Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are teaming up with their oldest son Michael for an upcoming “Ripped from the Headlines” Lifetime movie.
Michael will star alongside Jenna Dewan in the film, titled “Let’s Get Physical.” It follows Dewan as a fitness instructor named Sadie who taught fitness and dance to soccer moms by day, but by night led a double life running a sophisticated prostitution ring with a customer list that included very prominent men in the community. After an anonymous tip, authorities raided her studio, leading to Sadie’s indictment and ignited a firestorm in the small town leading everyone to ask, who exactly was on the client list.
Jennifer Irwin also stars. Ripa and Consuelos will executive produce under their Milojo Productions banner as part of the previously announced partnership with Lifetime. Dewan will also executive produce.
This is, of course, not the first time Michael has worked with his parents.

The awards, which celebrated their 10th anniversary, also marked the end of an era as Apdg president and founder George Liddle announced he was stepping down after more than a decade at the helm.
Speaking at the virtual event, he said the future looked positive for the guild.

"I know he isn't what you expected... give it time, relationships can be tricky though." Quiver Distribution has released the first trailer for an indie comedy titled The Exchange, set in the 80s in Quebec. This hasn't premiered at any fests, but is opening this July anyway. A socially awkward boy convinces his family to take an exchange student but it doesn't turn out as planned. Hoping to find friendship with this "mail-order best friend" from France, he discovers that the student, named Stéphane, is not as sophisticated and cultured as he assumed. Starring Ed Oxenbould as Tim, Avan Jogia as Stéphane, with Justin Hartley, Jennifer Irwin, Paul Braunstein, Jayli Wolf, and David Huband. This actually looks way better than it sounds, another of the awkwardly hilarious indie comedies that used to play at SXSW & Sundance. It's worth a look. Here's the first official trailer for Dan Mazer's The Exchange,...

Quiver Distribution has acquired U.S. rights to “The Exchange,” a new comedy from the co-creator of “Borat” and “Bruno.”
Directed by Dan Mazer, an Oscar nominee for writing the “Borat” movies and the maker of “Dirty Grandpa,” the film follows a socially awkward but highly enterprising teenager who decides to acquire a “mail-order best friend.” While he hopes to find a sophisticated exchange student from France, he instead ends up importing his personal nightmare, a cologne-soaked, chain-smoking, sex-crazed guy, who quickly becomes a community hero. The movie stars Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”), Avan Jogia (“Zombieland: Double Tap”), Jennifer Irwin (“Bad Teacher”) and Ed Oxenbould (“Wildlife”). Emmy Award-winner Tim Long (“The Simpsons”) penned the script.
Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
“Dan, Tim and the entire cast have created a laugh-out-loud comedy that audiences will unquestionably go crazy for,” said Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman.

Ben Feldman, the Emmy-nominated actor and star of NBC’s “Superstore,” is ready to do more than act, but that doesn’t mean he’s sick of acting.
“It’s not about being bored, and it’s certainly not about being bored with acting,” Feldman said about his choice to direct. “There’s just so much that happens with people who are doing such hard, incredible work around us. And I just think it was neat to kind of understand what it was like to have real responsibility.”
The former “Mad Men” star is making his directorial debut in “Superstore’s” third season. He said the opportunity gave him a deeper appreciation for the hard-working producers and crew — the people Feldman described as the “adults who do the real work.”

He’s not joking. A steaming hole has opened up in Glen’s back garden, and while his parents are away for the weekend he’ll have to defend his home from a demonic invasion.
Glen’s main guardian is his older sister, Al (Christa Denton). Together, the siblings and Terry will face ghosts, poltergeists, zombies, moths and hordes of ankle-biting mini trolls. Dark Sky Films will bring a strange story, to the screen. The film is titled Another Evil. From director Carson D. Mell, the film is a blend of horror and comedy. Recently, it showed at SXSW, in Austin and the Fantasia Film Festival. Another Evil is now set to see a few theatres in May and Video-on-demand. The film stars: Steve Zissis (Roadies), Jennifer Irwin (The Goldbergs) and Mark Proksch ("Better Call Saul"). A preview for the film's launch is hosted here. Os Bijourn is more than an alcoholic. He is also an unwanted boarder. But still, there are more demons to track down, in Dan's home. With no end on the horizon, Dan will have to take extreme measures to rid himself of both ghosts and this lonely ghosthunter. The film's official trailer is hosted here. "Meet Os. A Straight Up Ghost Assassin." Dark Sky Films has released a trailer for a horror comedy titled Another Evil, about a wacky ghost exterminator named Os who is hired to get rid of a ghost in a summer home. Steve Zissis (from "Togetherness") stars as Dan, the guy who moves into his family's vacation home and encounters a ghost. The cast includes Jennifer Irwin, Mark Proksch as Os, Dan Bakkedahl, Dax Flame, Steve Little, and Mariko Munro. This looks very fun, I'm glad that we finally get to see another comedic take on haunted house and ghost exterminators (one of the only other ones I can think of is The Frighteners). It feels like this would be a nice double feature with What We Do in the Shadows. Have fun. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Carson D. This past year, actress Michelle Ang’s performance in the web series “Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462” garnered her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. But Ang’s work in 2016 doesn’t stop there, as she also co-stars in the new indie drama “Fallen Stars” alongside Ryan O’Nan (“Fargo,” “Ray Donovan”), which will finally see a theatrical release this week.

