FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode 10 – the series finale – is, hands down, the best episode of the entire series. Amid all the blood and deaths, questions are answered, and dues are stamped paid. Not every character deserves their fate, but every death is, in its own way, justified.
Sons of Anarchy was Hamlet with motorcycles. Mayans M.C. is also a Shakespearean tragedy, complete with betrayals, love, loyalty, and murder.
Season five episode 10, “Slow to Bleed Fair Son,” begins with confirmation that Felipe has died. His funeral is the opening scene, with Angel (Clayton Cardenas) holding Maverick and Ez (Jd Pardo) solemnly staring straight ahead as “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord” is sung.

FX’s “Mayans M.C.” is a tough, violent, and unflinching portrait of a Southern California motorcycle club fighting a bloody war to protect its territory. Yet it’s also a show filled with moments of subtlety and tenderness, in which the repercussions of violence for both the victim and the perpetrator are thoughtfully and powerfully considered. The balance between the harsh and the poignant that characterizes the show has been there from the beginning, but since Elgin James took over as sole showrunner in Season 3, the show has grown steadily deeper and more visceral, reaching its artistic peak in its fifth and final season, which ends July 19.
One of the key contributors to the evolution of the series’ tone and visual style is director of photography Vanessa Joy Smith, who was a camera operator on the first two seasons and then stepped into the role of cinematographer for the remainder of the show’s run.

FX Mayans M.C. season five episode nine – the series’ penultimate episode – serves up one of the most devastating deaths of its entire run…thus far. No one is safe as Ez continues to wage war with the Sons of Anarchy.
Episode nine, “I Must Go in Now For the Fog is Rising,” begins with Bottles (Alex Barone) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) silent as they ride back to town in the back of a stranger’s pickup truck. Witnessing the destruction of Santo Padre’s cookhouse at the Broken Saints ranch weighs heavy on their minds as they head back to the clubhouse.
Sofia (Andrea Cortés) wakes and leaves Ez (Jd Pardo) in bed with Sally when suddenly Sally barks in alarm. Ez grabs his gun, responding to pounding on his door.

Still haven’t recovered from FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven? Neither have I. But buckle up because episode eight – “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag” – doesn’t let up. The episode finds the Mayans saying goodbye to Creeper, Angel lost without Adelita, and Hope taking drastic measures to ensure Isaac can never hurt her or Letty again.
But, most importantly, the episode’s explosive ending might spell the end of Ez’s short reign over the prisons.
Episode eight opens with Downer (Angel Oquendo) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) transporting the dead bodies of Diaz and Jinx. Guero’s justifiably worried after killing Oakland’s president in cold blood, which forced Bishop to take out the VP. But Downer assures him the club knows why he did it. It wasn’t a smart move,...

“Mom wouldn’t want us to hurt each other. She would want us to be together,” an extremely nervous Angel tells Ez.

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode six begins with the Reyes brothers (separately) starting their days. Ez’s body is black and blue, and he dresses silently so as not to wake Sofia. Angel (Clayton Cardenas) emerges from trying to wash the weight of the world off of his shoulders in the shower and picks up his young son, telling Maverick it’s just the two of them as Adelita continues to sleep.
Angel makes toast for breakfast while holding Maverick. At the same time, Ez (Jd Pardo) gets into his truck and places a loaded gun on the passenger seat.

Series star Jd Pardo makes his directorial debut with FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode four, “I See the Black Light.”
Ez’s betting the Mayans M.C. Santo Padre’s future on taking over the Lobos New Generation’s drug business in the U.S., and he trades away the 12 crates of stolen guns for supplies to make more heroin. His men are frustrated and upset by the deal, and Ez reminds them that without the pipeline, the war will be lost no matter how many guns they have in their possession.
Hank (Frankie Loyal) informs Ez, Angel (Clayton Cardenas), and Bishop (Michael Irby) – the inner circle – that Creeper told him there’s a rat in the clubhouse. Someone in jail told Creeper, and Creeper believes it. So does Hank.

Co-creator Jon Steinberg and executive producer Warren Littlefield don’t much care if you like the characters that populate “The Old Man,” FX’s new espionage thriller premiering Thursday, June 16. Well, that’s not entirely fair. They want audiences to find them compelling and for viewers to invest in their textured lives and the increasingly interwoven web of high-stakes political games they’re playing. But above all, Steinberg and Littlefield want viewers to question each and every major player as “The Old Man” is hell bent on steering clear of traditional hero and villain archetypes.
The new drama, starring Jeff Bridges as the titular old man, revolves around Dan Chase, who absconded from the CIA decades ago and now lives off the grid. When an assassin arrives to eliminate Chase after all these quiet years, the older operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past.

