Toho International, the U.S. subsidiary of Japan’s leading film studio Toho Co., has agreed to buy stakes in three animated productions owned by Frederator Network, part of Genius Brands International’s Wow! Unlimited Media.
The deal gives Toho International 50 ownership of two completed series – “Bee and PuppyCat,” and “Bravest Warriors” – and a similar stake in the “Catbug” series that is currently in development as a spin off from “Bravest Warriors.” Deal terms were not disclosed, though Genius Brands described it as “a multimillion-dollar investment.”
The agreement provides a framework for Frederator Network and Toho International to co-produce new content for the properties and to cooperatively develop a global consumer products campaign.
Genius Brands will oversee global distribution and consumer products development for the properties, excluding Asia, which will be handled by Toho International. A dedicated online store for “Bee and PuppyCat” was launched in September 2022, to coincide with the series’ release on Netflix.

On May 19, Marvel announced a 20-year deal with Stan Lee Universe, a venture between Genius Brands International and Pow! Entertainment, to license the name and likeness of the late Marvel Comics editor-in-chief for use in future feature films and television productions, as well as Disney theme parks, “experiences,” and merchandise under a “broad deal” with his estate.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to star in a new animated series coming from Pow! Entertainment and Genius Brands International called Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten. This is one of the final projects that Lee created and worked on before he passed away.
Schwarzenegger will play Arnold Armstrong, “who was an average gym teacher before he was imbued with superpowers when the earth passed through the ionic dust left in the wake of a mysterious comet. He becomes Captain Courage, one of Earth’s greatest protectors. However, after a battle with his arch nemesis, Dr. Superior, he expended all of his powers in defeating his foe, and forced to end his career as Captain Courage — until a massive explosion of super-energy particles came raining down and rumors of super-powered children began surfacing. Now, he serves as a kindergarten teacher who secretly trains the new generation of young superheros.”

"The Governator" is reportedly the latest victim of Arnold Schwarzenegger's marital woe. Contrary to previous report that the former California governor's infidelity scandal would not affect the TV series, a rep for the project has just said that "Governator" is now on hold.

It is not clear whether the project is completely dead or is just postponed until the buzz regarding Schwarzenegger's personal issues is over.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's planned 'Governator' superhero series about the actor's "double life," takes on a whole new meaning in light of the revelations of his having fathered a child with his housekeeper.
It's hard to read the press release for the cartoon now without cringing: "[He] creates a secret identity beneath his home -- so secret that even his wife, Maria, and kids are unaware. [He's] a superhero living a double life, who's also a devoted family man who needs to make it home for dinner every night."
Andy Heyward, CEO of A2, which is launching the series and related tie-ins, says no changes will be made to the series, despite his split from wife Maria Shriver. "A2's 'Governator' animated series and its lore is fictional and stands on its merits," Heyward told The Hollywood Reporter. "Of course we wish the family the best in this challenging time.

After finishing his term as California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking forward to returning to acting, already choosing "Cry Macho" as his next feature film. But how will the news that he fathered a child with his family's housekeeper affect the project? "It doesn't affect this movie," said producer Albert Ruddy. "We're shooting August 24th; we're in serious pre-production now. It hasn't affected our sales. This is just another one of those things no one will remember." With a background as an action movie star and governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has become involved with Stan Lee for “The Governator.” But will the superhero governor sink or swim?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is very much afloat. An article chronicling the business propositions of Schwarzenegger's comic book, animated series and impending live-action property brings news about the cartoon getting picked up internationally.
After a short trailer was played at Miptv in Cannes, broadcasters from France, Spain, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom reportedly lined up for the property. U.S. rights have not yet been sold.
Andy Heyward, who was behind the cartoons “Inspector Gadget” and “Rainbow Brite,” will be the producer. “I've been coming to Mip TV for 25 years, I've made 5,000 half-hours of television and I've never had a reaction to a series like this,” he said.
In "The Governator," Schwarzenegger lends his voice to a highly stylized version of himself.

Jokes abound about Arnold Schwarzenegger being a living cartoon. God knows I've made enough of them. But now, the ex-Governor of Cali and sometime action star is really, truly a cartoon — literally.
Schwarzenegger has teamed with living legend Stan Lee and producer Andy Heyward to create a 52-episode animated series and comic book called, what else, The Governator. The Ahnold will voice a character, based on himself, who is a former politician/movie star/bodybuilder turned superhero crime fighter with a secret lair, lots of gadgets and what looks to be a team of young interns aiding his efforts to quell crime. It should come as no surprise that a 3D feature film is in the works as well.
You cannot be blamed for scoffing at this. In fact, you're not alone. Because it came to light on April 1, many thought The Governator was an April Fool's prank, but it's not.

The Governator will follow an animated Arnold after leaving the Governor’s office into his new career of crime fighter.
According to Stan Lee,
“the Governator will run operations out of a secret high-tech crime-fighting center (aka Arnold Cave) under his house in Brentwood and will have a fleet of super vehicles and a closet full of “Super Suits” at his disposal. He will be surrounded by a gallery of sidekicks, including a 13-year-old computer whiz, and supervillains, including G.I.R.L.I.E Men, named after another Arnold-ism.”
Arnold won’t be the only one animated. His wife and family will be in the comic and series as well.

Since completing his term as the governor of California in January, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been hinting at a Hollywood comeback for months. The 63-year-old former action hero said he has at least 15 movie offers on his plate at the moment, including a fifth Terminator movie, a WWII drama titled With Wings as Eagles, and a probable return to The Expendables with his friends and former “Planet Hollywood” business partners Bruce Willis Sylvester Stallone.
But, earlier this month, Schwarzenegger scheduled a press conference to unveil his next project and, naturally, speculation ran rampant, including a pipe dream about True Lies 2 with the Avatar-embedded James Cameron.
The wait is over. Entertainment Weekly unveiled Schwarzenegger’s new career development: an animated television series about a superhero called “The Governator” voiced by Arnold himself. The title borrows from a term coined by the media during his political campaign in 2003, which he adopted at...

Arnold Schwarzenegger's reps declined to comment last week for our story that the former California Governor may be doing an animated series with producer Andy Heyward based on a superhero character created in partnership with comic book icon Stan Lee. Well, that's probably because they were in the process of booking the cover of Entertainment Weekly to unveil the new character. Called The Governator, it is a version of Schwarzenegger after he has left the Governor's office and becomes a crime fighter, Lee told EW. The Governator will run operations out of a secret high-tech crime-fighting center (aka Arnold Cave) under his house in Brentwood and will have a fleet of super vehicles and a closet full of “Super Suits” at his disposal. He will be surrounded by a gallery of sidekicks, including a 13-year-old computer whiz, and supervillains, including G.I.R.L.I.E Men, named after another Arnold-ism.
