LONDON -- Veteran British entertainment industry lawyer Michael Flint has been brought in as an independent adviser to oversee the application process for the U.K. Film Council's revamped development-funding procedures. Flint's arrival aims to send a signal to the industry that the decision-making process for the council's overhauled development funding strategy is as fair as possible, sources close to the council said Thursday. Flint recently retired as a partner at international law firm Denton Hall where, in a career spanning decades, he worked on a host of major media deals, including satellite agreements for British Sky Broadcasting. He is expected to lend his expertise in a consultancy capacity on the legal implications of the decision-making process. The council has received 28 applications for funding, all of which "have been a lot stronger than anticipated," sources close to the decision-making said.