Despite differences in age and background, the two gradually get to know each other and begin to share their lives together.

This is what happens when men try to tell a story primarily about women — and also try to ape Charlie Kaufman — and fail miserably. I’m “biast” (pro): desperate for stories about women
I’m “biast” (con): nothing

There are naked breasts everywhere in Brazilian-Canadian indie Zoom. Real breasts, photographs of real breasts, prosthetic breasts meant to be taken as real, doll breasts (on Real Doll-esque sex toys), comic-book-style animated breasts. Two of Zoom’s three concurrent interconnected stories are about, in large part, body image and body insecurity. In one, a woman frets over the size of her breasts; in the other, a man frets over the size of his penis. Take a guess if we ever see a penis.

It can be difficult differentiating your haunted house movie from the rest of the pack for two reasons. First, there are roughly four hundred of them released every year, and second, they all have to begin in pretty much the same spot with characters in a building of some kind discovering they have ghosts. No one can really do all that much about the first problem — well, the people making the really terrible haunted house movies can stop making them, but the odds of that happening seem slim — but the second? Turns out opening with smart writing and some solid laughs is more than enough to grab and hold viewers’ attention for what’s to come. Dan (Steve Zissis) and his family have come to their new cabin for a relaxing few days away from the city, but part way through a game of charades they discover someone, or something, else...

Those in the know (his following might have discovered him via his pair of novels in The Blue Bourbon Orchestra and Saguaro) appreciate his off the beaten track humor and array of trippy characters and their limitless inscribed legends. The fanfare has steadily grown in Park City with trio of animated short films in Bobby Bird: The Devil in Denim (2007), Chonto (2008), Field Notes from Dimension X : Oasis (2009). Running the full gamut of Sundance Institute’s workshops with Ajax (this could logically be his sophomore feature film), production on Carson Mell‘s directorial debut took place in November of 2014 in Arizona. With recent writing creds for Eastbound & Down and Silicon Valley, described as a supernatural comedy, the live-action Another Evil in definitely in ready mode after showing up at Champs-Élysées Film Fest’s U.S. in Progress this past June. Steve Zissis stars and somewhere in the mix…you’ll...

Principle photography on Another Evil, Carson Mell’s supernatural comedy debut is now complete. Starring Steve Zissis, Mark Proksch, Jennifer Irwin, Dax Flame, Dan Bakkedahl and Steve Little of Todd Rohal’s The Catechism Cataclysm fame, Mell, a three-time Sundance Film Festival alumni thanks to a trio of wacko shorts (see below) shot his feature film debut in Arizona this November. About two-thirds of the way through the pilot episode of Working the Engels, Ceil Engel, the family’s matriarch, gestures toward her hardworking daughter, Jenna, and tosses off the line, “Where does she get that bossiness from?” It’s an ordinary enough punch line, and Tony winner Andrea Martin delivers it with a wry turn, but it’s hard to know where the joke is supposed to land. It seems designed to reflect back on herself, but Ceil’s more of a busybody than a boss. Everywhere else in the show, Jenna’s competence is played as a sort of...

Telefilm Canada has confirmed its financial support of nearly $13 million of Canadian tax payers' money towards the production of nine English-language feature films through the 'Canada Feature Film Fund', although there doesn't seem to be anything culturally 'Canadian' about most of their selections, other than the crews that will be working on them.
Among the films receiving money include a psycho horror with a demonic 'Santa Claus', a bio pic about a former Queen of Sweden, the 'relationship' between 'James Dean' and a photographer, a thriller involving a Satanic child abuse sex ring, and an inflatable Sex Doll drug smuggling story:
The films are "After the Ball" (Sean Garrity), "A Christmas Horror Story" (Steven Hoban, Grant Harvey, Brett Sullivan), "Aloft" (Claudia Llosa), "A Worthy Companion" (Jason Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez), "Life" (Anton Corbijn), "Regression" (Alejandro Amenabar), "Rest Home" (Michael Rowe), "The Girl King" (Mika Kaurismäki) and "Zoom" (Pedro Morelli...

