This story about director Peter Hoar and “The Last of Us” first ran in the Drama Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
For pure emotional punch this past TV season, one need look no further than “Long, Long Time,” the third episode of HBO’s “The Last of Us.” Detouring from the main journey of a lone man and the fungus-resistant young woman under his care (Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey) navigating zombie-strewn roads, the series settled down for a decades-spanning romance between two older men, Bill and Frank (played unforgettably by Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett), that resonated with its universality and refusal to reduce the duo to dreary stereotypes. If your heart didn’t break watching these men make peace with their life decisions through the unsteady ages, you simply do not and never did have one beating in your chest.

“The Last of Us” could have just been the story of two people moving through a fundamentally changed world. Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are the main figures in both the original game series and this TV adaptation from co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. But the backbone of both versions are those individuals who that pair of travelers meet along their treacherous journey. The “Last of Us” guest stars come in all forms across nine episodes, from family members thought lost to predatory zealots to strangers finding their own best chances to stay alive.
For the people behind some of those characters, those roles were more than just a job. Lamar Johnson took the audience through the world of Harry, a conflicted resident of what’s left of Kansas City, someone just trying to provide for his little brother Sam (Keivonn Woodard). HBO’s The Last of Us is taking the streaming world by storm. The series is based on a video game of the same name. Nick Offerman as Bill in ‘The Last of Us’ | Liane Hentscher/HBO ‘The Last of Us’ features intriguing opening scenes
The first two episodes of The Last of Us feature opening scenes that are quite removed from Joel and Ellie, the show’s main characters. The series premiere opens with two epidemiologists appearing on a talk show (à la Dick Cavett) in 1968. One of the scientists gives a chilling warning — that fungi rather than viruses or bacteria could destroy mankind.
The episode 2 opening explores the origin of the cordyceps infection.

HBO’s The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic drama, full of danger and emotion. However, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of time for levity while on set. The show’s cast recently shared details about the “contagious giggle situation” they had to deal with while shooting the series.

HBO‘s The Last of Us Episode 3 has likely become one of the series’ most popular episodes so far. The episode focuses almost entirely on the story of the video game characters, Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett). Unlike the video game, the creators of the series took some creative license to fully explore a different story amid the pandemic. The characters’ ending story is heartbreaking, as The Last of Us Episode 3 has Frank diagnosed with a well-known illness.

“The Last of Us” introduced another fan-favourite character from the video game series in Sunday’s all-new episode, only for them to meet their end in a tragic way — and surprise fans by veering off course from the game’s canonical story.
In the first “Last of Us” video game, over the course of their journey, Joel and Ellie meet up with Bill, a survivalist who gives them grief when they ask to borrow his car. They also find a letter from his late partner, Frank, and the implication that the pair were in a relationship prior to Frank’s death by suicide after he was infected.

HBO‘s The Last of Us is based on the popular video game and has done a good job of keeping to the source material. The main star of the series is Ellie Williams (Bella Ramsey), a teen born in the Boston Qt who might be the answer to saving the last of humanity. The critically acclaimed video game The Last of Us, written and co-directed by Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, introduced a post-apocalyptic, heart-shattering epic firmly rooted in a broad spectrum of moral grey. It centered around an unlikely pair that unwittingly forged a profound connection amidst their grim reality, balancing hope with darkness. Something that Chernobyl series creator Craig Mazin seemed uniquely well suited to adapt. Mazin and Druckmann more than succeed with their adaptation; HBO’s “The Last of Us” is a stunning triumph.
The series introduces Joel (Pedro Pascal) in 2003 as a contractor working with his brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and raising teen daughter Sarah (Nico Parker) on his own. The introduction to their everyday existence coincides with a bizarre Cordyceps mutation that cataclysmically destroys modern civilization and plunges the world into a bleak dystopia.

