Gord Downie’s first solo album, Coke Machine Glow, will be reissued on August 27th via Arts & Crafts to mark its 20th anniversary, and it’s available for preorder. The original album dropped in 2001, in between the Tragically Hip’s 2000 record Music @ Work and 2002’s In Violet Light.
Titled Coke Machine Glow: Songwriters’ Cabal, the triple album includes the original two-disc set alongside 12 unreleased demos, alternate versions, and outtakes. The songs were selected by the late singer’s friend Josh Finlayson, his brother Patrick Downie and Arts & Crafts’ Jonathan Shedletzky.

Barenaked Ladies are joining the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Pearl Jam and Motorhead with their own brand of booze entitled "Strong Beer."
The Toronto Star reports the band has joined forces with The Flying Monkeys, craft brewers from Barrie, Ontario, to created the "chocolate-flavoured, strong imperial stout." According to a press release on the band's site, the beer's release will coincide with their "Symphony Barenaked" cross-Canada tour which starts in Vancouver Nov. 30.
Flying Monkeys boss Peter Chiodo -- who said the band were "totally involved in the birth of this beer" -- told the publication he came up with the idea after drinking some of the Pearl Jam beer called Faithfull Ale.
"I thought it would be a lot cooler if there was something where the band actually came into the brewery and helped make it," he said. "It would have more meaning that way."

Simple Plan support their brand new song "Save You" with a just-debuted music video. Starting with the band's in-studio performance, the music video continues with a capture of Jay Bouvier, the band's vocalist Pierre Bouvier's brother, and guitarist Jeff Stinco's mother Francine Bergeron-Stinco lying on the floor in a dimmed room alongside the other cancer survivors.
With a scene showing the people get off the floor one by one, Pierre screams verses, "If you fall/Stumble down/I'll pick you up off the ground." At the end of the video, the people, making cameo appearances, are revealed. Some of them are Kevin Hearn, Sharon Osbourne, and Marissa Jaret Winokur.
"Save You" is the third single off the band's self-titled album and penned in tribute to Jay, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer at the age of 28. Produced by Dave Portman, Danja, and Max Martin, the band's latest...

Barenaked Ladies' engaging blend of music and comedy is coming to television. Fox Broadcasting Co. has ordered a pilot presentation for a comedy/variety show starring the members of the popular Canadian pop group, known for its playful music style of tongue-in-cheek humor, pop culture lyrics and upbeat tempos. The project, tentatively titled The Barenaked Ladies Variety Show, is set to expand upon the comedy sketches that have become a staple of Barenaked Ladies' concerts along with the quintet's humorous stage banter and improv bits with the audience. The five band members -- Steven Page, Kevin Hearn, Tyler Stewart, Jim Creeggan and Ed Robertson -- will star in the skits as exaggerated versions of themselves, joined by guest actors. The show, in which all elements will be connected by a story line running through each episode, also will include musical performances by the group as well as musical guests.