The latest season of “Mayans M.C.” opens with 47 minutes of essentially non-stop action, as members of the title motorcycle club find their clubhouse under siege. In an episode that could accurately be called “Saving Private Mayan,” tensions begin at a boiling point and only get worse as the bikers of the Santo Padre charter are surrounded by rivals and forced to defend themselves against an unceasing barrage of bullets and Molotov cocktails. The violence is constant, brutal, and immersive in a way that rewards repeat viewings; revisiting the episode, it’s surprising how short some of the bursts of intensity are — like the shower scene in “Psycho,” they play longer and more graphic in our memory because the emotional immediacy and filmmaking craft are so exact.

In Abbott Elementary, Janine Teagues is one of three new teachers who didn’t quit in the first year at an underfunded public school in Philly, despite ceaseless challenges: Her textbooks are missing the three most recent presidents (she taped them in). There’s a smell in the walls. And one of her second-graders just peed on the rug. Reminiscent of Parks and Recreation, this enjoyable new sitcom employs a mockumentary style as a news crew films the school for a spot on urban education. Janine is like Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope, naively optimistic, slugging it out every day because, she declares, “I care about whether or not I can make a change.” (Credit: ABC/Prashant Gupta) As she lobbies for the money to replace her rug, she starts to give the jaded teachers — like her idol, Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph), gifted with the ability to make her students...

Based on true incidents, director Vivek Agnihotri's Tashkent Files, is a fictionalised film with cinematic liberties.
In form, it is a blend between a courtroom drama and an online game with different task levels. In purpose, while seeking answers to the mysterious death of India's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who died on January 11, 1966, in Tashkent, it implores you, as a citizen of the nation, to question for, "your right to truth".
The film has a kind of stark simplicity: Apart from a brief set-up and a briefer epilogue, a major portion of the film takes place within the four walls of an inquiry commission which is soaking to a jury room, as nine prominent and responsible citizens headed by politician Shyam Sundar Tripathi (Mithun Chakarobarty) debate on the "common conspiracy theory", that surrounds Shastri's demise.

Heading into Mayans M.C., which is something of a sequel/spin-off hybrid, the only question that really matters is whether or not we’re heading into something that actually delivers on the treatment and world-building of Sons of Anarchy. With several years, and The Bastard Executioner, between Kurt Sutter‘s somewhat questionable end to that show and now, a new run with a motorcycle club might go anywhere. Luckily, if the first two episodes are a true indication, Sutter has taken the time to reevaluate the structure, pacing, and plot development in his writing, which means the show kicks off almost as though it had been written at the same time as the third season of SoA, but with a little more experience showing through. Just as important, Sutter built off one of SoA‘s most important devices, having a ton of balls in the air at once. As...

It’s interesting to watch cable networks figure out who they are, especially when they aren’t networks that build their space with their name. Things like Syfy and ABC Family tell you where you are (though it doesn’t work as well for History or TLC – seriously, “Learning”), but a lot of other networks have to squirm around a bit to figure out what their skin really feels like. I’m sure that they have theories going in, but mostly they throw out a few shows, figure out which ones actually become popular, and then try to figure out more shows that “seem like they’d be on the same channel.” There’s a certain “radio station” mentality going on behind-the-scenes, because the people who run networks want people to be a fan of the network itself, not just a show or two.

It's too bad for FX that motorcycle drama "Sons of Anarchy" is signing off after this season: Its season premiere just set a record as the most-watched episode in the network's history.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the September 9 debut of the show's seventh and final season has pulled in a whopping 9.25 million viewers, with live-plus-three day viewing factored in. And with encore presentations also added to the calculations, as well as views on the FXNow streaming app, the episode has already notched 10.6 million views in less than a week.
And the jaw-dropping numbers don't stop there. THR writes that compared to the "Sons" series premiere back in 2008, which scored 2.82 million viewers, the audience for last week's episode had increased by 228 percent. Yes, you read that correctly: 228 percent. Yowza.

Yowza.

If you were wondering how well Sons of Anarchy would do on its return, FX has big news… the show killed. Which, is actually something that I guess I shouldn’t say, given the fact that the show’s controversial subject matter instantly sent social media into a circus.
If you’re a fan, it’s certainly good news.
What did you think of the episode? Too much? Overplayed? Insensitive? A lot of opinions are swarming around this one.