HBO has announced that season four is the end of their Eastbound & Down series. Will the final eight episodes draw a record number of viewers or will the show fizzle out instead? We shall see.
On Eastbound & Down, Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) is now a family man but he's thinking about getting back in the limelight. The rest of the season's cast includes Steve Little, Katy Mixon, John Hawkes, Jennifer Irwin, and Elizabeth De Razzo.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's chances of staying on the air (a moot point in this case). The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- typically on Tuesdays.
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.76 million total viewers.

Two Fox sitcoms come back for their sophomore seasons this week, and though they both had their share of weaknesses when they debuted, they've gone down very different paths.
One comedy, "Breaking In" (Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. Est, Fox) prompted some head scratching almost a year ago when it was unexpectedly revived. But the other, "Bob's Burgers" (8:30 p.m. E.T. One comedy, "Breaking In" (Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. Est, Fox) prompted some head scratching almost a year ago when it was unexpectedly revived. But the other, "Bob's Burgers" (8:30 p.m. E.T. Sunday, Fox), proved that its shaky start was nothing to worry about; the animated adventures of Bob's burger-slinging family have become very enjoyable in their second year. Kenny “Fucking” Powers is back. Fans of the HBO series can rejoice because “Eastbound & Down” makes its long-awaited return tonight after a brutal 15-month hiatus. The ongoing saga of burnout major league pitcher Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) whose bad behavior forced him into early retirement, the series began with Kenny returning to his hometown to become a middle school gym teacher. Living with his brother Dustin (John Hawkes) and sister-in-law Cassie (Jennifer Irwin), Kenny tries to win back his old girlfriend April (Katy Mixon) who’s engaged to his boss, Principal Cutler (Andrew Daly). Most of the jokes in the early episodes derived from the setup that his outsized ego is no match for this small town, while his teaching gig afforded the character plenty of opportunities to say horrible things to children. A network series probably would’ve worn out this premise for eight seasons, switching the jokes slightly each time,...

Chicago – HBO brings back a few of their most larger-than-life personalities with the third (and final) season premiere of “Eastbound & Down” and the stateside premiere of “Life’s Too Short.” Danny McBride/Kenny Powers should be familiar to anyone with an HBO subscription by now and the super-talented pair that made HBO’s “Extras” — Stephen Merchant & Ricky Gervais — are behind another bout of awkward comedy with A-list guest stars. Both shows are flawed but damn funny. You could do worse on a Sunday night.
TV Rating: 3.5/5.0
On paper, HBO’s “Eastbound & Down” and “Life’s Too Short” may not seem to have much in common and yet they are perfectly paired on Sunday nights not only by virtue of being unlike anything else on TV but also on a critical level. “Eastbound,” which is starting its third and final season, has been better in the past but still shows signs of that first-season greatness.

A reluctant John Carpenter introduces the latest excursion into Funny or Die territory by a Hollywood playa, Hit Girl herself Chloë Moretz.
The 14-year-old starlet has had her fair share of experience in the horror genre, from "The Amityville Horror" remake to a vampire in "Let Me In" continuing on into next year's "Dark Shadows," so she must know what it's like to be the "Scary Girl."
In this video, Moretz plays Enid Krysinski, a young lady who for some reason has been typecast as the scary girl, perhaps because she looks like Samara from "The Ring?" Or maybe it's because she can make a boom operator's ear's bleed with her mind?
The video was uploaded by Moretz herself, in promotion-mode for her latest non-terrifying role in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo." Jennifer Irwin, best known as John Hawkes' wife on "Eastbound & Down," is the pitch-perfect stage mom, and there's...

This week I had the opportunity to interview Breaking In star Alphonso McAuley and Executive Producer Adam F. Goldberg. The show was created by Goldberg (Fanboys) and Seth Gordon (The King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters, the upcoming Horrible Bosses) and stars Christian Slater, Alphonso McAuley, Bret Harrison, Trevor Moore, Michael Rosenbaum, Jennifer Irwin and more. Breaking is an off-beat comedy about a high-tech security firm called Contra Security that takes "extreme, and often questionable, measures to sell their protection services. In the interview I learned a lot about the cool show that airs Wednesday's on Fox. Keep reading to check out what McAuley (Cash on the show) and Goldberg had to say about this cool new show.
Here is what McAuley has to say when asked what he liked most about playing Cash on the show: what do you like best about playing Cash, and how much like your character are you?...
