Rap legend Tupac Shakur’s aunt Assata Shakur made history as the first woman to be listed on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist List.
In 2013, Assata Shakur, also known as Joanne Chesimard, was added to the Most Wanted list after almost 35 years on the run, reports mirror.co.uk.
Tupac’s aunt was found guilty of murdering a US police officer in 1977 but escaped from prison two years later.
In 1973, Assata was driving with fellow Black Liberation Army members Zayd Malik Shakur and Sundiata Acoli. Assata had joined the Black Liberation Army years prior and started using the name Assata in 1971.
The car was pulled over on the New Jersey Turnpike by two state troopers, James Harper and Werner Foerster. The car was “slightly” over the speed limit and had a broken tail light.

When a film has a name like Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell, it comes with certain expectations. Described as the Japanese Evil Dead, that is a lofty claim. So, can the crazy-titled film also live up to the name of Evil Dead?
When a bodybuilder, his ex-girlfriend and a professional psychic enter a haunted house, they soon find themselves trapped within it. With the spirit of a murdered woman obsessed with keeping the bodybuilder within the house, it seems that the ghost’s secret may be connected with the bodybuilder’s father. It may seem strange just calling the main character the “bodybuilder” but this is how simplistic the characters are. This isn’t a bad thing, as really these characters don’t have to be too deep. We are given a “grudge” style haunting, an...

The heroine of Goran Stolevski’s You Won’t Be Alone is a witch, with echoes of vampire and zombie, yes, but mostly with a haunting desire for human connection in 19th century rural Macedonia.
The film’s Sundance premiere got great reviews (see Deadline’s here). It’s 94 Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh with critics as Focus Features opens Stolevski’s debut feature on 147 carefully curated screens.
You Won’t Be Alone is subtitled and its narrator, the witch Nevena, grew up alone in a cave with a limited grasp of language.
Nevena (Sara Klimoska) is freed from her cave by a hideously deformed evil spirit called the Wolf-Eatress, or Old Maid Maria (Anamaria Marinca), who grows increasingly vengeful as they wander the mountainside and...

The Contractor opens with the voice of a preacher delivering a sermon as we watch U.S. Special Forces sergeant, James Harper go about his business, and spend time with his wife Brianne and son Jack.
However, things are about to take a turn for the worse when the regime of steroids he’s been using to rehab a combat injury blows a drug test and gets him discharged without his pension. Now with money running short and his options limited he sees only one way out, take a job as a mercenary with a security contractor despite his promise to Brianne not to.

Tarik Saleh's Paramount thriller "The Contractor" premieres this week, bringing the shady, clandestine world of military contractors to the screen. The film sees injured Special Forces vet James Harper (an excellent Chris Pine) forced into the shady world of military contractors after he's discharged without any of the perks or care he was previously guaranteed upon honorable discharge. Harper's first outing isn't exactly what he signed up for, triggering a series of escalating consequences in a timely, smart thriller.

Action thrillers, especially ones about military or ex-military special operations, are a dime a dozen. Post-9/11, these stories of brave men and women fighting in the name of patriotism and nationalism were everywhere. For every "Hurt Locker" there were half a dozen straight-to-vod releases capitalizing on American fears and dreams of exceptionalism. "The Contractor" falls somewhere between the two, featuring a few great performances and some refreshing course changes while unfortunately still feeling like a by-the-numbers special ops thriller.

James Harper (Chris Pine) knows that military life has two faces. He grew up with first-hand knowledge thanks to a gung-ho Ranger dad who forced him to spend his birthday money on an American flag tattoo that matched his own despite not yet being a teenager. Was James’ father a hero? Maybe. Was he also a monster? Sure. The truth lies somewhere in the middle because the military cannot turn you into the former without first ensuring that you can become the latter. No matter how hard James tried to run from that duality, he inevitably had to also embrace it to survive. So, he killed for his country. He followed orders and destroyed his body to do it. And he made certain his eyes were open throughout.

The “Bourne” movies revivified the espionage genre with their nimble, scrappy, down-and-dirty action. But they weren’t as widely imitated as one might have expected, which leaves “The Contractor” feeling like a relatively fresh chip off a not-so-old block. Chris Pine stars as a forcibly decommissioned U.S. Army careerist whom financial straits push him into a sketchy private militaristic security job. Needless to say, that goes south in a hurry.
Swede Tarik Saleh’s first American feature is more impersonally commercial than prior projects (including 2017 Sundance jury prize winner “The Nile Hilton Incident”), and more efficient than memorable as a medium-scaled adventure exercise. Still, being a solid cut above average is good enough, given so much formulaic mediocrity among thrillers cluttering the streaming market. Already released in several territories during March, the film is scheduled for launch to U.S. theaters, digital and on demand platforms April 1.

The studio previously nabbed international rights to the movie and will now distribute in the U.S. as well.
Directed by Tarik Saleh, “Violence of Action” centers on James Harper (Pine), a man who joins a paramilitary organization to support his family after he gets involuntarily discharged from the Marines. Def Jam Recordings will issue the soundtrack for “The Hate U Give” on Oct. 12, featuring new songs by the rising stars Arlissa and Bobby Sessions (pictured above). The 20th Century-Fox film – which takes its title from Tupac Shakur’s acronym Thug Life, and deals with highly charged racial issues – opens a week later, on Oct. 19.
“It’s a natural fit for what we do as a company, and the culture of our company,” Rich Isaacson, exec VP of the label, tells Variety. “The movie is about race, about people who are victims of oppression who are just trying to live their lives. So many of our artists speak to these issues, from the beginning of Def Jam to today.”
The film, and the album, features hip-hop and R&B tracks from Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, Logic, Jadakiss and others. Arlissa’s “We Won’t Move” and Sessions’ “The Hate U Give,...
