Amber Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez, told a court Thursday that she begged her not to marry Johnny Depp because of his alleged violence toward Heard. Henriquez was giving evidence on the 13th day of Depp’s libel action against the publisher of The Sun newspaper.
Depp is suing News Group Newspapers and journalist Dan Wootton for an article on The Sun website that described him as a “wife beater.” Depp denies that he was ever violent toward Heard, to whom he was married from 2015 to 2017.
Early in the relationship, Henriquez noticed bruising and swelling on her sister’s face and body.
“I saw that her face was swollen and she had a mark under her eye,” she said. “I had my suspicions before, but it was clear to me that she had been hit.”
Henriquez confronted her about it. “I said: ‘What the f— is happening? You have to talk to me.

(Press Association) Johnny Depp is a “remarkable man” when he is “clean and sober” but the “other side of him was a monster,” Amber Heard has told the High Court.
In her fourth day in the witness box in her ex-husband’s libel case against The Sun newspaper, the Aquaman actress said she had been “so in love” with Depp and had “always held out hope” that he would get clean.
The court has heard that in a series of text messages to her mother Paige in March 2013, Heard, 34, described Depp, 57, as “violent and crazy” and said: “I’m heartbroken that this is who I love.”
Depp is suing the tabloid’s publisher, News Group Newspapers, and its executive editor Dan Wootton over an April 2018 article which labelled him a “wife beater”.

The 57-year-old actor is suing the tabloid’s publisher News Group Newspapers (Ngn) over an article which called him a “wife beater” and referred to “overwhelming evidence” he attacked Amber Heard, 34, during their relationship, which he strenuously denies.
Depp was wearing a face covering and sunglasses as walked into the main entrance of the Royal Courts of Justice in central London. More than 30 photographers were waiting at the entrance as the Hollywood star arrived at 9.55Am. Depp was called as the first witness in the trial.
His former wife, Amber Heard, has also arrived for the start of the three-week trial. Wearing a red face covering, she walked into court holding hands with two women.

Johnny Depp’s libel battle with British tabloid newspaper The Sun will go ahead next week after a High Court judge ruled in his favor, despite the Pirates Of The Caribbean star failing to disclose a series of explosive texts related to the case.
Depp is suing Dan Wootton, the executive editor of The Sun, and the Rupert Murdoch-owned British tabloid’s publisher, News Group Newspapers, for defamation over an article in April 2018 that referred to him as a “wife-beater” following allegations made by his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp strenuously denies Heard’s claims.
His case was thrown into peril on Monday, however, when judge Mr Justice Nicol ruled that he should have disclosed a series of text messages showing him apparently trying to obtain drugs while in Australia with Heard in March 2015. The exchanges between Depp and his assistant, Nathan Holmes, took place shortly before Heard claimed she...

In case you didn’t know, Johnny Depp sued The Sun after editors of the magazine called him a ‘wife-beater’ in articles pertaining to his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. When the Fantastic Beasts actor first accused The Sun of libel, things were looking pretty good for him. However, now that some old text messages have resurfaced, the tables have turned.
The texts were sent by Depp to his assistant, Nathan Holmes, in 2015. In them, the actor asks for a number of drugs. In and of itself, these texts are scandalous and lawbreaking enough as is. However, they’re of particular importance to the Heard case, as they were sent shortly before the actor’s ex-wife claimed to have endured a “three-day ordeal of physical assaults.”
The judge assigned to the case, Justice Nicholl, did not receive the texts kindly. In a statement, he expressed his opinion that Depp...

A British court has ruled that Johnny Depp is in breach of a court order for failing to disclose texts that allegedly show him trying to get hold of drugs.
The ruling by Judge Andrew Nicol Monday was made as part of the actor’s libel action against Rupert Murdoch’s The Sun newspaper, to be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice in London next month. The case relates to an article describing Depp as a “wife beater,” referring to allegations made by his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, that he was violent toward her, a claim he denies.
On Thursday, the tabloid’s legal team asked the judge to drop the case. Their attorney, Adam Wolanski, said Depp was in breach of a court order because he had not handed over what Wolanski called “Australian drug texts,” sent between Depp and his assistant, Nathan Holmes.

Johnny Depp — “alternately hilarious, sly and incoherent” in a major new Rolling Stone profile focusing on the actor’s legal and financial woes — has, according to the article, made $650 million on films that netted $3.6 billion. “Almost all of it,” says the magazine, “is gone.”
The piece, titled “The Trouble With Johnny Depp” and written by Stephen Rodrick, details Depp’s lawsuits against The Management Group, run by Depp’s longtime business manager Joel Mandel and his brother Robert, for negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud. “The suit cites, among other things, that under Tmg’s watch Depp’s sister Christi was given $7 million and his assistant, Nathan Holmes, $750,000, without his knowledge, and that he has paid the IRS more than $5.6 million in late fees.” The suit seeks more than $25 million from Tmg, accounting for tens of millions it claims Tmg illegally took for its commission, plus any additional damages the court sees fit.

Johnny Depp isn't here yet. Still, his presence is all around the 10,500-square-foot rented mansion at 16 Bishopswood Road in London's Highgate neighborhood.
He is here in the busy hands of Russell, his personal chef working up the Peking duck. He is here in the stogie-size joint left by the sink in the guest bathroom. He is here in the never-ending reservoir of wine that is poured into goblets. And he is here in a half-done painting upstairs that features a burning black house, a child...
