- Catherine Hessling was born on June 22, 1900 in Moronvilliers, Marne, France. She was an actress, known for Nana (1926), Little Red Riding Hood (1930) and Whirlpool of Fate (1925). She was married to Jean Renoir. She died on September 28, 1979 in La-Celle-Saint-Cloud, Yvelines, France.

- Attractive brunette with bee-stung lips, who started as a model for the painter Auguste Renoir (1917-19) in Provence. Married his son Jean in 1920 and acted in some of his films, and in several others directed by Alberto Cavalcanti. Her acting style was not unlike that of Charles Chaplin and she became known as the 'female Charlot'. After her separation from Renoir in 1930, she turned to dancing and made only a few more films before retiring from the screen altogether.
