Taylor Swift's new album "1989" set a few new records, as Billboard reports the effort sold 1.287 million copies in the United States. That's actually 22% of all the album sold total this week. That's obviously more than enough for No. 1 on the latest Billboard 200 chart, but is also the first album to sell that big since "The Eminem Show" in 2002, when that set sold 1.322 million. Swift scored a million sales in a week with her two last sets: "Red" sold 1. 208 million in 2012 and "Speak Now" moved 1.047 in 2010. She was the first female artist to have sold a million in a week for two albums, and now clearly she's the first to have released three albums under the same feat. And, since SoundScan started tracking sales data in 1991, only 19 albums altogether have moved more than one million copies in one week; she's three of those 19. Coldplay had the previous high-water sales mark...

We would “Leave the Night On” on for Sam Hunt. You will too!
Forget Florida Georgia Line (and their number 1 album). Forget Keith Urban (and all those racy music videos he’s making). Your new favorite country star is Sam Hunt. And if he’s not already, he will be by the end of this post.
Actually, he might just be everyone’s new favorite musician – whether you like country music or not. "I am from the country, and I grew up mostly influenced by country music," Sam told Rolling Stone. "So by the definition I have, these are country songs, not pop songs. Even though there may be a pop element."

Sam Hunt is not your typical country star. At 6'4", this former University of Alabama at Birmingham quarterback and free agent for the Kansas City Chiefs, is changing country music completely. If you don't recognize Sam Hunt, you probably recognize the songs he's written: Kenny Chesney's "Come Over," Billy Currington's "We Are Tonight" and Keith Urban's "Cop Car." Sam's single, "Leave The Night On" surpassed 500,000 track sales making it Hunt's first certified Gold record as an artist. His debut album, Montevallo, drops today. With what seems like a quick rise to fame, there's still so much more to know about Sam. You might think Sam had always...

Lady Antebellum just released their new album "747" and have a song on the soundtrack to "The Best of Me." There's a lot of noise out there, so their newest single "Freestyle" could use a leg up, too. So, Channing Tatum, what say you? In our interview this month -- ahead of tomorrow's release of the Nicholas Sparks romance adaptation "The Best of Me" -- multi-Grammy Award-winning Lady A was brainstorming some talent hey could bring into their music video world. Tony Hale and Kate Upton co-starred in the trio's smash country hit "Bartender" this summer, for instance. Coming up with the tune for this week's Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden-starring feature didn't come totally out of left field. The group "didn't have any of the visuals," said Dave Haywood, when they were approached to write a song for the movie earlier this year. But he, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley...

When Billy Currington first moved to Nashville in the early '90s, the underage singer from southeast Georgia snuck into a songwriter's night at Douglas Corner Cafe. "After the show I introduced myself to one of the writers, Marc Beeson," Currington recalled Wednesday at a Nashville party to celebrate his ninth career No. 1, "We Are Tonight." "I loved what he was singing and I told him that one day, if things worked out for me, I would love to cut one of his songs. Marc, I'm sorry it took so long but I'm glad it happened for us both!" So is Beeson,...
