X-Men ’97 has conquered the entire internet and superhero world as fans are elated to have their favorite show back after ages. In a time when the MCU is fumbling with most of its live-action projects, the animated X-Men show proves how a good show can make a difference. The animated show’s success has even raised a conversation about the revival of many other fan-favorite shows. Amidst this, certain DC fans also argue that reviving the Dcau could be an incredible move.
A still from X-Men ’97
The ‘DC Animated Universe’ or Dcau is one of the most celebrated aspects of the world of Superman and Batman. It presented some of the best story adaptations that can even beat most of DC’s live-action adaptations. Although revisiting the animated realm of DC sounds lucrative, the absence of the legendary Kevin Conroy has the fans doubtful if it will be a good idea.

Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” was inspired by an old horror movie playing on television. A member of Bauhaus didn’t want the song to just be a tribute to Bela Lugosi. The band performed the tune in the horror film The Hunger which co-stars David Bowie.
Some classic rock songs were inspired by movies. For example, Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” was influenced by a viewing of a famous horror film. However, the tune was also supposed to have an “erotic” component.

Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is one of the most influential classic rock songs ever. In addition, members of Bauhaus compared the track to a famous Led Zeppelin song. The comparison is a little off for one very specific reason.
Bauhaus said ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ was like a 1980s version of 1 Led Zeppelin song
During a 2019 interview with Uncut, Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy compared “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” to one of the all-time classic rock songs. “‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ just happened to be a seminal song,” he said. “It was the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ of the 1980s.”
Fellow Bauhaus member Kevin Haskins agreed with this assessment. “It definitely has a timeless quality,” he opined. “On reflection, I marvel at what we did. We were just four young kids who wanted to make something unique, without really having much idea what we were doing. But that song came out of it.

Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller is out for the rest of the season after dislocating his knee while playing against the New Orleans Saints Sunday. The nasty injury came when he caught the pass in the end zone and landed in a way that his knee buckled under him. Dr. David J. Chao wrote in a piece for the San Diego Union-Tribune: “A dislocation equals a multi-ligament injury. Miller has torn at least two ligaments, likely three. As predicted, he went to the hospital to be checked for artery damage.” Also Read: Houston Texans Kneel En Masse After Owner's 'Inmate' Comments Judging.

Buried in Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David J. Garrow’s 1,400-page tome about former President Barack Obama’s rise to the White House is the headline-grabbing revelation that he had a serious relationship with – and proposed marriage (twice!) to – a woman other than wife Michelle.
Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama also includes details that a young Obama may have continued to see his former flame, Sheila Miyoshi Jager, even after he met his future first lady. Some reports have breathlessly claimed that Obama cheated on Michelle.

A new biography is shedding light on Barack Obama's personal history.
In Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama, author David J. Garrow claims that there was another prominent relationship in the future president's life -- and that Obama even asked this woman to marry him. The book alleges that Obama twice proposed to Sheila Miyoshi Jager -- a former student of anthropology, currently a professor at Oberlin College -- in the years before he met Michelle Robinson.
"In the winter of '86, when we visited my parents, he asked me to marry him," Jager tells Garrow, according to The Washington Post. Her answer: "Not yet," but the couple remained together.

Prospect of industrial action looms over industry.
The Writers Guild Of America (WGA) on Wednesday said it will strike unless improved terms with studios and networks are in place when current contracts expire on May 1.
The Guild is seeking higher payments and a health plan bailout that would amount to an extra $178m from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
Recent negotiations have not delivered what WGA members want and resume next week.
The last time the WGA went on strike was in November 2007. According to a letter sent by WGA executive director David J. Young to media buyers, that industrial action resulted in “the loss of almost 25% of primetime scripted programming for the 2007-2008 broadcast season”.
The letter claims new action could have a significant effect on the autumn television season as writers on those series tend to start work in May and June.
An excerpt from the letter said: “WGA members are the...

Donald Trump has lost round one in an attempt to have a lawsuit accusing him of inciting violence against protestors tossed out of court. Judge David J. Hale in Kentucky ruled against the president, whose declaration of “get ‘em out of here” at a March 2016 campaign rally in Louisville, resulting in what the protestors claim was shoving and punching by Trump supporters. Attorneys for the president sought for dismissal citing freedom of speech and arguing that he didn’t call for supporters use of force. The judge, however, thought otherwise, saying that substantial evidence existed that the protesters’ injuries were a.

