After defending South London from aliens in Attack the Block, John Boyega traveled to a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the actor is now looking to come back to Earth’s defense in Pacific Rim 2.
Deadline reports that in Pacific Rim 2, Boyega is set to play the son of Stacker Pentecost, the character portrayed by Idris Elba in the original film. An influential officer in the fight against the Kaiju, Stacker died alongside Chuck Hansen (Robert Kazinsky) while co-piloting the Jaeger Striker Eureka in a fight to seal the Breach. In addition to playing the lead role, Boyega’s UpperRoom Productions will co-produce the sequel with Legendary.
Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Netflix’s Daredevil) will helm the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 film. Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) was recently brought on to work on the screenplay for Pacific Rim 2, with an earlier draft...

For the Horde!! Finally, after years and years of waiting and buzz and details, we have an official first look at one of the Orcs from the upcoming Warcraft movie based on the popular video game. Moon/SourceCode director Duncan Jones is directing the Warcraft movie, about the Orcs vs the Humans, following various Orc and Human characters. This time we get to meet Orgrim the Orc, played by actor Robert Kazinsky, who we just saw as Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim. Over at Wired, where the image is from, they explain: "Orgrim's likeness comes from the masterminds at Industrial Light and Magic, who took concept art from Blizzard Entertainment... and merged it with photographs and scans of Kazinsky to create the orc." Sweet. Here's the first two Warcraft shots, showing Orgrim the Orc as a character and from a scene in the movie: "We’ve gone beyond the point...

Big casting announcement for the Warcraft movie tonight. Variety is reporting that four more names are set for Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie in the works at Legendary. The big four are: Ben Foster (of 3:10 to Yuma, Pandorum, Rampart, Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Lone Survivor), Toby Kebbell (of RocknRolla, Prince of Persia, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Wrath of the Titans, The East), Rob Kazinsky (of "True Blood", Red Tails + Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim) in three lead roles, with Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia, Devil's Double, Captain America, Need for Speed) in negotiations for a part as well. All four of these guys are very talented actors on the rise and should make for a gritty, badass cast of humans. So who will they be playing? No one knows! Plot details for this Warcraft movie are still being kept a big secret, and we don't have have any casting or character breakdowns to go along with them.

I'll be the first to admit it...when I saw the trailer for Pacific Rim - at the cinema, nonetheless - I wept. Not physically, of course, but for the state of Hollywood and the cinematic art form.
Pacific Rim, as far as I could tell, looked like everything that was wrong with modern day Hollywood - a smorgasbord of CGI-sodden content that had little to no plot, story or general point of interest. Throw in the recognisable face or two, and I was resigned to hating it.
However, having just sat and gorged on all 134 minutes of [Guillermo] Del Toro's recent alien brawl fest, I've got to say...I was very, very wrong.
Plot...let's be having you
Our tale, however, is set predominantly in 2025. Five years have passed since the initial Kaiju emergence and, while the Jaeger defence system - a go-to attempt by coastal nations, such as the Us,...

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
Pacific Rim is without a doubt my favorite film of the summer. Indeed, I can’t think of a recent big summer movie I’ve loved anywhere near this much. The action, the visuals, and the sheer spectacle on display are second to none. Beyond that, though, I genuinely like the story and characters. While Travis Beacham and Guillermo del Toro’s screenplay isn’t going to be accused of being the most original thing in the world, the way everything is put together feels so fresh. I’m a big fan of how streamlined and straightforward the story is. Everything about the world is so vivid that it doesn’t need a convoluted, labyrinthine plot to hold up. It works because it delivers heroes doing everything in their power to save the world from monsters (Kaiju) hellbent on destroying it.

There isn’t much entertainment out there for ladies of the geek persuasion — or to be more accurate, geek ladies and geek gentlemen attracted to other gentlemen. Well, at least there isn’t much marketed directly to us. But we all know the dirty little secret of being a geek lady in a predominately geek man’s world — there are a lot of hot guys in sci-fi movies. Pacific Rim, which opened yesterday, is no exception. Some Spoilers Ahead!
Pacific Rim is in no way a perfect movie. It’s plagued with corny dialogue, underdeveloped characters, and a predictable, anticlimactic ending.

Director Guillermo del Toro is famous for making movies about terrible, wonderful creatures, but the monsters in his latest flick, "Pacific Rim," are quite literally out of this world.
Here, the fight for survival has never been bigger as the deadly monsters known as Kaiju rise out of the Pacific Ocean and do battle with the human-powered robots called Jaegers. The rest is just icing on the giant cake, as Earth bands together to defend itself from total annihilation.
But before you go racing off to the movie theater with your Jaeger or Kaiju mask in tow, here are 10 things you should know about the biggest robots vs. monsters flick of the summer.
1. You'll Wish Your Eyes Were Bigger.
Some new releases absolutely must be seen in the theater while others are fine to watch on demand. Unless you have some sort of professional-grade movie theater in your house, "Pacific Rim...

In Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi epic Pacific Rim, everything is big. The monsters. The soundstage. Even the Jaegers have to be operated by two people. But apparently, the epic feats of the cast and crew extended beyond the set, according to Robert Kazinsky, who plays Chuck Hansen in the film.