The sixth season of Sons of Anarchy is hitting tonight, and after the usual crazy twists that show up at the end of every season, you may wonder what yet another take on feints within feints has to offer. No, there aren’t really going to be any spoilers.
Now that we’ve put Clay in prison, an effective death sentence, we’re going to need to find out if Jax’ puppet master efforts are going to backfire. Besides, last season sent more things spinning out of control than ever, and the time to become President of the Mc couldn’t be worse.
Spoilers aside, the real question is how does the writing play out, do our new characters continue to engage, and can we really keep this many balls in the air in an engaging way that continues the show’s ability to keep you locked in? The answer,...

Sons of Anarchy Season 5 took things to a new level, and the series moved into a new realm of tortured confusion, and it was an unprecedented realm to begin with. The show, despite its unwavering popularity, has had its highs and lows, and it occasionally gets lost in its determined effort to bring home seasonal arc surprises. Nevertheless, it generally gets its feet back under it well, and the fifth season managed a few unbelievable moments that sent things in completely new directions.
Apart from losing big characters, adding Jimmy Smits in a large role, adding Donal Logue, coming up against new enemies, and throwing things with Clay into overdrive, the overall writing is vastly improved over previous seasons. It’s the kind of shift you don’t really expect from the fifth season of a show. Better and more relevant complexities don’t usually coincide with better writing, especially...

Sons of Anarchy is back tomorrow tonight to start it’s and we have a preview for you, albeit a small one, from FX in the form of some promo images for tomorrow’s episode, “Small World”. A perfect match is the succinct episode description of “Jax brings a new proposal to the club with serious consequences.” Admittedly, there’s not a whole lot to look at here but the pics feature Maggie Siff’s Tara, Sons of Anarchy Boss Kurt Sutter’s Otto, Kim Coates’ Tigi, and Mark Boone Junior’s Bobby.
Wait a minute, there is something here! Real life Samcro boss and creator returns to the other side of the camera as Otto for what I think is the first time in Sons of Anarchy’s 5th season!

I don’t think I have to tell Samcro fans that new Sons of Anarchy is rolling your way tomorrow on FX, so I’ll get right to the goods. We have the episode image gallery from FX/Fox, and I also threw in the tv teaser for tomorrow night’s “Orca Shrugged”, which comes with the brief summary of “The Club votes to be involved with Nero’s escort business”.
In case you missed it, the other day I put up a recent addition to the “Before the Anarchy” series going behind the scenes of Sons of Anarchy, this one taking a look at those looking to get fully patched, the Samcro prospects. I actually just got another one sent to us, and will put that one up soon after I get a chance to take a look at it!

We have some promo images for you from FX for Sons of Anarchy “Stolen Huffy”! As if Samcro fans need any other reason to tune it, it will be interesting to see what’s in store for Sons of Anarchy in the aftermath of last week’s big death. Highlighted in a couple of the images is a new face to Sons, that of Ashley Tisdale’s Emma Jean, one of which is part of a scene we have seen before when building up the season, with Emma riding with Jax. Speaking of new characters, we also get a couple of scenes featuring Jimmy Smits’ Nero Padilla.
edit: here is the TV teaser as well!
As is standard with Sons of Anarchy, the official episode summary for “Stolen Huffy” is slim, “Complications arise as the Sons band together to face a new adversary.”

Just a drive-by post with some teaser images from the Justified Season 3 finale that we have from FX/Fox. “Slaughterhouse” will air tomorrow night, but have no worries, Justified was re-upped for a fourth season last month, with a 13-episode order promised to the Raylan faithful. As usual with FX, we don’t get a lot in episode summary, but what we do have is:
After the murder of his friend, Raylan is a man on fire as he goes after any and everyone he holds responsible on the way to a bloody final showdown.

Our sister-site Criminal Complex has the word on FX’s Justified delivering a promo image gallery for next week’s episode, titled “The Devil You Know” (airs on February 7th — Tuesday for the uninitiated). Several of these images show some not too kind care delivered on to Jeremy Davies, who Lost fans know as Daniel Faraday. I’m not here yet on my Netflix yet so I’m not sure that the innocent genius from the Island did to catch this beatdown, but maybe that’s just how hard you have to be to get into an FX show these days. Of course, also pictured is the show’s lead, one Timothy Olyphant, who apparently is Deadwood’s Sheriff Bullock who found a time machine (I’m waiting for the show that chronicles that part of his on-going adventures).
Enjoy and stay tuned to both Boomtron and Criminal Complex for continued updates on Justified.

Justified Plays a little Harlan Roulette – Teasers
Our sister-site Criminal Complex has the word on Justified “Harlan Roulette”, next week’s episode of the FX favorite starring Timothy Olyphant, just in time after watching the latest episode last night. Justified has been inthe news lately even beyond what you tune in for, with Elmore Leonard – the writer whose work Justified is inspired by – penning a Justified novel that comes out this month, titled simply Raylan.
Seems innocent enough but the looming release had stirred up some controversy and response from the author himself, the details of which were also chronicled at the C-Deuce. Accompanying the promo images is also the episode synopsis for “Harlan Roulette” – enjoy!