Chicago – In this year of morally unique relationship films (“Swiss Army Man”), add the recently released “Captain Fantastic” to the mix. The film, written and directed by Matt Ross, is like a fable of unintended consequences, where a father raises his children to live off the ‘grid,’ away from typical 2016 civilization.
The father in the film is Viggo Mortensen (“Eastern Promises”), and the situation complicates itself when the mother of the six children dies, leaving the father no choice but to bring them back into “civilization” to attend the funeral. Writer/director Matt Ross – who as an actor also portrays Gavin Belson on HBO’s “Silicon Valley” – combines anarchist political philosophy with the extreme survival skills of the family to illustrate a point about our modern society, mostly in the sense that despite all our current abilities to technically communicate with one another, we still remain separated.

I’d love to say that I’m broadly well-read when it comes to the more celebrated books of the day, but it’s just not true. If you’re looking to engage in a discussion about today’s most incisive fiction, you’re much better off speaking with my wife (who works in publishing) than one such as I. Truthfully, I’ve pretty much lost my taste for fiction almost entirely. Unless I have some vested interest (like, say, I know the author or it’s about something near and dear to me), I usually cannot muster up the interest to crack the binding.
As a result, whenever I’m perusing through the aisles of a bookstore (when I can still find one,...

Kelly Rutherford has hit another roadblock in her fight to reunite her family in America: Her two children will not travel to the United States for a planned custody hearing next week.
During a prearranged phone call Thursday, California and Monaco judges decided against sending the Gossip Girl star's kids with ex-husband Daniel Giersch to Los Angeles for a court hearing Monday, multiple sources tell People. The L.A. judge is not certain he has jurisdiction over the case and postponed the court date until July 9, but sources say Giersch already has a hearing in Monaco on June 22 – when he could file for full custody.

Richard Dreyfuss is taking legal action against Disney over his share of profits from 1989 movie What About Bob?.
1991's Turner & Hooch is also part of the action, with Christine Wagner, the widow of that movie's producer, arguing that she is entitled to 50% of its profits.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pair filed a complaint at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (April 9), claiming that Disney refused to hire their chosen auditor.
They want an investigation into how net profits have been calculated by Disney's auditors.
Their complaint reads: "There are very few firms that regularly audit the Studios. The so-called 'Big Four' accounting firms have no reputation for or competence in this regard.
"These few firms that do have the relevant expertise include: Robinson Inc; Green Hasson Janks; Hacker Douglas & Company; and Nigro Karlin Segal Feldstein & Bolno."

What about David? That's the question posed by a new lawsuit filed by Richard Dreyfuss and Christine Wagner against Walt Disney Pictures over the 1991 film What About Bob? and 1989 motion picture Turner and Hooch. Dreyfuss co-starred with Bill Murray in the former, while Wagner's late husband produced the latter, starring Tom Hanks and a dog. According to a complaint filed on Thursday in La Superior Court, Disney has refused a demand by Dreyfuss and Wagner to hire their chosen auditor — Robinson Inc., founded by David J. Robinson. In a potentially watershed case from attorney Neville Johnson,

Bruce Springsteen acquired the nickname ‘The Boss’ during The E Street Band’s early days playing clubs and bars. It was Springsteen’s job, as the band leader and foreman, to collect the money they made on the night and pay the band members accordingly.
Yes, it was as innocuous as that. But while the moniker may have humble origins, it has grown to mean so much more to legions of Springsteen fans around the world. Although he has made around $150m over the last few years thanks to hit records and worldwide tours, he has frequently demonstrated that he hasn’t lost the common touch.
Deep down, away from all of the glitz and glamour, he’s just a kid from New Jersey who wanted to sing and play guitar because he saw The Beatles on TV one night.

As Ava DuVernay's "Selma" moves out into wide release Friday, just 10 days shy of the Martin Luther King holiday on Jan. 19, the film finds itself in a tug-of-war over accuracy and dramatic license. If you've only skimmed the headlines or caught wind peripherally, here's a quick timeline of some of the debate's highlights. *** December 22: Things begin just before the holiday, when Mark K. Updegrove, director of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, blasts the film's depiction of the King/Johnson dynamic at Politico. "'Selma' misses mightily in faithfully capturing the pivotal relationship — contentious, the film would have you believe," he writes. He then details how Johnson's feet-dragging on the issue of voting rights was less about simple trepidation than politicking and finding the best way to time out the series of events so that Congress wouldn't stop it cold: "Yes, Johnson advocated stripping a potent...

Paul Walker's daughter will live with a nanny and her mother, an attorney told a court commissioner who dismissed guardianship proceedings over the teenager on Wednesday. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner David J. Cowan dismissed a guardianship case over Meadow Rain Walker after hearing from Amy Nieman, an attorney he appointed to represent the 15-year-old. Nieman said there was no need for court oversight because there was an adequate plan for the teenager's care, including help from a close friend of the late actor who has been appointed by another court to make sure Meadow Walker receives proper care.