Joel and Ellie will soon make their live-action debut as part of HBO’s TV adaptation of Naughty Dog Studios’ critically acclaimed video game “The Last of Us,” but the road to getting this adaptation off the ground was a challenging one — and it started with a scuttled attempt to turn the post-apocalyptic game into a movie.
The series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

On Monday Fox unveiled their primetime slate for the 2013-2014 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The network announced 5 new comedies, 4 new dramas, a first event series, and an animated comedy from Seth MacFarlane.
Some of today’s most inventive directors working in film have smoothly segued from motion pictures to series TV and their new shows have found a home at Fox. What caught my attention were the sci-fi, fantasy shows bearing the names of Abrams, Shyamalan, Kurtzman and Orci.
Among the network’s lineup is M. Night Shyamalan’s new event series Wayward Pines. Set to premiere in 2014 and based on the best-selling novel, “Pines,” by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines is an intense, mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems. Also on the Fox schedule is the...

The time has come to say goodbye and Fringe fans across the globe are preparing for a teary-eyed finale. It won’t matter if it is a happy ending or a sad ending for our heroes, it will be just hard to say farewell to characters that become like family. Will Friday nights ever be the same again without Walter, Peter, Olivia, Astrid and Broyles? Will it be enough to know that somewhere out there a “fringe” division exists and they are working diligently to save the universe or multiple universes from mad scientists, wormholes, dark matter, converging timelines and much, much more?
When it came time for the cast and producers of Fringe to say goodbye to the fans at last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, there was not a dry eye in the room. Even the normally impervious press were not untouched by the extreme emotion displayed that day.

Supernatural Season 8, Episode 7: “A Little Slice of Kevin”
It’s been a long time coming, but Castiel is finally returning to Supernatural – and not in a flashback either. Check out these 16 stills from “A Little Slice of Kevin.” Castiel is back on a reunion hunt with the Winchesters. It’s about time we had some answers. What really happened to Castiel in Purgatory and why did Dean leave him behind? Also, how the heck did he escape those darned leviathans and – uhm – Purgatory?!

I know Supernatural fan are gearing up for the next episode, a little Winchester Brothers on Halloween event, but Boomtron is taking you into the Supernatural near future with these promo pics from ”A Little Slice of Kevin“. The most obvious topic to talk about upon checking out this gallery is that Misha Collins’ Castiel is back in the house, and not only that, we see Amanda Tapping in the role we told you about before, as Naomi, an angel.
Speaking of the next episode of Supernatural – titled blood Brother - we have the TV teaser and episode gallery for you.
Supernatural ”A Little Slice of Kevin” (8.07) airs on the CW on November 14th, check out the episode summary:
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when Castiel (Misha Collins) suddenly appears back on Earth with no memory of how he escaped from Purgatory. Meanwhile, Mrs. Tran (guest...

A couple of weeks ago we pointed you to a glimpse of the Fringe season 5 premiere and now we have a the full gallery of promo images, including that initial look, for ”Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11″ from Fox. Back are more looks at amber, but also once again prominent with Walter, Astrid, and Peter is Georgina Haig’s Etta Bishop. Once again, however, we lack Anna Torv, the absence of whom can never be considered an optimal condition, though that sounds about right because the team is searching for Olivia in this episode.
Fringe season 5, the final season of the show, debuts on Fox later this month on September 28th.

The Fringe Season 4 Finale delivered goods that we have been waiting for all season long. This series is known for it’s phenomenal finales, so fans were hoping for the treat of the season. As it turns out, the finale tied things up quite smoothly (while still leaving a few bumps) had this indeed been a series finale. More on that in a bit. The title, “Brave New World” could not have been more fitting and the writers have left us with plenty to ponder until the fifth and final season begins. The glyph this week was “purge” so we know that the observers are indeed coming. Had we not seen so much of the future and the observers’ role in said future, perhaps this finale would have been more mind blowing. Still, the writers did a good job doing what they did, unsure of the show’s fate.

The introductions to Fringe are always one of the best parts of each episode and this week’s introduction was no exception. It was undoubetdly one of the most engaging of the season, as a man came walking out of a cafe and collapsed before his death just as others around him were finding the same fate. But this wasn’t your typical case of the week scenario. David Robert Jones was behind it all. With the season finale airing next week, can’t say we’re surprised. But there were still plenty of jaw dropping moments intertwined, making this one of the best episodes of the season.
We were treated to Lost alum, Rebecca Mader as a guest star this week, playing Jessica Holt, one of the victims who came in contact with what resulted in spontaneous human combustion. Kudos to the random woman who said, “Don’t move.