“The Gunfighter” – Justified Season 3 Promo Images
When I hear there are the new promotional images for an upcoming episode of a great TV series, especially when those images are for a season premiere, my attention is piqued. Naturally I became excited when the latest batch of images for Justified season 3 was released via our sister site Criminal Complex. With the season’s January 17 premiere date drawing ever closer, one would expect to see images with a little more pizzazz to them, but instead we are treated to a fairly run of the mill scene featuring Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins having a tame conversation of sorts.
I suppose it isn’t that big of a deal the promo images aren’t as intense as I would have hoped, but it’s hard to let this go. I hear such great things about this series and these images don’t exactly...

Sons Of Anarchy Finale Part 1 Promo Images
Sons of Anarchy is getting down to its two part finale for its fourth season, titled “To Be”, and we have a preview of “Act 1″ for you via our sister site Criminal Complex. I’m not sure how the scenes or story got extended, but we are getting the second part (December 6th) due to that bonus Samcro episode we told you about earlier this month. Sons Of Anarchy Season 4 – Family Recipe Tease
Only a day in advance for our readers down with Sons of Anarchy, but via our new sister-site in crime, a joint we call Criminal Complex, we have a sneak peek at tomorrow night’s episode, titled “Family Recipe”. The word, all words, on Sons of Anarchy has been good this season, as the season 4 return was a huge success for the show and FX, and was followed up by a season 5 order last week. Usually we try to get these promos out there much earlier than the night before, but this was my first time seeing them available in the magic publicity folder. I hope you enjoy them and tomorrow night’s episode regardless!

Ally Walker is best known for her role as Dr. Samantha Waters on the NBC drama “Profiler,” but this season, she’s keeping fans on the edge of their seat with her portrayal of Agent June Stahl in the FX original series “Sons of Anarchy.”

Last week's episode of Justified left Boyd in a very sensitive position, and from the looks of these promo pics from next week's episode, "Blaze of Glory," Boyd is going to land in a very familiar hot-seat. How will this play out for Justified's anti-hero? The sub-plot is interesting in that it has seen Boyd make more a of transcendence than a transgression. Boyd was tempted to return to his evil ways, but instead of going back to the ruthless criminal that he was he has become a new kind of criminal. Will his descent continue towards the recesses of his dark past, or is this slip up a doorway into an odd form of legitimacy? It seems like - given Boyd's position in the pics below - that he might be being recruited by the Us Marshall's office. Interesting stuff.

What this prophetic line could not have foretold, however, was that the series would veer away from Raylan's struggle with his own inner Hulk to focus on the codes men adapt in order to cope with the sins of their fathers.
Raylan's repeated betrayals by his criminal deadbeat father Arlo (Raymond J. Barry) was mirrored in the last few episodes of the season by the growing war between Raylan's childhood reflection Boyd (Walton Goggins...

[Warning: The following story contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale of Justified.]
Few were left standing at the end of Justified's bloody first-season finale, but among the survivors was Walton Goggins' Boyd Crowder, a character who has escaped death twice this season.

In the finale, Boyd, who was originally intended to die in the pilot, survived a shootout between his friend/nemesis Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and two Miami drug-cartel assassins. Even though Raylan spent much of the second half of the season trying to put Boyd back in jail after he blew up a meth lab, he still lets Boyd give chase to an assassin instead of bringing him in...

On last night’s new episode of “Justified,” “The Lord Of War and Thunder”, we got a glimpse of Raylan’s specific daddy issues with his father Arlo, as the older Givens is in the middle of a scam that may (or may not be) spiraling out of control.
Raylan is in the middle of a case, staking out Wilson Toomey, a dangerous fugitive that seems to have hit a dead end, until he decides to impulsively go “undercover” as a day laborer who offers to mow the lawn at his house for free, hoping to catch a glimpse of the guy in the process. The man’s wife is suspicious, but she’s more desperate to get her raggedly grass in line.

FX's Justified is my favorite new show of the spring. And based on its premiere's big ratings, others obviously dig Raylan Givens' brand of gun-toting justice. A few reasons why the show (Tuesdays at 10/9c) is worth your time:
FX shoots to kill with Justified
1. Elmore Leonard Inspired It
Hollywood's love affair with the prolific Leonard has ranged from excellent adaptations (Get Shorty, Jackie Brown) to bad (TV's Karen Sisco and Shorty sequel Be Cool). Justified borrowed all the best Leonard elements (cool characters and muscular dialogue) for its pilot...