Chicago – “Young & Beautiful” may have people rethinking the phrase, “Oh, to be young and beautiful again.” Well, maybe the “young” part, since we seldom don’t hear lamentations of the loss of beauty. Here’s a film that reminds us that wisdom not only comes with age, but also with mistakes.
It also serves as a reminder that in our youth, we often get stuck in irreversibly bad patterns that hurt ourselves and the ones who love us. Writer/director Francois Ozon’s latest leaves us to decide whether or not the young and beautiful protagonist has any regret for her rash and vacant erotic adventures.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The film opens on a teenage girl relaxing topless on a beach in France, while a younger boy peeps through binoculars from the tree line above her. She is seventeen year-old Isabelle (Marine Vacth) and he is her curious brother, Victor (Fantin Ravat...

Chicago – Parents often feel responsible for their child’s reprehensible actions or despicable behavior. They may feel it reflects poorly on their own character and will go out of their way to fix a situation, make it all better. Certainly not all parents, but definitely the mother we meet in “Child’s Pose,” a Romanian film from last year that is finally getting released here in the States.
It’s a fascinating film centered on a controlling and manipulative mother who will confound audiences with her own questionable behavior and blunt demeanor, leaving them to ponder whether or not her concern and emotional responses are genuine or come from a place of self-preservation.
Rating: 4.5/5.0

Chicago – “Cheap Thrills” is a case study in human desperation and depravity. It’s a sick and twisted film, but it goes about it in a most absorbing albeit uncomfortable way. It’s one of those films that forces the viewer to place themselves in the protagonist’s unpredictable position, asking a question like, “What would you do for money?” Once you do it, what else are you willing to do for more and then, “How far is too far?”

In his directorial debut, E.L. Katz, along with screenwriters David Chirchirillo and Trent Haaga, want us to ask such questions and many more. Based on the levels of humiliation and pain witnessed on the screen, they also want us to squirm in frustrated and anger. It’s like a product of “The Twilight Zone” and “Creepshow” spilling into each other, that happens to deliver one of the most memorable endings of the year.

Chicago – Two years ago, the Indonesian film, “The Raid: Redemption”, smacked action movie fans upside the head. To briefly sum it up, it was nuts. The straight-forward plot took a backseat to some amazing stunt work, an insane amount of creative choreography and in-your-face violence. There’s no need to worry about the sequel, “The Raid 2,” not living up to the original.

The judge who reviewed Paul Walker's mother's petition seeking temporary guardianship of his 15-year-old daughter Meadow didn't see why an immediate change was necessary and denied that part of the motion, according to documents released Wednesday. "Why is temp guardianship needed? What is urgency?" Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner David J. Cowan wrote in a minute order after attorneys made a brief appearance Thursday in the March 18 filing by Cheryl Ann Walker. Cowan also complained that attorneys for Walker, 60, neglected to serve papers to Meadow or her mother, Rebecca Soteros. Additional paperwork was required to explain the need for a change in guardianship,...

Chicago – The crime thriller “Sabotage” is the least predictable and most intense of the handful of post Governator action movies Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in. Last year’s “The Last Stand” had a sense of humor about it, along with a nod to classic Westerns, that lightened the bloody violence, but here is a gritty film that proudly displays its tattoos and adrenaline in a testosterone-laced delivery.
..that even has its few women posing a legitimate threat to their manly costars. While there is some humor here, it comes from R-rated bro-camaraderie, that is - the kind of jokes you crack after you’ve just turned a bad guy’s head into a squishy tomato during a drug raid.

Chicago – In interviews to promote the movie, Aaron Paul has said that he was chosen by Steven Spielberg himself to be the lead in this high-speed action thriller, while the executive producer was binge-watching “Breaking Bad”. Those are certainly some undeniable cool points that I can’t blame him for mentioning, regardless of how the movie is received.

It’s an understandable decision, even if it was based solely on Paul’s formidable work on the award-winning AMC series. He may be a solid choice to play an expert street racer, but Spielberg and the other bigwigs at DreamWorks should’ve been more selective with who they chose for screenwriting duties. If the studio was attempting their own shot at a “Fast and Furious” franchise, they could’ve at least brought in a co-writer to help out with characterization and dialogue. Chicago – Talking dogs have been around for decades in animated movies and television shows, especially the anthropomorphized kind. Chicago – As a director, Kevin Costner comes across as a patient guy who waits for the right material to come along. Considering the last movie he helmed is a little over ten years old (“Open Range”), one might also consider him picky too.
As an actor, it feels like Costner woke up one recent morning and thought, “Hey, I should do a handful of movies in a row. I’m not getting any younger!”, which is why we had that “Jack Ryan” movie last month, “3 Days to Kill” this month and next month’s “Draft Day”, with two more movies still on their way this year. Hopefully he’s planning on taking 2015 off entirely.
