of that list, or maybe another team has found themselves moving into this week’s top three.
Here we go with my NFL cream of the crop heading into week five.
1. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are holding onto the top spot for the second week in a row. This past Sunday they came out on top in a close game against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers to take...

The San Diego Padres drafted a kind of random college quarterback, Toledo's Terrance Owens, with their final selection in the recent Mlb draft - even though Owens isn't a baseball player. Owens hasn't played the sport since his first year of high school, in fact.
He told the Padres thanks, but no thanks, but it got my mind spinning. Great American athletes are not flocking to the game of baseball like they have in the past. African Americans in particular are abandoning baseball at a young age in favor of basketball and football, and the number of blacks in baseball has plunged to post-integration lows.
But I've always fantasized (and I mean that entirely non-sexually) about how awesome it would have been to see Allen Iverson on a ball diamond (he was a hell of a high school Qb an Db on the gridiron), and I've always thought that if Michael Vick weren't left-handed,...

Last week I decided to commence the unenviable and mostly nonsensical task of comparing all 35 college football bowl games to various plot lines and aspects of the now defunct but always glorious not-so-hit NBC show Friday Night Lights.
If you missed my first week of comparisons -- and judging by the analytics, you probably did -- you can catch up by reading it here.
For everyone else, I'm back for another attempt at TV-to-sports metaphor glory, and will be breaking down this week's slate of bowl games in terms of Friday Night Lights plot lines below.
Wait, let's get a little mood music going first:
