Some of our favorite TV characters are often unlucky in love. They just can’t seem to find The One — but what if The One is on another show altogether?
Being a part of Opa — Scandal’s Olivia Pope & Associates — means being a Gladiator. And Gladiator is a fancy word for a super cool workaholic who does top-secret super cool stuff. The realistic way in which emotional situations play out on Parenthood is one of the many reasons it's one of the best dramas on television.
And "All Aboard Who's Coming Aboard" featured more than its share of scenarios where slight shifts in character were perfectly written.
There are often themes running throughout the episodes, and while it didn't necessarily fit all of the stories to a T this week, it felt as if many Bravermans were exhibiting a change of heart. Let's talk about it.
Kristina and her run for mayor
Seeing another familiar face from Jason Katims' powerhouse series Friday Night Lights is always welcome, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell burned up the screen as Heather Hall, Kristina's self-appointed campaign manager. Her introductory scene was brilliant and the way she took control of the situation proved she was a perfect fit for the job.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell is trading in Bon Temps and vampires for some quality family drama on "Parenthood."
The actress, who has also appeared on "Friday Night Lights" and "Full House," will play Heather Hall, Kristina's (Monica Potter) new campaign manager. TVLine first reported the casting. Look for Smollett-Bell's character to recur.
Smollett-Bell is currently appearing in Season 6 of "True Blood" as Nicole on HBO. Her other TV credits include "The Defenders," "Do No Harm" and "Cosby." The actress appeared on "Parenthood" showrunner's "Friday Night Lights" as Jess Merriweather.
In one of her earliest roles, Smollett-Bell played Michelle Tanner's friend Denise Frazer on "Full House."
Smollett-Bell's character is just one of many new characters on "Parenthood" Season 5. "The Office" veteran David Denman will appear as Ed, "Drop Dead Diva" alum Josh Stamberg will play Carl and "Lost" actress Sonya Walger will play Meredith.

It's always nice to see some familiar faces from one beloved show pop up on another beloved show. Jason Katims is no stranger to bringing "Friday Nights Lights" alumni to his NBC drama "Parenthood," with Jurnee Smollett joining the fold for Season 5.
TV Line reports that Smollett will have a major recurring role for the upcoming full season, playing Heather Hall, a smart, up-and-coming political operative who is hired by Kristina Braverman to be her campaign manager.
Kristina running for political office is a major Season 5 storyline, in case you hadn't heard. We would imagine after beating cancer, the political arena will be a piece of cake.

Bob Brunner, a writer-producer on the classic ABC sitcom Happy Days who named Henry Winkler's "Fonzie" but also -- as legend has it -- suggested the character jump a shark in a now-infamous 1977 episode, has died. He was 78. Brunner, who teamed often with Happy Days creator Garry Marshall -- the two met in 1959 while working as copyboys for The New York Daily News -- died Oct. 28 of a heart attack near his home in Northridge, Calif., according to Heather Hall, a longtime Marshall staffer at his Henderson Production Company and the Falcon Theatre in Burbank. Like most guys of a certain era, Taylor Hanson and his brothers grew up watching — and compulsively re-watching — "The Blues Brothers," the 1980 cult classic featuring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as the titular brothers on a mission (from God) to save an orphanage. But unlike most guys of a certain era, they didn't just watch it for the copious car-chase sequences.
"We all watched that movie over and over again as kids. I think I've probably seen it 1,000 times by now," Hanson told MTV News on Friday (April 16). "And, what's great about it is, sure, you can sit around with a bunch of guys and watch it again and again because you want to see the car chases.
